Pearl Jam is my favorite band too. I’m staggered by how much talent has come from the Seattle music scene. I’m also saddened at the number of those musicians we have lost. Thank you for making this amazing video!

Dave Abruzzese was a driving force for this band. I too grew up on these guys. Without his drumming they would’ve had an entire different sound. Pearl Jam 92-95…. The best in my opinion

This is an outstanding video and homage to this amazing group that has help shape my life and is currently shaping the lives of my children! Last Kiss, Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town, Just Breathe, and Not for You are lullabies at my house. My son has even gone so far as to have Not For You as his song entry for his hockey team's playlist in the dressing room... he is 7 (2024). "Dad I just love how angry Eddie sounds." This is a quote from when he was about 5 years old cruising around listening to PJ radio. Thanks again, Enjoy the Day!

Really enjoyed this video! It did scrach my Pearl Jam itch (anxiously waiting for the new album and summer tour). I got teary-eyed at least twice, learned a couple of things I never heard before and felt proud that I knew many. Well made and with a great comforting vibe, like meeting an old friend and talking for an hour straight. Thanks!

First of all ... Great job! I have clicked on your iceberg videos a couple of times recently while scrolling through CZcams, and although I did find the videos to be very well done and informative, I admit that I never opted to subscribe to your channel. It is very obvious that the topics you "iceberg" are well researched and you present information in a way that kept my interest and was very easy to listen to. Including this iceberg, on the band Pearl Jam, I have only actually clicked on your CZcams channel 3 times, maybe 4... So was undecided if it was going to be one I watch frequently or not yet, but this documentary on Pearl Jam won me over and I will be recommending your channel to my friends! I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, and I was 16 when Seattle grunge bands first took off. I was totally resistant to Nirvana, Pearl Jam and , Soundgarden, because I was still obsessed with the hair/glam bands of my tween years, (guns-n roses, slaughter, Tesla, skid row, Metallica....) anyway, needless to say, it didn't take much to change my opinion about grunge/alternative rock however... Undeniably some of the best most moving, thoughtful, and intense lyrics as well as the gritty kinda raw, perfectly imperfect pieces of music came from the Seattle inspired grunge era... Pearl Jam however was never one of my very favorite bands back then... It was probably just because of that garbled singing style that really didn't do it for me and I would usually just change the station if Pearl Jam came on the radio... They did begin to grow on me over the years I the songs Jeremy and Better Man were undeniably fantastic, so I wouldn't call myself a hater.. just indifferent to Pearl Jam... Well, not anymore! I can't wait to revisit this blast from my past and check out some of there stuff I never even gave a chance before! What am amazing group of guys they are! How inspiring hear a story of a Rock band, that isn't filled with scandal, and conflicts, and backstabbing! How great it was to hear that these guys never let the fame and the fortune change their character! I love that they want to share their music with all of their fans and they stood up to Ticketmaster! These guys are huge and could easily sell out at large venues even still and they could get top dollar for their tickets! Like pretty much most other groups do... And act as if they don't know about that stuff cuz the managers and promoters handle that business... But Pearl Jam made sure they knew and they refused to price gouge their fans!!! Maybe bands like umm .. well, I won't name anyone because that would be rude and I also wouldn't know where to even begin! Anyway, thank you for telling this great story about such a great band! I look forward to checking out many more of your iceberg videos now that I am officially a follower and I did it... I hit that subscribe button! 😁

  • @leesydneyharry7958
    @leesydneyharry7958 Před 5 měsíci +3

Well done bra!!! Everything on CZcams regarding Pearl Jam thus far has been a lot like the six o’clock news. Bla, bla, bla with no soul to it whatsoever if you know what I mean. To quote you as you eloquently put it “ An Eight year old me fell in love with the band.” I hadn’t discovered the treasure trove of Pearl Jam music myself until recently watching virtually every CZcams video uploaded and as I wasn’t so fortunate as yourself, living and growing up in America with access to concerts and albums. Living and growing up in Australia however there wasn’t ever much of a Pearl Jam presence . Radio stations picked up and played “Better Man and Even Flow” on high rotation and that was about it. As living and growing up in Australia was basically before the internet Pearl Jam songs like Black and Given to Fly were songs I’d never heard before until recently.
Our musical tastes do however change over the years, with myself having grown up here in Australia I fell in love with the music of Australian bands, one in particular called Midnight Oil. The Oils music was best listened to live and very loud. The Oils music would mostly appeal to a teenage audience who would follow the band to performance’s and concerts across the length and breadth of the country.
Point is I can fully appreciate your “true fandom” of Pearl Jam and of course like the Oil’s not always being everyone’s cuppa-kettle China plate. Yet I’ve now managed to discover this incredible tapestry of albums and music I previously never new existed before while I was off busy off doing other things. For me as a newbie fan of the Jam, an absolute treasure trove of unplayed and unheard music waiting to be heard.
Over the last few months while watching all these Pearl Jam videos on CZcams It’s started me wondering why on gods green earth nobody has ever put together the truly fascinating history of Pearl Jam and made a cool documentary or even movie. Then today I stumbled upon your iceberg after months of punching Pearl Jam into the CZcams search engine your Complete Pearl Jam Iceberg popped up. The members of Pearl Jam would definitely approve of your work as you’ve done well as a fan keeping it real ! Enjoyed every minute 🤙 of this brother. All the best. Oh, just one more thing Check out these two items on the net. One Eddie Vedders live performance of Split Ends “I See Red” and FalunDafa.org books Zhuan Falun pdf. Regards Syd Lee👍

This is such a great, great video and I enjoyed every second of it!!!
I understand that you couldn't talk about everything, it would have taken you 7 years instead of 1 to make this video...but here's couple of things that I would have added:
I saw a video explaining how Eddie went from the shy guy he used to be in the beginning to the confident front man that we love... literally overnight. They were playing a show and, I think it was during the song "Breath", Eddie was watching how some security guys were beating up some kids and you could see the transformation. Eddie became furious and you could read on his lips "that's fucked up".
The other thing, this is a personal favorite of mine... When you talked about how they sometimes end the song "Daughter" with "It's OK", I hoped that you would talk about the song found on "Live on two Legs" called "Untitled". They used the opening riff of the song "MFC" and turned it into a 2 minute song _"Got a car, I got some gas, oh let's get out of here, get outta here fast..."_ I just love it!

This is one of the finest pearl jam compilations ive ever seen, awesome job (also u did an incredible job with the climbs Eddie use to do, that was breathtaking) the little known almost tragedy in 2001 when after Eddie's (was it a boat or canoe idk what u'd call it) capsized n as Eddie n a few compatriots were trying to get back in a strong wind +the current blew them out of reach, the girl who somehow spotted them in the water n steered her boat over to where they were really did save their lives. Dont recall what year it was, but at a show (which um sure Eddie paid for everything to make sure they were there in a 4 star hotel) Eddie brought them out on stage, told the story n thanked them again in what I'm sure was an emotion packed moment. I loved all the bands that i heard come out of the birth place of grunge, even the lesser known Mudhoney, The Melvins,etc.. but for many years it was a battle in my head between Alice in Chains and Pearl Jam (well not really a battle, its just for someone who plays guitar, not very well but my ear has developed over the years n PJ as a band was a bit tighter than AIC, whereas.... i mean l love Eddie so much, hes like the best humanity has to offer, but when u said referring to Mad Season "the mighty Layne Staley" yeah that about says it all, its just so sad how we lost him long before he took his last breath, ok ill shut up now, awesome job brother and Stay Strong PEARL JAM ARMY....

I'm sure that this has been pointed out, but Eddie's the only one of the big four grunge singers that are still alive. And I'm pretty sure Scott Weiland was from San Diego too

I thought I knew everything there was to know about the band but I learned a lot from this video. Well done. However, can we stop pretending that the band’s name is anything but a reference to semen? Mother Love Bone produces Pearl Jam. But, like the meaning of Alive has changed over the years, I think the band’s name means something different now as well.

All those other bands you showed like Creed and other crap bands are NOTHING talent wise to PJ. Also, Andy Wood could NOT carry a tune, period. Horrific untimely death, but not able to sing. Soundgarden was the original grunge band. Cobain was a NARCISISST who feared other grunge bands would steal the spotlight he DID NOT deserve. Acted put off by attn, but seemed to do ANYTHING he could to draw attn to himself. Marrying publicity hound Courtney love and bashing much better bands like G n R, Tool, and PJ. Why you play all those clips loooking like Ed mumbles? Strange for someone who loves pj ...and Creed and Nickleback were nothing to PJ. Ed has baritone Vibratto. Not MUMBLE. ..
you manage to say you love them while insulting them. Eddie DID NOT bully Jeremy, or go to school w/him. He is doing a song about an incident he read an article about. Many kids who do this type of thing have been bullied. But just because a singer sings as if he was in the story DOES not mean he was IN IT. Music is poetry, art, imagination, and even acting in a sense. This is 🤡 stuff.

Just to clarify, I was joking when referencing bands like Creed (hence the over exaggerated coughing, hinting at the sarcasm), haha. Secondly, you might have misheard, but I stated that Ed took inspiration from the Jeremy Wade Delle incident, and added in his own similar experience with a kid who committed a similar thing at the school Ed himself went to. Those are two different stories, which inspired the words for the song Jeremy.
Finally, there's nothing wrong with some self deprecating humor on your favorite band and the clearly over-exaggerated caricature of early 90's Ed - just like die hard Metallica fans say stuff like Kirk Whammet, still in a loving way
I hope this cleared up some confusion!
