Bro...this is incredible...and NFL fan checking out rugby. I am South African and am fascinated by the NFL. The Superbowl is an insane spectacle.
So, in rugby, the 2 best teams are the Springboks and All Blacks. Both have won 3 world cups each and are the sports biggest rivals. It's always about Southern Hemisphere (SA, NZ, AUS, ARG) vs NH (ENG, WALES, FRANCE, IRELAND, ITALY, SCOTLAND). SH always rules!
The greatest games to check out will be: 1995, 2003 World Cup finals. SA vs British Lions (a combined NH team) - 2nd test 2009. NZ vs France (99 world cup semi). AUS vs NZ (39-35 scoreline - 2000).
Also, check out the overall best tries by these teams. Not just 2019 or so.

One of the biggest international brawls on a rugby field was in Port Elizabeth in South Africa at the 95 World Cup. It was South Africa, the hosts, versus a very decent Canadian rugby team. It was an epic brawl and 1 player got sent off and two got yellows. Should’ve been more card issued, but what an entertaining match that was. More remembered for the brawl Ofcourse 🥊🏉

Line outs take place when the opposition kick the ball out of play or are tackled out of play. The side who did not exit play is then awarded the line out. In this case the lineout led into a rolling maul where the players form a bound group and as long as they remain bound can move forward until they break up or are stopped from moving forward in which case they must use the ball in a different form to continue attacking.

  • @vinnyvdm5487
    @vinnyvdm5487 Před 3 lety +1

It’s called a line out where they raise them up. So when the ball goes out of bounds the play gets stopped and formally restarted via a Line out. If the ball goes out of bounds via team 1, then team 2 gets the ball to restart the play again. Line out is also referred to as a set piece/play.
Where they “bundled up” is called a Maul. Lots of rules to regulate it and control it. But it is one of South Africas strongest weapons/tactics in the game.

Canada used to be half decent back in the 90’s.. always played really hard rugby…
One be of the biggest fights in modern day rugby, was in the 1995 World Cup which was held in South Africa..
the Springboks played Canada and a fight broke out… all hell broke loose. 3 players was sent off.. two from South Africa and one Canadian. It was epic, but the game has been cleaned up a lot since the ‘amateur’ days.
Not sure if there’s any footage of it on you tube, but it’ll be a great watch lol
Don’t really know what happened to Canadian rugby since those days.
PS- the Springboks biggest rival is the All Blacks. They are world rugbys top two teams. Nothing but mutual respect between the nations and the games are always full throttle stuff.
If you want to watch a game, just watch South Africa and England World Cup final in 2019. The springboks won ofcourse, but the English beat the AllBlacks in the Semi and was the clear favourites to win the tournament. But, South Africa loves nothing more than to be counted out. They became the first team to win the Comp by having a defeat earlier in the tournament. Clinical stuff.
But there’s so many games you can watch on you tube. The British Lion tours are also always full throttle stuff.
The Lions are made up from the cream of English, Irish, Scottish and Welsh teams.
They tour every 4 years and alternate between the Springboks, NZ and Australia, so they only come around every 12 years to each nation in a series of 3 matches. Riveting stuff and their fans are just a joy to listen to.
PS - America has a professional league now, so you should be able to go to some matches if they are in and around where you live. I suggest you do that, as it won’t cost you an arm and a leg to travel overseas to watch a game.
Maybe do a reaction to the MLR ( Major league Rugby) so you can expose the game back in America a bit more and continue your ambassador role for our beloved sport in your home land.
I really hope, like pretty much all rugby loving nations, that The USA wakes up and becomes a giant of the game like the Boks and NZ.
Thanks for your work mate.. you’re videos are always so much fun to watch
