Another wonderful golfing education, Stuart. I, too, was one of those people who really didn’t understand the handle pressure until I saw your two part broom videos. The drill you just demonstrated clearly shows us how pressure in the handle works with a golf club in hand. The thing that resonated with me was when you said the handle stays under the shoulders at impact. That thought alone is a game changer. Now I know why I, sometimes, heel strike or shank the ball, when trying to swing from the inside. The club handle is not under my shoulders at impact, but is up and away, which causes the club face to drop and open, thus a heel strike at best or a shank at worst. Thanks for another eye opening education on the golf swing. Cheers.
My absolute pleasure Sir and so so happy the picture keeps getting clearer and hoping your journey to scratch golf is getting smoother all the time. Best wishes Stu 😊
Wow mate! This video is GOLD!!! It’s even more clearer now. For the first time in my life, after 30 years of playing and have achieved 8 handicap, I am hitting the ball exactly where I want it. Now I know what you mean that Golf is easy. Thank You 🙏 #thatsgoodcoaching
Thanks Fabian - long may it continue!!
Hi Stu I’m the 82 year old grandma that was trying to swing in to out lifting the the handle and hitting before the ball into the ground 🙈🙈🙈
I played yesterday and used this method by practicing it upright and then bending to hit the ball, Wow it’s a different swing, first thing I noticed was I can stay down through the ball, the second thing was how it stabilised the club face through impact.
Thanks again for making the golf swing through impact understandable for the first time.
I know I will have to keep practicing this move before it becomes second nature, but at least I now know what I am trying to achieve. 🙏👏👏👏
Blown me away 👍
Incredible feedback Mark - great news you have seen the light so to speak and it sounds like there could be a huge land of opportunity ahead. Keep me posted Sir. Best wishes Stu 😊
A new and insightful video from Stuart first thing in the morning? Now that is better than a cup of coffee 😊
Amen to that Kyle, although I do love a good coffee. 😂😊
Wow............the clouds are parting and I think actually hear angelic music......thanks Stu ⛳
Bless you Gary, always enjoy your messages, thank you so much. Best wishes Stu 😊
Thanks Stuart. Great stuff
Pleasure James ! Glad you enjoyed my friend
Incredible eye opener! Can't wait to get to the range! 👍
Please let me know how you find it; sure will help your ball striking, that’s for sure. 😊
Can’t wait to try this when I get home. So glad I found this channel. Thanks
Thank you so much John and I’m super happy you’re here too Sir - please ask if you need any help! Best wishes Stu 😊
If anyone is struggling with pressue through the handle and you are close enough to where Stuart teaches. I would highly recommend going to see him face to face. Had my 3rd lesson yesterday and worked on similar principles to what Stuart shows and now its starting to click. Top coach. I travel nearly 2 hours to his studio but it’s definitely worth it 👍🏻
Awesome! Good effort!
Thank you so much Steven - really kind words and super work yesterday, look forward to seeing how you develop over the coming weeks! Best wishes Stu 😊
I saw Stuart today. I may very well be the 82 year grandmother he refers to. 😉
@@flatcapgolfer 😂😂 think we all are when we first visit him mate
Greetings from Alaska! I found your channel about six months ago and I'm darn glad I did. I've been practicing many of your drills, proper grip, step drills, pressure drills, theraband swings, etc. The results speak for themselves, my iron striking has improved dramatically and encourages me to keep striving. Stuart, I am doing all I can here in the great north to inform golfers about your channel. Thanks for all the hard work!
I am eternally grateful for the truly inspirational words you’ve shared; to hear your golf going from strength to strength is all I aim to deliver and long may it continue for you and the rest of the wonderful subscribers who are part of the channel. Any questions or videos you’d like to ask or wish me to do, please send them over. Keep at it Roger and look forward to speaking in the future. Best wishes Stu 😊
👋👍 very nice stuff, I will try it for sure ...
Fantastic Andreas, do let me know how you get on and look forward to hearing! Best wishes Stu 😊
Not certain I understand this one yet, gonna go back to some of your previous videos to try to get myself ready to be taught.
Please do Jason - lots to learn my friend 😊
You’re awesome man! Feels like I’m waking up. I’ve always swung in to out and I’ve never really set the club much vertically and as such have never pressure the shaft on the way down. My jumbo max grips se to make it impossible to grip club in fingers. I have more of a Bryson one plans set up at address. I have learned so much this last week after discovering you.
Sooo happy the big wake up is occurring Ned, so refreshing to hear people seeing the game for what it is. So much to come and more lightbulbs will go on, promise you. Thanks for being part of the community! Best wishes Stu 😊
I guess this is the video you said to have a look at? I do let the clubhead drop down I remember Andy Traynor had me doing a drill swinging around with the handle below my knees :)
Standby for tomorrow, its a little more than handle low, its only 50% of the story...
You and coach Mike Malaska are the only ones who speak about forces in the golf swing in the way you do
I’m not familiar with Mike Malaska - if he and I help you play better golf, it makes me very happy! Best wishes Stu 😊
Just got back from the range with implementing this drill and I’ve never hit the ball more consistently in my life. Here’s malaska’s take: czcams.com/video/hASz-b92jtI/video.html
Hi Stu..just spent the morning on my short game ,,,pushing down on the handle with the top hand is so obvious on the shorter pitches ,,really shows you how the clubhead returns on an arc to square at impact 🎉
Thanks so much Graham - happy the short game has been working with these feels 😊
Have had the fortune to have a few lessons with Stuart over the last few months - and the fundamentals here really work in practice
- Grip - the “hold”
- the pivot and using pressure through the feet to drive the hip turn - yes have used “the broom” and “Swiss ball”
- and crucially the downward pressure as shown in this video to give much greater control over the club face.
Of course have had the bad days when it gets worse before it gets better …but it is worth it guys - ball striking the best it’s been. WHS down to 8 - and shot -1 on the back 9 last week.
Keep up the content Stu
Thank you so much for sharing the very kind words Paul. Love being a part of your golf journey, so much more to come for you. Content will continue 😊😂
Love it mate, sounds abit similar to my journey so far 👍🏻
Hi Stu
For the first time , I'm actually seeing results...I thought that pushing down on the butt end feeling was for irons only, but experimented with wood and hybrids...wow !!! some straight shots and dare I say tad of a draw, thank you so much, I'm converted
Regards
Dave G
Love this David! It takes some time to see the message, super pleased you have and you’re sticking with me. Best wishes Stu 😊
Hi Stuart, firstly thank you for sharing your knowledge & improving my game!
One question.... would applying pressure on the putter handle square the face up in tje same way?
Nick - absolutely and twice on Sundays! Best wishes Stu
Fantastic analogy of what should be happening, just one thing when you say put pressure on the handle yet you need a light grip?
Cheers 👍
Yes sir, I’ve done a number of videos on this Mark - using the pad of your left hand and fingers of the right hand, definitely doesn’t need tension. Best wishes Stu 😊
Great info. This reminds me of a Cowen’s beach ball drill where the feeling through impact is similar to pushing the ball under water.
Thanks Jesse - not seen the beach ball drill but hoping this works too. 😊
Great explanation but WHEN & WHERE in the downswing should apply the pressure to the handle ? Thanks
It’s motion, not a position Chris. Maybe I’ll do another video on this. Best wishes Stu 😊
When I first started this handle trick i was slicing out of my mind. Then I did the handle trick but very mindfully was closing in the face, and I must say, so far so good.
Only one session with just wiffle balls, but I can see how this may work. It will be interesting at the range tomorrow.
Thanks for sharing Punky - let me know how it goes and we will get you playing the golf you deserve my friend! Best wishes Stu 😊
@intelligentgolfperformance The range was better than normal. I think swallowing the club head in the back swing was helping more than anything.
Im still struggling with the pressure on the lever. When I pushed too much, I would chunk it.
Hopefully, I can get it figured out
@@DaGolfViking make sure you push up with the left leg as you push down 😊
All the pressure on the handle makes sense up until shaft parallel but once you get to shaft parallel don’t you need to let your wrists uncock? I feel like putting pressure down through impact stops my wrists from uncocking and thefore the club from swinging so I then I lose speed?
Not at all my friend, if you watch my “Power at Impact” video you’ll gain more insight, how you can keep pressure and unload the golf club. Best wishes Stu 😊
One thing that confuses me slightly Stuart is drilling the handle outwards from the top with a golf club. Because I see you show that move at varying degrees. When I take it to an extreme like the theraband drill, but with a club in my hand it become very difficult to then do the second part of pressuring down to get the face on the ball. In isolation I get it, no problem there, but when adding in the second bit after that all in one movement what positions do you like to see with doing it with a club? Aiming for hands halfway between feet and ball at 9'clock shaft? Because that's what happens I feel when doing the broom drill correctly, that's the general positions that seem to get hit. I hope it is clear what I'm asking, lol.
Not really clear Brian, and I had hoped this video was clear in its explanation? Best wishes Stu
@@GoodGolfCoaching probably time to book a lesson with you mate.
May well be 🤓
Wow- 7 golf schools and never got anywhere near this information- I’m worse case of “high Mickelson hands downswing and thru- high toe hooks… Doing what they’d say and demonstrate getting worse and worse. Thanks “ new insights….
Hey Jack - glad you enjoyed the video, please check out more of my content because I think you might enjoy a variety of enlightening topics. Best wishes Stu 😊
Your certifiably brlliant ,haha ,,well explained all the same cheers
Thanks Graham! Kind words indeed, Hope you’re well 😊
This is a different feel for me…. Need to try this but it’s raining and WH is closed for the rest of the week for the AIG 😮
Hit the range Andy and let me know how it goes!! Enjoy the AIG if you’re going, best wishes Stu 😊
When you put pressure down on the handle it appears your right arm is very straight at impact. Most instructors teach a bent right or trail arm at impact. Do you?
Absolutely not, the right arm does not need to be coerced into being bent at impact. This is so so bad for your game. Please watch a lot of my videos to understand why. Best wishes Stu 😊
@@GoodGolfCoaching Thank you! I just found your videos and you've peaked my interest
Where can I buy the shaft tees? Would love to tee it up in front of members😂
At your local car boot 😂😂
i like coffee...
Me too…
My 82 year old grand ma is scratch from red tees, just saying.
Haha good to know Mitch! 😂😂
Nope. Won't be doing this one.
No problem at all, it won’t be for everyone. 😊
