Im making good money.This week im falling below 5k.I was running recaps.Picked a load up didn't get any hours back to deliver Friday. I was stuck sitting on it.I stopped in Vegas and had some fun.I don't have limits on mysrlf.I drive day or night. I will blow my 22 everyday. I do 8/2 and 7/3 splits.I do everything to set myself up to get loaded when empty.
I'm with US Xpress and they keep me moving. Averaging between $2.30 to $2.40 per mile. 67% LH, 100% FS and no trailer fees. I live in NC and always have a load waiting on me coming back out.

I feel ya I’m driving in silence and dragging everything out. I’m home daily, but I’m never home. I spent 16 hours in the truck yesterday and then another 45 minutes driving home. Basically just came in and said two words and hit the bed. And I’m back at it again today. I feel like the end goal maybe isn’t to turn trucking into an AI driven job, but maybe into some thing like McDonald’s or restaurant work. We’re drivers make only $600-$800 a week. What better way to destroy a country‘s infrastructure. Demoralize the ones who move the products to the shelves. If you were people want to drive, eventually parts of society will start to fail. We are a long ways from that. But it feels like they’re trying to break us down. On top of us being in a recession.

My fleet manager said average pay for his fleet right now is $1,100 weekly for lease ops. I’ve been averaging $1,000 weekly for the past two months. I’ve been leasing with Prime for 4 years so it’s not like I’m running wrong. Prime freight really sucks right now.

Good Morning, I commented on another video you posted. So others reading this comment has some background, I started trucking in 96’.
I run my own truck, trailer and my own numbers, I am not leased on to anyone. Here’s how I figure out a load and run my business, why am I sharing this with you?
I could keep this to myself however I see you guys/gals struggling and honestly focused on the wrong metrics. I know the industry tells everyone to worry about Rate Per Mi but that doesn’t mean anything to me.
Revenue Per Day is ALL that matters and your TIME.
Example from your video:
- Total Miles: 1200
- Load paid $900
- 1200 miles divided by 7 mpg = 171 gallons needed
- 171 gallons multiply by the cost of fuel, to make this easy we will say fuel cost is $3.00/gallon
- Total Fuel Cost $514.00
Now do the math for the trip & your time/days traveled.
- $900.00 minus $514 = $386.00
- 1200 miles is 2 days transit (600 miles per day)
- Now take the $386.00 divide by 2 (for 2 day transit)
- Gross money just after fuel is $386.00
Or
- $193.00 per day
You won’t last a month if you take loads like this, I’m not trying to be rude here but you need at least $550/day after fuel.
Look at your gross dollars after fuel and pick time and drop times (number of days on a load) the rate per miles means absolutely nothing.
Get paid for your time so you can pay for your truck and your family.
Stay safe.

Flatbed really good in the spring and summer most of the fall cause of construction season and for refeer maybe good late summer until winter for produce loads. And meat loads in the mid-west. But it always say where you are at the time and place to be
