Explaining PWM aka Pulse Width Modulation

This is technically part 2 of 'Hot Wire Rope Cutting' but ended up being more about explaining PWM aka Pulse Width Modulation.
Power supply is an old PC power supply.
PWM controller is a generic 10-50V 30A motor controller. I'm in New Zealand and got mine here:
