It'd be cool to see then do a let's play of Scarlet and Violet since it has that multiplayer mechanic. They could have two from each game and if they want any from the other they could just trade. Idk, play through the game at their own wills and end episodes with double battles, it could be interesting to watch I feel.
There's also the 4 player raid battles too, I don't know anything else though.

I wouldn't say "popular", at least not outside the world off writing, but it is a term used in fiction and writing, which makes sense that he would know it sense he's studying art and film making.
I wouldn't really call these proper MacGuffins though. A core identifier of a MacGuffin is that it is an object everybody wants or needs, but doesn't actually do anything. You could swap it for anything else and the plot wouldn't really change, like in Pulpfiction for example. It's never revealed what actually in the case.
But the 3 items here have a clearly defined purpose: they're parts needed to sail a boat, something they need to do to progress the plot.
We know what they are and why they are necessary, which disqualifies them from being a proper MacGuffin.
