    I live near Charmouth. Love the place. Hope to go out Monday. Not very experience though. Need to know what rocks to have a bash at. Practice makes perfect I suppose!

    Great to see you out hunting, can’t wait to see what you find in those stones. Much better conditions than when we saw you last month. Looking forward to our next walk with you, Elle n Col xx

    That annoying feeling where, by watching your fossiling trip, I realise that something I didn’t take home was definitely something I should have taken home 🤪

      Yeah it’s a sweet place to collect, quite a few other beaches around here too, the Jurassic coast is the only place in the world where you can walk through 185 million years in one place from Exmouth (Triassic) all the way through to the Cretaceous at Portland, pretty awesome :) quite a few sites inland too where you can get ammonites in the fields. Would love to collect the US of States one day.

    Enjoyed the vid again 👍 we've just booked Feb 2022 half term (missed this year due to lockdown), looking forward to trying to find one of those proms in a flat stone 🤞🏼🤞🏼

      You get a few of the collectors that leave piles of broken up flatstones some of them leave quite a few bigger bits you can whack down, ups your chances of finding a nice prom or two. Always worth smacking down someone’s spoil pile for the odd small missed one.

  • @alansdorsetfossils4028

    Good vid Dan , like the music, is it Irish folk or American blue grass? I like the look of that nodule you chipped the corner off, with the proms showing, maybe a nice cluster.

    • @TheFossilAcademy
      @TheFossilAcademy  Před 2 lety +1

      I think its American, got it free off the CZcams studio. I've given that nodule a clean and the ammonites look like they run all the way through, going to save that one for when i get my iron powder machine and my new pens.

    We're in charmouth now... how do we book a guide? Would love to find a fossil or two with the kids...

    • @TheFossilAcademy
      @TheFossilAcademy  Před 2 lety +1

      All booked up this late, we usually all get booked for the holidays well in advance. Charmouth heritage coast centre will be your best bet or Lyme museum on a public walk. Although I think even the public walks will be fully booked now. Loads of good info at the Charmouth centre though, they sell a guide and a downloadable video which is handy and you can take in any finds for a free iD with one of the wardens. For a private session you want to be booking about 4-6 weeks in advance for the holidays. Hope this helps. D

    I've been fossil hunting at charmouth a few times but sadly it has been so heavily plundered now, there isn't as much really. I got a few small ammonites and found one pyritic one as well as a few belemites and what ever a "devil's claw" is

    • @TheFossilAcademy

      Always good stuff coming out after storms and wet weather, it’s not as easy as it used to be with stuff everywhere, but still amazing finds all the time.
