I love corny and agree with just about everything he says about the WWE. But in their defense, they have always established that there is no DQ in a triple threat match. Michael Cole says it literally every time, they’re consistent in that regard.
Who pays attention to Michael Cole?
Who cares about Michael Cole and since when is this a rule? I don't remember triple threat matches always being a DQ, makes zero sense.
@@KB-hh8rt Me neither, it also makes zero sense to say "three ways can't possibly have rules!" Then how can tag matches or any matches have rules?
If it was a 4 way I'd get it, the ref can't watch both sides if 2 guys are fighting either side, but with a 3 way the ref can always look at whoever is fighting. I think a 3 way should have DQs, cos when the ref is attending to a guy who is down another guy could cheat behind the ref's back to get heat

Its been established for well over two decades that Triple Threat and Fatal Fourway matches in the WWE are no disqualification. That's company policy and they have explained it countless times over the last two decades.
Exactly
Why don’t they explain that then, they explain the royal rumble rules every single year
You can't be eliminated in a match by DQ or count-out if there is no eliminations.
Not going to lie I thought it was a recent concept, always remember triple threats as being clean matches
Triple treat and fatal four ways have been no DQs, due to the wild environment and constant pin breaking involve, the problem is WWE is inconsistent on how they explain things, they explain when they want to...
“Edge is good at facials”
*Lita theme plays*
Jey Uso makes me laugh during Roman's entrance! Jey be hyped and pumped up while Roman no sells it and acts calm for his whole entrance! Lol.. I love Jey with Roman.
Basically lio rush and lashly at one point (kinda)
He's Reigns' wildcard freak
Jay Uso looks like a crazed fanboy with his over hyped antics
@@rdu239 That's his gimmick. He's been mentally broken to being whatever Roman wants him to be. Guard dog basically.
Jey is Romans pitbull on a leash
In Kayfabe terms it would be stupid for the heel to not use weapons or interference in a triple threat match considering they can't lose by disqualification so the booking is pretty spot on.
Facts
For some reason people here keep pretending they don't know that Triple Threats are always No DQ.
I agree with you, I usually agree with Jim on 90% of things, but I really enjoyed this match
That's true but from a booking standpoint too much makes it look like shit.

I think Edge was legit mad that Daniel Bryan was a part of this match
Nah. He has been saying in interviews, since last year, that he wants to work a program with DB.
If he wasn't he would be the only one.
Daniel Bryan had no place in the match to begin with and was only put in so Roman didn't have to get beat and when all was said and done... Reigns pinned them both.
What a fucking waste of time.
@@efng21 blame Vince for that. In this 3 way fuckery both Edge and Bryan were made to look like absolute chumps. None of them looked good after this shit. If edge wanted to work with Bryan, Vince should have done their singles match and done something else for Roman.

That is because WWE is terrible at writing babyfaces.

@@vintage_85 excuse me son ? FOH! I been a wrestling fan since 1979 when JIM Cornette was A Skinny young loudmouth. So how about you n corny both SHUT THE HELL UP ON THIS ONE
@@vintage_85 how can you disagree with a vet? Easy. Literally fans disagree with Vince's decision practically all the time and he's the vet among vets.
I can agree with Cornette’s views on wrestling desperately needing a more grounded, simplistic, and believable storytelling style both on the mic and in the ring. His takes on singles matches are mostly spot on; favoring a grounded strong style match or a technical performance slowly leading up to logical spots later in the match.
However, I cannot disagree more with his take on this match and it’s lead up. Yes, the safer and more by-the-books story would be to tell Edge’s Cinderella story return in the Royal Rumble to the main event of Wrestlemania, only for it to be thrashed by the heel world champion at the end. But we’ve already seen this countless times and even once before WITH EDGE HIMSELF in 2010.
This was a much more compelling story in my opinion seeing his white meat baby face persona (with which he has never thrived with) melt away in the face of possibly loosing his last opportunity to win the big one in the main event. He became more deranged in a very logical and believable way given his psychotic heel roots, and it was refreshing route to go down with a beloved returning superstar. He wasn’t quite a do-gooder or a dastardly villain, he was the tweener this match needed to fill in the blank spaces between Reigns & Bryan. And middle ground with a superbly interesting character.
Bottom line is edge wasn’t drawing like they wanted and needed to spice up the match.. Bryan a nice safe choice
It should of be simply reigns vs edge ... Bryan doesn’t need to be in the match and the reasoning they gave was stupid ... might as well through the royal rumble out now because the winner means nothing ... edge should of went over ... they need to continue the story of reigns but his title head of the story shit needs to have some sort of ending because they book themselves into a corner like the undertaker, the nexus etc it’s getting to the point of annoying and annoying isn’t being a good heel
This match was absolutely fantastic. My only nitpick is Roman pinning both guys, if Daniel was gonna be inserted he should’ve taken the pin for either Roman or edge. Jim won’t let it go, he can’t put over anything modern. He can’t possibly admit something today was even slightly in the same stratosphere as in his day (which it largely isn’t). I’m tired of Jim not having any knowledge of the build other than the hype package and then burying any and everything. He acts like no DQ never happened with Flair or Dusty. And Bryan Last is completely worthless. His “I’m too cool for wrestling” I don’t give a shit attitude is old and tired. If he isn’t gonna do the research to fill in the blanks for Jim then get his fat ass off the show.
Usually agree with Jim, but see this one very differently. Edge return -> Rumble win -> Mania win would be fine, nice and safe, paint-by-numbers booking, and no one would complain, but we've seen the comeback story a million times.
Subverting that trope is pretty interesting and suits Edge. 10 years out, wins Royal Rumble from number 1, destined to fulfil his dream.... only he doesn't. You get one chance in a lifetime to write that story, and it's taken a way from him. He's driven to madness and blames it on Bryan for the three way. Now we get the old (always more successful) heel Edge, unhinged, in a feud with Bryan.
As for the finish, I think Jim misread the story. Roman got his ass kicked all match, and did a great job of shining up Bryan and Edge. For most of his offence, he needed Jey, and he's now tapped twice in two months. So when he "sent a message" about his dominance by pinning both guys, it wasn't burying them, because he wasn't actually dominant - he just thinks he is because he got lucky in the end. Heel heat.
By the way, that concerto to Bryan? Remember his own concussion story. Hopefully they bring that into the sort of two guys forced to retire.
Spot on, this was a more complex and satisfying story and ended up as by far the match of Wrestlemania for me. I remember that con-chair-to spot and hoping Edge would shout 'So you had a concussion?' to Bryan to spin around what Bryan did to him earlier in the match.
Well put, this needs more likes
Man, I never got so pissed in my life! Because Roman really didn't deserve that pin. On the other hand, Roman's pin was the only real heel thing I've seen him doing. He was so lame as heel that I didn't know if I felt disrespected (because he was so lame and undeserving of this spotlight) or glad (because finally I could buy him as being a heel and not acting like one). I think I'll decide that on the following days. If he doesn't take this role seriously, I'm gonna be really pissed at this pin. Because that pin is not worthy of a heel loved by kids. I hope Roman stop acting like a bad guy and be one from now on. Make worth that once in a lifetime pin. Because up to this moment, his idea of being a heel is to personate Christian Grey. Or any 80's Hollywood mafia leader cliché. I want actions. I want a heel insulting fans. I want a heel that would make kids boo. I'm sick of WWE pushing him and Roman not taking advantage of it. That pin will be the best thing to ever happened to his character, he needs to embrace it. But to be honest, I'm not that hopeful. Don't think his next moves will earn it.
Edge lost 2 World title matches after winning 2 Royal Rumbles
@JeffChad I’m sorry, I usually don’t get into other people’s discussion, and I hate being that person, but I’ve became so frustrated with all that’s happening in wrestling, that I couldn’t stop myself from replying your comment. But what exactly people like about this storyline? Roman believing he's a heel? Do you know why Roman is the most popular guy in WWE right now? Do you know why he’s the most loved superstar by people? By KIDS? That’s right. Because Roman and WWE doesn’t give a shit to role portrayal and are ruining the fundamentals of wrestling storytelling! Heels aren’t supposed to be cheered by the little ones. If Roman can't even make kids hate him, how can I buy him as a heel? Now tell me, is this something you’d expect from a heel? No! Because heels aren’t supposed to be loved! How can I respect a guy who can’t get on my nerves? Miz really gets on my nerves, sometimes I just want to punch him, and for that I respect him. That’s why Roman didn’t deserve that Wrestlemania pin on Daniel and Edge. Not now and not never. So this is something that’s going to be from now on? This "bad and oh so cruel guy" being the most loved superstar? Messing up wrestling roles? Do you know how much toxic Roman's fans are? Like, you get this mix of children, transitional fans, undeveloped teens without basic wrestling knowledge, Marvel adults fans, and frustrated people who just accept anything since WWE is so crappy nowadays and therefore really weak on the minds to see the shit that's happening before their eyes. He might be a good wrestler, but he's not even an average heel. That’s the kind of brainless people they want to bring into the business? I’m thankful and glad that when I was young I could HATE guys. That I could get involved in the storytelling, that I could scream and cry. All because of our heels. These kids will never be able to feel this bless. Nowadays fans connection to wrestling is not built on emotion, but looks and booking. So here we have our biggest heel now... This grumpy, whispering Christian Grey who's unable to even bring heat. He doesn’t give ANY reason to people boo him! So what’s left now? When we can even have a true bad guy? It’s so unfair! I feel insulted when I see crap like that because I’ve been watching wrestling for so long and I love it. I can’t feel indifference when I see those kind of shits. It hurts. It’s not something small, it really isn’t. It’s wrestling whole STRUCTURE. And is gone.
This was a great match and finish as far as modern wrestling goes. I really enjoyed watching it.
that finish was definitely a Heyman idea
Go watch any lesnar or Walter match and then say same
But Jim... Aren’t ALL triple threat matches no DQ though? 😂

@@christophermarang.3569 but of course Bryan didn’t say that and just went with the bashing
I think his point is there’s no reason to announce it being no DQ
I have never noticed that they were no dq. I get it that it nay be subliminal but I never knew that. They didn't use weapons in triple threats
@@Jvisionthagod who didn’t use weapons? The first triple threat match I can think of in WWF... well fatal four, way was that match where the Undertaker won to get into WWF Championship match vs Sid at Mania, and that match also had weapons and no DQ.

If a Conchairto was used in AEW, it would get a 2 count. Not only that, the match would only be half over

Thats not untrue....
Wrestlemania is the reason for that though. Young wrestlers grew up on modern day Wrestlemania where every match has a dozen near falls and false finishes and it takes 3 finishing moves to finally put someone away. The crowd goes crazy for it every time. People grow up watching that and they mimic it every chance they get.
Which time though? The 1st time, or the 5th time?
"They're just doing scenes, they're not even doing matches anymore". Yep. Vince McMahon is not the booker of WWE anymore, he's the director.
Ever play that Wolfenstein game where you’re undercover as an actor auditioning for a propaganda film, and you meet Hitler and he’s totally senile and insane and just wanders around brandishing a gun? That’s how I picture McMahon.
I’m sorry Jim! But the Triple H vs Shawn Micheals Vs Chris Benoit triple threat match for the World Heavyweight Championship in Wrestlemania 20 is one of the greatest matches of all time!
WM 30 main event was pretty damn amazing too. I don't think the match was the problem but the fact that Uso got involved way too damn much.
It is probably the best three way match ever, possibly the only good one. Can't see it as one of the greatest of "all time". What is your time frame of history?!
Ikr. Also the 30 one was epic.
It just sucks that we can never look at it the same again because of 2007, still great though.
@@thisishrsesht31 The WM20 main event blatantly was one of the greatest wrestling bouts in history. You can name maybe 1 or 2 WM main events better ever technically if any at all and meant a lot at the time. WM is the pinnacle of wrestling and means more than any other event, always will. It's just a shame it had to be glossed over for obvious reasons in the years following.
In WWE, their logic is always that triple threats are no DQ.
It’s no dq everywhere you can’t dq a match with more than two people if you did who get the win.Makes sense plus you can do things that you can’t in a normal one on one.Not every match needs to be straight up one on one. I think they were worried Roman would get cheered now that he's the character fans have wanted for years and they know Bryan will always be the babyface if that's the intent. He's teflon.
And yet Edge was clearly the #1 fan favorite going by crowd reactions. People wanted to see him win the title again after all those years and coming back from a forced retirement, heel turn be damned. While JASON MOMOA exists....Roman Reigns can't have a mainstream career. Think about it.

What?
Why? Because they look kinda similar? What does that have to do with how much success Roman Reigns could have?
Jim ain’t never lied about the OnlyFanz 😂😂😂😂😂💯

I think WWE made it one of their "official" rules that triple threats are no dq.
Jimmy should manage Brock if he comes back and go into a angle with Brock and Roman with Paul. Imagine seeing Jim vs Paul on the mic again. But I know Jim wouldn’t ever do it because he just didn’t want to do it anymore but fun to think about 😂👌
Walter makes more sense.
After some things Cornette has said about Sable he probably wouldn't get anywhere near Brock. Not that Brock has listened to anything Jim has said but someone would go out of there way to show him.
Now that would be actually entertaining!
Instead have him manage Bobby Lashley
WWE would expect him to wear something other than track pants so that's not happening.
The transition to Steven P Knew is the best part
Why does Cornette even ask Brian what he thinks when he just says I AGREE WITH EVERYTHING YOU SAID
To his credit, he did take a stand for himself during Sasha vs. Bianca
“3-ways are always rotten?” Daniel Bryan was in one of the best Triple Threat matches of all time just a few years ago at Mania. What is he talking about?
I think he just hates anything wwe does lol
At least no one kicked out of the concerto! This was a good ending.
The ending was the worst part of the match. It seems the company is killing off its top talent every ppv
@@tayc9855 subjective. They both had him in a losing predicament. They screwed eachother over on their own eyes. They herled on each other. Edge list sight if his goal cuz he snapped. This was emphatic. A fucking statement made.

If edge had of focused on reigns after hitting bryan with the chair on thd outside, he would have beaten him before Jey got back. Paul Heyman took a rock bottom on the announce table at Summerslam 2002. He also took other bumps since 1994.
He took a handful of bumps in his feud with Punk in 2013. And in 2017 with Joe he got choked out. That’s the last bumps I can think of
Edge had a handicap match against Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman for the title at the 2002 U.K. Rebellion pay per view. Heyman took a few bumps for Edge while Brock was out of the way, like a spear off the apron and DDT after the match ended. It was very entertaining.

I thought Roman should face one of them Saturday and the other on Sunday and retain. I liked the match. Overall wrestle mania was pretty good. I really liked night one. Night two wasn’t that great, but on the whole i enjoyed it.
Night1 was an average mania night. Two was an average raw night.

Night 1 was good Bad Bunny was Awesome.
Any wrestling fan with any sense of the business know Bryan had no business in there and the concept of the Royal Rumble was destroyed. Reigns vs Edge was all was needed.
It'll happen at Wrestlemania Backlash but of course they'll screw that up and have DB interfere so they can have this Edge DB match they been teasing that no one really wants but kinda would be ok seeing
I guess u don't remember all the other times they did this. Off the top of my head I know they did it with benoit and I'm pretty sure there's been others I just don't remember. But to say this has ruined the concept of the rumble is wrong.
Edge had a massive comeback story. Won the rumble at his age. 10 years to the date. What else do you need to sell a story? Daniel Bryan bitching his way in was not needed and in fact brought it down. 3rd wheel.
Imo, DBry winning wouldn't have made sense which didn't happen, but did Shawn Michaels joining the triple threat match ruin the concept? Did Rey Mysterio joining the triple threat after losing his match to keep his rumble privledge ruin the concept? The winner still gets a world title match in the main event of mania. And in storyline purposes, it made much sense why Daniel Bryan would be in since Edge who was special guest referee/enforcer when he chose to not do his job and cost Bryan his title match which makes much more sense why he'd be added to a triple threat than HBK and Rey Mysterio
They put Bryan in there for the betterment of match which was the right choice.I seen everything edge has done since he came back and other than that Backlash match with Orton he hasn’t been that great.Edge as baby face doesn’t work like it does when he’s a heel it’s his natural role and so.At the start of the year people were more interested in Bryan vs Reigns than Reigns vs Edge at mania. They made the right call Bryan didn’t win it in 2014 but thankfully they came to there senses added him it ended being better because Orton vs Batista would have not gone over well.Another great triple threat mania match was the one at WM 20.Sometimes a story calls for a triple threat main event. This was one they both had claims Edge won the rumble Bryan has been screwed By Reigns and made him tape out so he should win the title if the ref didn’t get taken out.It was the right call.

I gotta disagree with Jim on this one. While at first I wasn’t into bryan being added to the match, it still turned out to be a great main event. One of the better Wrestlemania main events since WM 30 WM31 imo
3 guys I enjoy a lot and sure the match could have been different in styles of it being a 3-way but I enjoyed it. And it’s good that they keep Roman the champ and keeps having that heat on him as a heel. So hopefully they work this into a good story line once smackdown comes on Thursday.

The entire time I couldn't figure out how Daniel Bryan wasn't the 2nd heel in this story lol.
Because he’s Daniel Bryan. Just like HBK always did heel things but wasn’t heel much. Same as Eddie
In the logic of the storyline it actually makes sense, though I see some of Jim's points.
1. Daniel Bryan wins title shot against Roman, title shot is presented in dubious circumstances.
2. Daniel requests rematch against Roman, is obliged.
3. Edge feels that Daniel is trying to step into his spotlight. Tells Bryan as much.
4. Bryan tells Edge, in nonchalant terms, piss off.
5. Roman has a advantage with Uso and Adam Pierce books a "winner becomes a special enforcer" that benefits Roman or Daniel, depending on who wins.
6. Edge wins, Roman looses a advantage, but Edge has a slight against Daniel, so it's a interesting dynamic
7. Roman and Daniel tear the house down, build it up, set it on fire, tear it down again, and rebuild it for the homeless in a hell of a Match.
8. Shenanigans lead to referee's death, it was a sad one, Funeral is next Thursday.
9. Edge becomes defacto ref, steps in, Pisses both off.
10. Uso penitentiary holds monthly meeting, decides to kick all heads off and use chair. Fail to instruct how to prevent chair from falling into enemy hands, and also how not to get ass kicked.
11. Daniel, the one that told Edge to piss off, hits Edge with chair because the Babyface decided to Heel against the Heel and fucked up and hit Babyface by accident because ducking is the world's greatest move.
12. Submit damnit, also no ref, and Edge is laid out, maybe, idk, he has the Ref disease possibly
13. Roman taps, on camera, but Edge doesn't care. Why? Because dude he feels is stepping into his spotlight, and who told him to kindly piss off sorta, hit him with a chair. Accident or not, fuck him, also imma beat his ass.
14. Beats his ass.
15. Roman "survives"
16. Now there is proof that Bryan could've won, Edge interfering keeping him from doing so, and Roman isn't the dominant tribal chief.
17. Triple Threat time. Edge snaps, because his whole persona since 2005 is as the ultimate opportunist, and somewhat insane.
18. Shenanigans, Brawls, and Alcohol. Also Uso
19. Wrestlemania time.
20. Good match, Daniel Bryan vs Roman was better.
Certain points in the match are, eh. But since forever the Triple Threat in WWE has always meant No DQ. Edge going for the Con-Chair-To instead of the win has more to do with his mind snapping because Daniel stole his spotlight, than going for the win. Again actually fits his character.
Uso is overused as Romans weapon. Dude loses all his matches yet is the most impactful in Romans. They had Paul Heyman, use the fucker. Why have Paul with Roman when he hardly ever even speaks. Outside of that, Roman winning is fine with me, doing so in a "Dominant" pose when we all know it was more of survival and Uso, is Heelish for me. But fucking hell Uso is more competent at keeping the belt on Roman than the entire stable of Evolution was keeping the belt on Triple H, it's stupid booking
I was completely fine with this story. Edge snaps thatscwht didnt cover right away.
