Shades of my youth! I worked and hung out at Smale’s Pace coffee house in London Ontario in 1972-73. This song brings back so many memories. Thanks.
Most underrated CDN band. This album was gold.
These Guys Are The Best! As a kid, i heard them in 1985. love them ever since! Thanks very much for sharing!
:)
LOVE THIS SONG...this is the best version by far by any bluegrass band
:)
My parents had this on 8 track, and later on a mixed cassette. This song brings back so many good memories of driving around in our old '79 F250 Crew Cab, with this song playing in the cassette deck.
:)
My friend I worked with in Toronto, Paul Taylor, player lead guitar with these boys for four years. What a blast they were at parties.
Class :)
I'm Paul Taylors son. Where did you work with him? Do you have any party stories about Paul?;)
Hi Dan. It was at Crosslink in Rexdale/Toronto back in 87-88...about a year and a half. Party stories? Not too many, just that The Good Brothers smoked so much dope that he had to leave the band for that as they were wired all the time. LOL Say hi for me. He may not want to hear about me as I quit a little angrily but we got along for the most part. I went into military weapon systems after that.
notyme for mike And now your tellin dumb stories out of class . . . . cool.
Love the Good Brothers. Sae them many times when they played at the Red Barn in Oshawa. What a party!!!!!
These boys appeared on Telemiracle, a Telethon in Saskatchewan this year. they were great! And so much fun to be around!!
What a great group they were. Saw them for the first time at Western University opening for Gordon Lightfoot in the early 70's. They described their music as "back porch" Saw them many times after that at a little coffee house in London, Ontario called "Smales Pace"
Smales Pace is legendary. Check out Garnett Rogers' book containing a chapter on it, if you can.
1st time I saw them was in 1975 in a bar in Simcoe, Ontario..what a blast partying with them too
Cool! :)
The Coronet in Kitchener....crazy nights listening to the Goods !
that was a wild place.Did you ever go to the Matador in Galt
@@beliveausboys71 oh yeah and The Tudor Tavern in Preston 👍
I saw them only once, at the Coronet in Kitchener, but it was very much a party atmosphere. I like the Good Brothers version best, but it was originally sung by Manfred Mann of all bands in 1968.
@@beliveausboys71 This is so cool. Ive heard many of my dads stories from the Matador... Gotta thank my old man for my taste in music. Keep the stories flowing :)
I would like to dedicate this great song to a very special friend of mine
Mr. John Stevens, who passed away from a sudden heart attack, this song was Johns favorite. John this ones for you buddy may you rest in peace. Thank you for posting.
RIP to your friend!!

A good fun band at the Coronet back in the 80's.
:)
Opened for The Good Brothers in Orangeville, Ont - 1985
Gotta love that
:)
Thanks for posting this song Debbie! . I wore out more than 1 pair of cowboy boots and probably a few partners dancing to this song in my youth. Great memories!!
:)
so hard to find this version of the song, but I finally found it. Needed it to practice for a dance class. Thanks so much!
:)
Best version!
A truly great bluegrass band. Often associated with Gordon Lightfoot, who they played backup for for a number of years.
absolutely phenomenal
:)
Thanks for sharing this one! :)
:)
saw them in a bar on the danforth in toronto years ago, and between sets ran into the twins in the mens room... in one of those awkward adjacent urinal moments i asked them if they'd play 'kitty star' -- they said sure and asked my name... the next set they dedicated the song to me, which was way above and beyond... straight-up solid cats
Wow!
