Are You Cleaning Your Insulated Cups Properly?

- Although Stanley cups are the new status symbol, some social media videos have shown them covered in grime after they have been used. Country singer Emily Zeck says her Stanley cup was harboring quite a bit of mold after she didn’t clean it frequently. To test the cleanliness of some tumblers, Inside Edition swabbed several Stanley cups and other brands from women who admitted they don't clean them enough. Inside Edition’s Lisa Guerrero has more.
It blows my mind how this is a shock to anybody. Did you think it magically cleaned itself?
Fr if it comes off then wash it lol 😅
Right!!!
Exactly. I can't believe the first lady would show her filth, it's common sense to clean every part of the bottle!!
Almost made the exact comment but then saw you already saved the day.
Like how stupid could they be?
😂😂
This is actually embarrassing. I thought it would be common sense to clean any cup/bottle after you use it.
What I'm sayin
People often don't clean reusable straws well enough, too. Same with soft rubber (like mentioned in video).
Which is why you can’t eat at everyone’s house
@@mikuforlife1929trust nobody but God.
I don't. I only keep water in mine and washed it every week. Then I found mold in my rubber straw. And then I have one which I use to keep alcohol on weekends on the lake. I think I ended up getting a bit of lead poisoning from putting Twisted tea in it.
I cannot believe in 2024 you have to tell "adults" to clean their water bottle🤦♀️ Wash them in the sink thoroughly AND let them wash and sanitarize in the dishwasher.
I can't believe in 2024 we still have people who can't listen to the videos. They literally said they clean them. Just not thorough enough.
@@TheMidnightNarwhal I listened, you clearly didn't. Get the skit out of your ears.
Those "adults" never had to do any chores in life and had their parents do it. It goes to show that parents really need to give their kids chores in the house so they understand the importance of hygiene and be bacteria free.
Well ur not supposed to put those cups in the dishwasher cause it ruins em. But i get what you mean people need to do better handwashing tf is wrong with this generation. Its the same thing during covid did nobody wash their hands to begin with.
Sanitarize? Did you mean sanitize?
So I’m assuming cleaning a cup you use every would be an everyday thing but maybe I’m just not in the “ IN CROWD “ LMAO😂😂😂😂😂
Yes who doesn't know that? That is why companies had disposable cups!
I used Thermos for coffee. You have to clean them a lot.
All those types of cups seem annoying to clean hence why I don’t have any.
Hydro flask just goes in the dishwasher I don’t understand getting all those fancy straw cups that leak everywhere. It’s a whole Lotta money for a whole Lotta nothing. 😂😂😂 i’ve had the same Hydro flask for 14 years.
@@ilyaalister8193 Most people don't own a dishwasher.
Just put it in the dishwasher. I only use mine for water only.
I just have a Yeti Rambler. It just has three pieces to wash: the bottle itself, the mouthpiece you drink from, & the lid.
Find one without any rubber or silicone. It's less insulating, but easier to clean
Mine comes off. I think people just get lazy and continue to pour things in it or quickly rinse it out. Common sense to take it apart. Use a cupful of bleach in warm water.
Also, throw out the tops and straws. Just drink straight out of the cups themselves. There is no reason to use the tops unless you're a small child or clumsy enough to knock your drink over.
I have a Yeti Rambler. It has three parts: the bottle, the mouthpiece, & the lid. The only rubber but is the ring around the mouthpiece to keep it from leaking.
I wash it if not everyday, at least after day 2.
And have yall never washed toddlers sippy cups? Same thing😂
What’s so special about a cup? The new trend is dumb 😂
It’s sad because there’s been plenty of other brands and companies manufacturing the same products.
kids get excited about getting a drinking cup for xmas?...not a toy...a drinking cup?
This generation about to get a cup for every Christmas 😂
Lemmings
well, its something theyre not gonna throw away and ignore after a month 😆
Thought I was alone on that one
Consumerism hit a new peak
This is how all ice machines get when not maintained at least once every month. A lot of restaurants sometimes don't do their maintenance for months, and mold/bacteria grow like crazy as well as touching the ice every time it's making the ice.
not all bacteria is bad, and most is never going to kill you, you rin much more risk by driving your car than drinking ice water
@@AdamThygerson-lm1gt clean your ice machine if you have a restaurant. No one wants mold contaminates
Those countertop household ones grow mold too, you would have to clean it every day diligently to prevent it
So is this what gives McDonalds ice its flavor?
Yes, that's why I always ask for no ice!
A 3 minute exposé reminding us to wash our dishes? Just what I needed. Now I can get started on this pile that's been building for 35 years. Thanks 🙄
just stick to Yeti and Rtic, they're easier to clean.
Yeti is overpriced just stiack with yo basic ozark tumbler
Or just stick with a plastic bottle or cup
They can get dirty just as easily too if people don’t wash after every use.
Or just clean it
I'm sticking with the 20oz poland spring bottle that my friend gave me in sophomore year in hs because I was too poor to buy one.
A good tip; smell it on the inside. If it smell funky; clean that gunky.
Imagine trying to flex on people that you have a Stanley cup 😭😭😭
See this what black people don’t do. We don’t care about no damn Stanley cup we use any cup tbh. 😂 overhyping a cup is crazy.
@@xxccrulezno one asked about what race isn't into Stanley cups. It's about being hygienic and actually cleaning the cups like any normal dish you own at home.
Imagine being more ashamed of not being hygienic to wash a cup daily and only to find out that bacteria is within the cups. Smh
I have a generic. It's called Stanlie.
@@xxccrulez Dude the first person in this video was a black person getting excited about these cups. Did you even watch this?
@@LoTzzzzzzz I’m referring to black people as a whole not just one person looking for a free cup. 💀 if we watched the same video then you would see it was mostly white people going crazy over these cups buddy. It’s not that deep.
And at the end of the year they’re going to be collecting dust in the back of peoples cupboards.
I had to laugh at the video of the woman buying one in every color and design. That fool has spent hundreds of $$$$ on a bunch of thermal cups. She'll have to build more cupboards for her collection. Must be nice to have that kind of money to burn 😂
Or at Goodwill.
damn people don't know the top pops apart? I clean mine daily, popped apart, rinsed first with hot water and scrubbed with a sponge on both sides and inside and out, lid taken apart, little brush for the straw
i'm happy to know that i DON'T USE THEM AT ALL
A good set of bottle brushes is a must-have for any water bottle.
My drink holder, a Contigo, gets a good wash in hot soapy water every time it’s emptied throughout the day. Washing daily is emphasized in the included instructions. Why on earth would anyone keep using their cup day after day without washing it? We’ve become a population of lazy fools! Folks get very sick from unwashed thermal containers frequently, essentially they poison themselves. I’ve seen many very sick folks who don’t wash their cups throughout my nursing career. 🇨🇦🖖🏻🇨🇦
You need to clean them. I have one not even Stanley brand but yes.. The plastic will harbor bacteria.
Clean after every use. As the one I used, they even sold a replacement straw and mouthpiece that should be replaced yearly at least.
Don't have a Stanley cup. Don't need it. The reusable water bottle I do have goes in the dishwasher.
I don't use Stanley cups, but I do have a couple Iron Flask water bottles. I hated having to wash it but knew (because of common sense of course) I needed to regularly for the sake of cleanliness/health. So I got a second one to rotate when I knew I was due for a cleaning and could quickly just switch. It helps a ton!
Stanley cup fans: ew what is that!?
Normal people: unwashed bottle that can be easily cleaned if you use dish soap and a sponge.
I just leave the lid off when I run my truck through the car wash
Ya there is a button on the bottom that covers a lead disc. I guess they use that for weight so it does not tip over.
What a great idea! Ima do my dishes and utensils too!
I thought this was normal to clean a water bottle after every use even if it’s just water 😅
Just like how you thought getting a nose ring was normal, right?
You be surprised how many people don’t clean the inside of their cups after they use them tbh. Its disgusting.
laziness🤷🏻♀️ imagine how dirty they live lol
@@ericpratt984 What has getting a nose ring got to do with washing a bottle?
@@xxccrulez I never even thought about that 😅😂
I have a Yeti Tumblr my sister gave me for my birthday, it's pretty easy to clean.
This is honestly one of the most embarrassing obsessions in the last 10 years
Never heard of Stanley cups. Sounds like a paid advisement for them. How hard is it to clean a cup with hot water and soap. Next we will be telling people you have to take the cap off a tube of toothpaste to actually use it.
They don’t need advertising they really big… it’s so stupid
Bro you’ve never heard of Stanley? 😳
@@luiv.7550 Heard of Yeti, Contigo and Coleman. Don't use a water bottle so I'm not into that much.
Not very good advertising isit! Hey ppl buy this overpriced cup it'll make you sick
If you’ve never heard of a Stanley cup by now, you’re living under a rock.
This is a trend that should be remembered 10 years from now
I remember a time when people had to be told to clean the rubber of yeti lids... I want to say it was less than five years ago.
Can't believe this is news again after such a short time.
Welcome to a news cycle.
This is why you wash your dishes by hand.
Why not drink out of mason jars?
Weren't canning jars cool a while back?
Have many 1/2 pint pint quart 1/2 gallon . Use for drinking storing cooking growing sprouts . Vacuum seal food in
mason jars .
Mason jars don’t keep your drinks cold like insulated cups do. Also insulated cups also keep your drinks hot.
During the 2008 recession it was shabby chique... Really people probably couldn't afford cups 2008 was rough.
This is why I use denture cleaning tablets to clean all my water bottles.
Cheap, simple and easy.
Good idea. I have some lying around I can use I only need it for the mouth piece anyways.
Boil water and dump in the lid in, same method we clean needles for reuse in Africa
My mom always grills me about cleaning my Thermos all the time, and reminds me to wash it twice before refilling, especially if you use it to store coffee
If you have the coffee sitting around for more than one hour, it is best to dump it all the way, because the milk you may had added to your coffee may had cooled down enough to allow lactic bacteria to grow
Fecking hell people have brands of sippy cup they drink from now? What has the world come to.
If you ever had to wash your baby's bottles, you'll know how much milk gunk can accumulate. Take everything apart. Dish soap & hot water. Moldy? Use distilled white vinegar and popcorn kernals.
"Travel blogger" unemployed person who takes selfies
I have a different top, no straw, but there Is a hole which is like half an inch big. It's one, simple, piece, so It's easy to clean.
IT'S A GOD DAMN CUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
fr
Wash your cups people. Whether it’s handwashing or dishwashing, just keep them clean.
I don't sip outta the straw from my cups I drink with my mouth/lips!!
I'm glad I don't have a STANLEY and I'm just living with my wonderful Wal-Mart water bottle
If you’re broke just say that. 💅🏼
I use a generic. It's called Stanlie.
Ew, no. That would ruin the seasoning.
Grow up and clean your cup
@@DG-nk7jo It wasn't a serious comment.
@@Decay19XX Don’t worry about it. I got the joke, and I think it’s pretty funny. 👍🏾
It's just like a child's sippy cup 😂
Is it worth living if I don't have one of
these Stanley cups?
No
😂😂😂 I don't have one. Traumatized 😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂, can’t sue a company if you can’t clean after yourself
a guy sued a company that said red bull gives you wings cause he was mad that he didn't get no actual wings and he won suing them🤦♀️
People act like they just invented Stanley Cups.
Watching those people trying to get their hands on one of these ridiculous Stanley cups is like watching a bunch of lemmings heading over the cliff! And now they’re making themselves sick by not cleaning it properly! T😊
It’s a sippy cup for adults, it’s shocking.
I had one I cleaned with soapy water. There must have been too much soap because everytime I put coffee in it afterwards, it came out with a sheen and foamy. I cleaned it several times after that with just water and there is still soap inside of it.
Who doesn't wash their bottle after each use. Maybe because i work in a hospital, I was mine every time i use it.
trust me a gatorade water bottle is 10x better then a rusty stanley cup
Bruh did they not talk about the led in that same cup😑
Thats why i always use yeti. Very easy to clean the lid
I have insulated bottle and i clean it every night (i fill it from morning till whole day) and make sure i even sanitized it with hot water and make sure i air dry it before closing them(lid) or u will see black molds building up.
Notice how they didn’t mention the results for the Yeti cup 😂
I guess it was the cleanest
It’s the rubber pieces. I got a big yeti and I use it for coffee everyday and multiple refills. I give it a good rinse every day and take the ring of lid and cover of closure and complete scrub every other day.
I like Starbucks tumblers and I wash them after every use, but they have a rubber insulation circle around the inside of the top lid which collects mold. Taking that part out to clean after every single use would be annoying because its inserted tightly in a groove, I just took them out and the cup works just as fine but doesn't collect mold there, maybe its slightly less insulated but I don't notice a difference
I never thought about that; 🤔 I bought one of those little brushes that has a piece that you can pry up the piece and then clean. I didn’t know you could take it completely off, I thought that sealed it from leaking.
@@SasukeChiIt does seal it from leaking but I have always taken it off. You just have to be careful not to knock it over.
Best to buy the easy to clean ones
I'll stick to a cup..
My Stanley cup left the door open and made my dog run away
just fill it with hot boiled water and leave it overnight
Do I really need to clean the bottle that used only for cold water? I did for straw though
Makes me proud to be a Simple Modern girlie. Less crevices that someone could miss. Theres the obivous crevices around the lid where it screws in and the straw is just a straight up plastic straw so as long as youve got a straw cleaner, you should be good to go. And I use a bottle brush to reach the bottom of the cup, too.
When was the last time they said they cleaned it though?
As a person was a tumbler with simple modern I’m just surprised I thought everyone cleans their water bottle
Yes. I know how to wash dishes. Simple Modern is a better product though 🙌🏾
Who needs a Stanley when you have solo.
One of the main reasons I went with Yeti.
How do people not know to clean everything from these by now?
I still have my tervis tumblers, lids come apart, easy to clean and SQUEAKY 🌟⚡️ CLEAN!!!
I just use a regular cup like a normal human. Stop buying everything.
The water spout on my fridge be like... YEA IM MOLDY!!!
Also best to buy light coloured ones so that you can see the gunks.
Going to be funny if these kids ever realize they wasted their birthday or Christmas present wish on something to drink out of because it was popular on some dumbass social media app.
I assume that everyone that owns a Stanley cup is a hockey fan! 😂
On ya stanley cup dude, 😂😂😂😂
I am! Dont even have to watch the video to know how dirty under the cap can get.
Why is everyone love those cups it’s just cups😂
NOW I’M DEFINITELY NOT SWAPPING FROM MY YETI CUP TO A STANLEY CUP 😢
I never had the inkling to do so! 😆
Seriously your parents forgot to teach you to clean your beverage cups!!!
how do you get the lead out tho
Watching the last litteraly put her cup onto likely a communal coffee maker.... Also it takes allot of hot water and soap to cleæn. All compontents of anything you drink from they even sell baby bottle purah kits that can help you get in every area but nothing will be perfect but as close to possible. Also plastics and slicone parts will keep more bacteria in so its really important to know how to clean and likely how hot your water should be to sterlize everything.
Lolz, I’ve had my Stanley thermos for six years and I have to clean that thing four times a week
And that's the single reason why I don't use cups with million little parts.
Another reason why I do not have a fancy reusable water bottle. All of those parts that have to be cleaned daily! Sometimes multiple times a day if you switch up your beverage. It is impossible to properly clean a reusable cup on the go.
I never use reusable water bottles I always had a feeling they were holding mold
So people don't drink their cups properly? This shouldn't even be a problem.
I think I'll just stick with water bottles.
I'm only 20 years old and far from being perfect but why does everyone seem so irresponsible and unable nowadays? All we do is post on tiktok to figure out the most basic stuff
I have never heard of that
If my dishwasher can’t properly clean my cups oh well😂 don’t use Stanley but other brands haha
They laughing but they need to be a recall
I have been using my Stanley for about 12 years. Ya’ll just figured out about this company. Well they say I’m a trend setter.
Yeti is way better.
The opener is magnetic.
Esier to clean.
Use water and anti bacterial soap??.. nah, just wipe using your toilet paper roll. 😂
😂😂 Stanley I’ll go to 5 below get me one for 5 bucks
It's why i don't use these and i don't use KEURIG! They harbor all kinds of mold and bacteria especially the standing water and water/moisture in the machine.
thats common on those insulated cups you have to carefully clean em carefully and more often
