  • This video explains why your Brother MFC Printer or HL-L3230cdw printer is not recognising the Toner in the printer and displays a "No Toner" Message despite your cartridges being Full or Half Full. Applies to L3750cdw L3770cdw L3710cw L3745cdw L3510cdw L3230cdw L3270cdw L3210cw L3730CDN . Tips/Gratitude (Copy & Paste -Don't Click!) www.paypal.me/f...

    Thank you for this video and God bless. I had a non genuine toner that was not recognized and google directed me here. I removed the chip from another non genuine toner that my printer was recognizing and used it to fix the other one. Super. By the way my model is MFC - L3730CDN so if you want you can add it to your list in the description. Kind regards.

    Thank you, great video!
    1. At 0:45 you mention that on Brother printers without a full colour screen there's also a way to find out which of the four toners has a bad chip.
    I assume you mean by looking at the "Brother Status Monitor" (part of the "Brother Utilities", a software that came with your printer drivers), right? I think the Brother Status Monitor tells you which of the four colours the printer doesn't like.
    2. Would you advise people who use non-genuine toner cartridges to install new printer firmware updates, or rather not?
    I'm not sure... on the one hand firmware updates might fix important stuff maybe... on the other hand I guess that new firmware versions also bring a risk of disabling / locking out old non-genuine toner cartridge chips. (I've heard some other printer manufacturers sometimes do that with new firmwares, but I'm not sure if Brother also does this.)

    Thank you for this great tips. When changing the chip with one from another non-genuine cartridge, does it have to come from the same color one ?

    Hi Terry. Another great and helpful video. Thanks! Early in the vid you said you were going to advise how owners of the non colour LCD model (L3510cdw) could identify which toner was faulty because it's a bit more difficult, but then you never did... Or did i miss it? Thanks, D

    Clarification please re turning off power.
    Turning off at the wall I understand will kill all power to the printer. Does turning power off with the power button on top near the display panel also cause the chip battery to go flat? On a lot of modern appliances, the power switch just puts appliance into 'standby' mode and still draws a tiny current.

    Hi,
    I have a L8690CDW & just randomly it says magenta is empty (it was only been in like 2 weeks ago) so I’ve replaced it with another magenta & it continues to say it’s empty when I know it’s not.
    Could you please suggest something?

    I have ordered cartridges, but they do not have the same fitting for the chip as the brother chip, so could not do this. Can you please recommend where to get the compatible cartridges that match the brother chip fitting?

      Then you need an old printer, and an old printer technician to maintain it.. This is how they all work going forward.

      @@TerryJonesPrinterRepairs Well... I'm still using HP 6500W (14900 pages printed), HP already removed all drivers from it's page, scanning to computer is now a bit problematic, a few days ago paper feeder broke a gear (clasic on this printer) so i glued it back... It still work's, but i will soon need something else. Printing up to 150 pages per month. Honestly said this kind of "feature" when printer has a power button but is's not supposed to be turned off is realy strange for me.

    Brother is becoming like other printer companies screwing customers out of 3rd party toners! Don't upgrade firmware... stay on stock firmware. DRM sucks! There will form a new market to unflag the chip/change the serial number or hack the firmware...

  • @TNM001
    @TNM001 Před 11 měsíci

    hm..but the chips only allow 1 reset, isn't that right? thats what stopped me from getting this printer, huge toner waste.

    • @TerryJonesPrinterRepairs
      @TerryJonesPrinterRepairs  Před 11 měsíci

      It's not a HP Samsung or Epson printer. The chips work completely different to how they work. You can reuse the chip over and over and over if it is a genuine brother chip. You can reuse a non-genuine chip several times till it's battery fails. You have to make sure you keep the toner delivery on the Dev roller uniform otherwise the serial number on the chip gets flagged as bad. There is no toner waste when you know what your doing.

    • @TNM001
      @TNM001 Před 11 měsíci

      @@TerryJonesPrinterRepairs so, all the reports that the keycombo to reset the toner only works once...are fake?
      that would be a peasant surprise. but somehow i think all the reports of firmware 1.59 screwing this method up...are not some conspiracy.
      in any case...alot of trouble to go through to fight this error on a regular basis.

    • @TerryJonesPrinterRepairs
      @TerryJonesPrinterRepairs  Před 11 měsíci

      @@TNM001 There is no "RESETTING" to do on brother chips, They do not function like other printer manufacturers chips. They do not store cartridge toner/ ink levels the printer stores the cartridge chip serial number.
