Although I disagreed with him on almost everything, he's bang on here. One thing I have noticed is that generally right-wingers have shown their respect for Tony Benn after his death, putting the politics aside and respecting him as a man of principle. Do the left generally do that when a right-winger dies? No. They often celebrate, they often say disgusting and disrespectful things. They cannot put the politics aside.
So terribly sad Mr Benn was not around to see us finally leave the European union.I really hope he is looking down smiling. They sad the anti-eu MP`s were crazy mad extremists a few years back but look who was really in touch with the public in the end!
Why can’t I find his speech about us joining the Eu? He spoke of the confidence of the British people, and gave examples of would Canada let America make its laws? CZcams is censoring anything anti Eu.
"You should remember one thing; England is ruled, not by the Queen or Parliament and not by the Queen in Parliament, England is ruled by the law of the very good Constitution left to us by our forefathers." Albert Burgess.
+Joe Schmo Tony Benn wasn't a Thatcherite. Quite the opposite. But he was part of a left-wing Euroskeptic tradition which suffered a blow from the late 1980s onwards but is now re-emerging.
+johnny b The irony is of course that Thatcher had the power to take us out of Europe but she never did. The Tories love the EU, that's why they took us in.
Who can disagree with a word he says here? He hits all the nails on the head.
It's worth reminding people of Tony Benn's stance on Europe.

Totally agree.
Rest in Peace Tony, you were so right on the matter. We miss you.
Although Tony Benn was a Socialist, I always thought he was a very bright and articulate man.
Brilliant.
Finally someone gets it about the EU.
I love Tony Benn.

i disagree with many of Tony Benn's policy's but by god was he a great parliamentarian. R.I.P
I don't share your politics but I love your channel - and this post shows you have class. Good show & RIP Tony Benn
Spot on!
Why can’t I find his speech about us joining the Eu? He spoke of the confidence of the British people, and gave examples of would Canada let America make its laws? CZcams is censoring anything anti Eu.
The only thing he ever said that made any sense...
"You should remember one thing; England is ruled, not by the Queen or Parliament and not by the Queen in Parliament, England is ruled by the law of the very good Constitution left to us by our forefathers."
Albert Burgess.
i wish Tony Benn had lived to see his old friend lead the labour party and us leaving the EU. He probably saw it coming anyway though.
who is the MP beside him please?
Austin Mitchell
At 2.10 i cant catch what he says. He says tidying up the "something" institution, does anyone know what he said? Thank you.
He said "I must say if tidying up involves tearing up the British Constitution, well that's an interesting definition of tidying up."
Austin Mitchell
The irony here is he’s agreeing with what Margaret Thatcher said.
The main reason that you like Tony Benn is because he helped to keep labour out of power!
Thatcherites like Tony Benn, what is this?
+Joe Schmo
Tony Benn wasn't a Thatcherite. Quite the opposite. But he was part of a left-wing Euroskeptic tradition which suffered a blow from the late 1980s onwards but is now re-emerging.
Oh, I know. I'm just surprised someone called "thatcheritescot" is a fan of Tony Benn.
+Joe Schmo
thatcheritescot probably only agrees with Tony Benn on the issue of the EU.
Yeah you're probably right.
+johnny b The irony is of course that Thatcher had the power to take us out of Europe but she never did. The Tories love the EU, that's why they took us in.
Utter hogwash
I do not like the crocodilian tears shed by the goverment as of Benn's death as well as the Opposition
Only cause the EU destroyed the mining industry
