This was the first movie that really affected me emotionally. I was 5 years old and glued to my seat in wonder. My eyes never left the screen and I can vividly remember the immense feeling of excitement and joy. When the movie was over and the theater lights came up I threw the biggest fit of my young life. I never wanted it to end! A friend of my Mom's asked if I was OK and she just laughed and told him I didn't want it to be over but I'd live. The songs still deeply affect me to this day, and it will forever by one of my favourite movies.

I watched this movie for the first time yesterday and the whole thing felt like a big adventure in a place I've never been to. I ended up buying the Blu-ray after I watched it

It’s April 2021 now I was born in 1997 and am now 23 but saw this movie from 1969 for the first time 3 days ago and it honestly changed my life, the music is so original the characters I feel I’ve known before the dancing scenes are iconic and the message of leaving the jobs that have been tying you down and going out to find adventure, Barbara was so ahead of her time this movie does not feel as old as it is, seize the day before the parade passes by is one of the most impactful messages I’ve taken from any film I’ve seen, they do not make movies like this anymore unfortunately

1997 was an eventful year, indeed! As well as being the year you were born, Corben, it's the year both Princess Diana and Mother Teresa died! And speaking of "leaving the jobs that have been tying you down", it's also the year that I, at the age of 40, got fired for the first, last and only time in my life!

This really was a wonderful film and the perfect follow up to FUNNY GIRL for Barbra Streisand to have taken. A lot of this film’s success had to do with the brilliant direction of Gene Kelly and the beautiful choreography of Michael Kidd.

Sure she was young to play Dolly but her energy and vocals just make you forget how young she was.

Barbra Streisand totally rocks in this role. The entire cast is smack bang.
My German stepfather loved American Jazz and Louis Armstrong was perhaps the first name that regustered with me on hearing Louis' Hello Dolly blaring out of the small speakers audio streamed from room to room.

Came here from "Freakazoid!" I heard the first epiosode of season two directly referenced a scene here and had to check it out for my self. And gotta say, their humor is quite similar, and Dolly seems like a roaring good time

I’m 30, been ten years since I discovered this classic and I’ve viewed it 3-4 times now. The stage version is better but the movie has redeeming quality to spare. Like most millennials, the first pop culture reference I’ve seen of it was Wall-E.

Barbra Streisand is hot AF in this movie and Cornelius is a prototype Frank Spencer.

It is so hard to believe that Barbra streisand would ever think to say that she should have said in my mind that she should never have made Hello Dolly when this is about as memoriable as a picture and musical she has ever made.
I think on and off stage she and Walter Matthau were born for their respective roles I mean they really could have picked a better couple for this Movie (no disrespect to Carole Channing) the love hate relationship is so apparent you couldn't have manufactured this chemistry though.
While I heard their mutal loathing was mutual and amoungst all key players - I do believe greatness was born out of great pain and if it wasn't for Barbra star megawatt I think Walter would had more love along with the hate for Barbra/Dolly but nobody but nobody could have done thi s picture with greater justice it's a piece musical and movie mastery.
I will give it to Walter who could have a more belieable natural grumpy old and tight man as Horus Vandergelder than Matthau better she was ice to his fire and nobody could have played their respective roles better and I stick by my opinion that Barbra Streisand despight lack of box office success I believe is Dolly Levi (I always image when Prince Charles fell for her it would have been watching this movie!)
No woman has had more elegance, be on par or have a more lovable personality then Barbra rendition of Dolly Levi) it will always be my favourite movie of hers.
She never beautiful or glamourous before or after a better rendition of Dolly when you have one of these iconic roles that stars were born for when other no matter how talented they are playing Hello Dolly after or even before Barbra they look rediculous even mega wattage stars. I feel that way about Babs as Dolly Levi.
Or maybe Babs is just that good no one can really follow her act less they want to look 2nd best as I notice it's the same way with Funny Girl numbers sung by numerous other younger actresses.
Here her form never better or singing for electrifyingly great performance and clearly Lousie Armstrong needs no compliments as it won it's respective due with industry accoloades.
Thank you all for making what I believe as one of the most memoriable movie and one of the most beloved musicals in movie musical history it is my favourite of all times!
