Low key my man is one of, if not THE most committed to making any NLSS they're on as entertaining as possible. I really wish the people who take Apollo too seriously in these types of moments were watching his perspectives during a lot of the Unity streams in the past, cause he's mentioned numerous times how much he cares about the banter and wanting to do what he can to keep it up a lot of the time. While thankfully the majority seem to understand this, some can't seem to wrap their head around the idea he too like the others push arguments and bits to an extreme for the sake of entertainment. Sometimes he gets salty at certain games and that can be a drag, I won't deny that, but it's times like these that cement him as such an important and wonderful addition to the NLSS. ♥

Sometimes he isn't wrong, though and chat still jumps all over him. It's basically only food that he's consistently wrong about and that's because he eats fast-food chicken from door dash for a third of his meals.

When I was a kid I used to also save my beverage for last during a meal. And I'm not saying this in a "Heh, yeah I did that, but then I grew up" dickhead manner. I tended to save my drink for last because as a kid I didn't cook and what my parents/family served me, most of the time it was something I fucking hated. I would choke down the slop I ate and at the end chug my beverage to wash away the repugnant taste. I'm still traumatized by soup, and no I'm not having a soup argument.
If there's one thing I'm happy I learned, it's to cook for myself. And that's not saying I'm some phenomenal chef, I simply know what I like and learned to make it to a serviceable quality I'm content with. If there's one piece of advice you can take from this wizened old man of 23, just learn to cook.
I know this video is 2 years old, but I just want to let people know that the start of the chicken salad story is actually the MIDDLE of it. Rob is the one to bring this up because him/Apollo and 2 other former-youtubers [Green9090 and ZenAndCyrene] used to do collab a lot on the latter's weekly series where this came up MULTIPLE times through various forms of bits. These collabs are legitimately part of the reason why Rob and Apollo are my favorite members of the NLSS, and I probably wouldn't have gotten too much into the NLSS without them.

Look, I'll agree that putting mayo and chicken in a bowl and calling it chicken salad is weird, but there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with a mayo and chicken sandwich, obviously you can enhance it with other ingredients, but chicken and mayo go together just fine.

Apollo is like the absolute worst at articulating their points. I find myself agreeing a lot on the texture front, but like everything is worded much much stronger than I imagine they actually feel.
Also I never thought to blend my Salsa, but there's an idea. I already blend onions, tomatoes, celery, bell peppers, etc and etc. because the texture gets to me, but maybe now I can enjoy Salsa too
Also strawberry ice cream, sans chunks or otherwise is fucking great. Truly my favourite flavour. And is Clam Chowder liked by Canadians more than Americans? Basically everyone I know LOVES Clam Chowder (Myself included) but in the States everyone thinks it vomit inducing
the only texture argument i can see being made is if it's a food you are familiar with and it's preparation has gone horribly wrong somewhere and you can tell it by biting into it, ex biting into cooked onion only for it to have a chewy rubbery texture. I can make a concession for extremely chewy foods(cooked squid or octopus) or very bitter foods (citrus peels or dandelion greens) since they are hit or miss for some peoples palates but anything else just sounds like your parents fed you pretty poorly variety wise growing up for your palate to be so hyper narrow. I still give NL shit for his fucked up food schisms

Id love to see these guys try to drink dark roast fresh bean coffee black. I love coffee but its to strong to drink black imo at least like alittle milk at least makes it tolerable but still they gaslighting apollo when they drinking light roast with filtered water. Great work sir toasty ive never been so mad and entertained at same time lmao
100's of thousands of people drink that daily, it's called expresso. I used to drink expresso at a local cafe with something sweet like cake or pie but my favorite way to drink average blonde or medium roast is with some cream and like a 1/4 tsp of sugar for higher end coffee i drink it black if dark roast or some cream with blonde or medium roast. It's all about the acidity of the beans dark roast will have less acid but taste more bitter blondes and mediums have higher acidity even more so with cheaper beans so you need to cut them with something or it leaves a dry film in your mouth.

I do drink _regular_ coffee with sugar though. But I exclusively drink it as a pick-me-up and an alternative to energy drinks.

The argument about the coffee makes me so irate because they say the only problem is people who only like sweet things, but did and continue to bemoan people who only eat chicken nuggets/mac and cheese/pizza/anything else that's not sweet. I get it's partly playing the character but damn their food arguments get me wound up sometimes. Don't blame Apollo in the slightest.
because eating food that comes from a box/container shows that you've barely learned any self-sufficiency life skills (also it's usually unhealthy and/or mostly carbs) and only ordering take out food underlines that even more because people who buy take out food can't even argue that that is their healthy meal of the day/week because even with higher price take out their aim isn't it being healthy but it tasting good.
In order to eat healthy and not cook your own food would require someone to cook that food for you and i don't mean a restaurant (maybe vegan restaurants but they are about 3x the price of a normal meal) i mean like a live in chef and we fucking know almost no one has the income to pay a whole other persons salary just to cook for them.

It's the same thing everyone arguing with Apollo did; they have a point, but they're representing it as if it's based in some objective measure. A homemade lasagna is made of ingredients that come from boxes/containers. A box of Kraft Dinner is also made of ingredients that come from boxes/containers. It's not a problem because they're entitled to their views but nobody has explained why theres a difference. Apollo is probably the closest with his statement that it's just because of societal pressure, which is still totally arbitrary.
I get worried when I agree with an Austin food take, because it inches me ever closer to eating oily fried fish with my hands.

Apollo thinks people who like bitter foods are tricking themselves, and Ryan thinks people who like sweet things are children and/or bitches. Ryan is a FATHER now, I hope he's grown past that argument.

Some taste palates take longer to form. If you don't eat or drink something often you wouldn't tell the difference between between something ok and something really good.

His argument is that putting 700oz of cream in it makes it tolerable. 700oz of cream with no coffee still tastes better. The only reason for the coffee in the drink is for the caffeine, bit the only reason to put it into ice cream is to make it taste like coffee, and coffee's only defining flavor is bitterness/roast.
4:42 as a Texan, Apollo is absolutely wrong here. TX tap water is the best out of any state that I can recall trying tap water in. Especially when you consider places like LA and flint exist, you have to rate Texas as at least above average when it comes to tap

Apollo is in the right for 90% of this. Bitter foods are bad. Texas water is a gamble at best. Texture is half of what makes food good, and if it's fucked up than what's the point.
