Ok I'm not trying to make excuses and im still bad, but I decided to go back to comp.
Played five games and 3 out of that 5 there was a smurf.
One of them was "I miss her" another "SuicideAwareness" and then this other one called "she was mine".
Those three dropped about 40 to 30 frags and about 9 deaths on each game.

You learn by beating someone maybe 1 division or one rank above you but nothing against someone who is far higher than you.
If the case is csgo then yes you can learn even from high elo smurf. Because cs has replay demo and you can check the smurf's pov

Exactly when i was in iron I played against bronze and even silver friends and thats how i got to silver 2 and i now can outaim golds or even plats (my friends)
I get cases so much where people think I'm smurfing. I'm B3/S1 and I usually play in immo/ascendant lobbies. When I don't and play in lower elo people think I'm smurfing

There's a difference between an enemy who is having a good day and someone who doesn't leave you ONE SINGLE CHANCE to learn. Someone who is just playing good still makes mistakes once in a while. Smurfs just destroy you.
And sometimes theyre at the point where they ego peak and just out aim everything. Yea there are ways to counter it but it only works for so long and its not how you should play the game the whole time anyways

That's part of the reason why I left valorant. I worked really hard to learn from smurfs in my lobbies bcs dumb people said that don't complain about smurfs, learn from them so I did but couldn't get a single thing.
I'm focusing on my life, improving every single aspect of it, the money which I used to spend on skins, I'm now saving it for my future plans. I'm surprised that people are still playing this game.

Smurfing started in the late 90s technically on a starcraft server. The original “smurfs” changed their usernames to papa smurf and smurfette. Which is what created the slang term smurf for playing in a lower rank for fun

This is what we really need. As a Bronze, i'm always met this Smurfing player.
Usually use Jett or Reyna, and the KDA gap between their kill and other teammate just insane.
No, I have dealt with people on my team typing in all chat where spike is, mollying our team, and grabbing spike and not planting.
Eventually you learn. I've played against many many smurfs and it has improved me. 1 thing I learnt is "if you can't out-aim them, outsmart them".
Pick up on their patterns and punish them with a weird play, use a weird gun or use util to punish someone who repeats the same plays with flashes, sniper, bucky corner camping or even ares wallbang.
You may not get a positive k/d against them but it helps a lot to do something weird. As a current gold player who has played against immortal smurfs when I was in iron/bronze and got frags against them, I can guarrantee you that it broadens your horizon on techniques that you otherwise wouldn't even consider!
Outsmart them? They are much more experienced in game then we are and its like he is the only person playing in their team and there are 4 other of same skills as us.

I disagree, Valo is an fps shooter game, even the creator said the util are only means for you to leverage better position against your opponent to win an aim duel, all these nonsense about outsmarting the enemy only works to a point, once it became known it won't work anymore especially against high elo players who have incredible adaptation and aim, don't advocate for this kind of bully behaviour, they are mediocre at their own rank, they just look for ways to affirm that they are special by bullying noobs

I still remember my first game being the worst experience ever. Of course I start as a level 1 player on unrated, but the enemy team already had 200+ levels above me. That just means they have way too many games compared to a beginner like me. In the end, i got trashtalked by my team and the enemy team (the issue here is also the matchmaking)
Unrated is a different thing
Smurfing doesn't exist there, that's a free for all. Unrated is meant to be the laid back good for nothing mode. So yes, iron and radiant are in the same player pool there

Imagine all those games has players that are at higher ranks destroying a new player every game. At level 1-20, I think it's only fair to match up against players also at level 1-20 and also players at the same mmr.

I hate when people say you'll learn. The smurfs are purely playing for frags and kills, you can only learn about aiming and frags, it doesn't teach you anything else.
Agreed. It’s impossible to get out of the lower ranks. It’s arguably easier to be a Diamond/Ascendant than a Silver because there are less smurfs in the higher ranks.
The silver -> plat grind is impossible for anyone who isnt already good at the game. If you start winning, valorant forces smurfs to top frag the enemy team and fill you with 4 kids who lost 10 games straight and ready to FF round 2🤣

i went from iron to diamond no smurfing and didnt have any issue. i played 1 game a day and climbed because i focused on getting better instead of complaining. if youre hardstuck then youre hardstuck because youre bad, not because of a smurf.

smurfs are a real problem in iron/bronze/silver.. we constantly face players dropping like 30+ kills with almost 0 deaths when playing with my friends, we are all in the high iron to low silver range. last game i played with my friend we duo queued comp, i was bronze 2 and my friend was iron 3. two players (jett and reyna) in the enemy team both dropped like 20 to 30 kills with 1 or 2 deaths in like 10 rounds (we surrendered) i asked if it was fun to ruin other peoples games by smurfing in low elo, they just told me to kill myself and delete the game because apparently im so bad that i should not have a pc to play valorant (i was at like 10 to 15 kills at that moment cant remember how much exactly but yea) i dont know why they do this, i guess its fun to ruin other peoples games. they also said that we learn better by playing against players who are better than us, well yeah sure i would learn something if i was playing against golds but not when im playing against immortals. bruh. also riot doesnt even care anymore, we have always reported the smurfs and not a single one of them has been banned or punished in any way in this little over one year journey of playing valorant.
I visited Korea and tried to make a Valorant account there to play. They made me provide a proof of residency and shit that gets verified. So you literally need a new identity to get an alt.

Here’s a story, once upon a time, I was bronze 3. I was filled with joy going into my next match, which was my rank up match. The match ended 1-13, the reyna on the other team aced 4 times. And has around 40-50 kills. Ever since then I’ve been bronze my whole life

One of the nicest feelings at a bronze 1 is being called a smurf it makes me feel so good I think my best match Was like 37 frags
I just feel bad for Smurfs tbh. Imagine being so horribly insecure that you have to go and basically kick toddlers in the face to feel better about yourself. It’s like Superman going to a boxing match and just punching someone’s head off.
I'm hard stuck because:
1. Someone goes afk but it's after remake time runs out
2. Doesn't play with the team, goes mid and dies or just isn't on site to defend spike
3. Actually iron player, no game sense
4. Takes my agent just to not know how to play them
5. When spike is planted pushes out or keep peaking even tho we have site control which leaves me in a 1v5
Let's create a ticket and force them to improve their smurf detection system
You can set the bar appropriately, to make sure there are no false positives and ban on that account means "burned" motherboard
The devs have actually validated smurfing in valorant. If you watch the dev diaries they said in one of them that they are removing restrictions for smurfs but at the same time making match placements and mmr improvements to help push players to their designated ranks easier. I think the problem we all are facing is the rank reset and the system failing to recognise player ranks.
This happens every first act of an episode and will pass as players push their ranks. I think valorant has a much efficient system to stop mismatches than other multiplayers like apex.
As for buying and selling accounts, that’s something to be acknowledged by the community and systems should be put in place as to isolate accounts to their regions. I think that’s all that can be done

Buying a smurf on valorant is litterally the stupidest thing : All you need 15 wins to ranked if I remember well. In league it takes around a week of Coop VS IA or a month of Normal games so I can UNDERSTAND why some people buy accounts.
the MMR system does help a little bit but its still insignificant because it typically kicks in way to late and a lot of people lose their games because of it
There should be Phone Verification only for Competitive. There are way more people who are negatively affected by Smurfs right now, than there are in comparison to the amount of outliers who would be negatively affected by not having a proper phone plan. Also, it’s meant to be a DETERRENT, not a complete fix, before people make a “this wont stop them” argument.
Working around phone verification is extremely easy in my country. I have seven accounts that I play for ranked (all of which are at or very near my level), and I just switch between them. There are several people like myself, not to mention pros and streamers as well. Its just nice to mental reset when swapping to another account. That being said, phone verification will hurt their bottom line too much too. Not that it hurts me because I can just get a bunch of cheap ass burner numbers to verify if it ever happens.

You do need to play against different levels of player to improve. Better players show you what mistakes you are making that can be exploited, but bad players also show you the same thing from a different perspective. (and playing against same level players helps you learn what decisions you make impact your winrate)
But if someone is significantly better than you, yeah, you will learn absolutely nothing, it'll happen too fast.

If he tries in all his placement games he should be put close to his real rank so he’s not just crapping on kids in silver and bronze, nonetheless it’s not perfect as he has to do those placements in low rank lobbies and for the diamonds-ascendants they constantly get the short end of the stick playing against radiants all the time

As someone who’s EXTREMELY inconsistent in games, ranging from 32 to 7-6 kills per competitive game the I really have doubts on the matchup system in my humble opinion.

I actually emailed them about this issue 3 days ago, I suggested you must use the new phone verification for playing ranked and to make it so you can't use the same phone number on multiple accounts in a small period of time, because I'm in gold and every second game atleast if not more, I get smurfed on and it's so obsurd now
I was gold last episode, placed bronze 3 this episode. only just started placing since placements. Feels like im not getting into gold again. I solo qued to gold 2 epidodes in a row. Now bronze is just way harder than it used to be.

there should be a sistem that if you lose too many times the game will make you redo the 25 wins on normal to be able to play ranked again so like this afk bots will be much of a pain to make it work since you can't just let the bot lose too much or you will get the bot out of ranked games, also this can make trolls, throwers and leavers to not do that if they do they will get out of the ranked sistem
the accounts are free. they probably automate making new accounts
Yesterday i was about to promote to next elo but a smurf team absolutely destroyed us and it felt like we had nothing to do at all. Most of our teammates lost hope. I was trying to make us use a strategy but I couldn't think of anything and they would destroy us anyway

I was a poor little bronze who had horrible wifi, horrible aim, and horrible stats.
one day, I happened to queue into a game where this bronze? player had a smurfing immortal, we got decimated every time we peeked, but I slowly began to learn how to outsmart them, (sage.) I started using my wall & slows to distract them from where my actually location was, it worked a few times but we ultimately lost. since then, I've gotten better and play higher up now, I've met many immo's, and ascendant... but for now, I'm at gold. YOU CAN DO IT WITH HARD WORK PEOPLE

It’s gotten so common that it’s like 1 in 3 games for me. (Gold/Plat lobbies) It is quite literally the reason I stopped giving a damn about the game. It’s been a joke among my five stack. “Which Reyna/Jett/Neon is boosting their friends?”
i'm not good at valorant, but i used to be top 500 in overwatch and other top players would repeat the same thing about smurfs. i'm sure this problem is even worse in valorant but you aren't learning anything playing against someone that has 100x better mechanics than you, they're not going to be playing like a high elo player they're going to be pushing every single angle like a silver but they can still get away with it bcoz of the mechanics diff

I’m actually really annoyed by curry, yes he is an amazing player and none can take that way from home, but he flunked out of pro teams because he was toxic, and on top of that blatantly smurfs of the excuse that he is smurfing in radiant which is literally not possible, other have hit rank 1, he needs to sit down and pick another content creation style

I've already gone up to bronze and down to iron more than 3 times, all because every time I get off the iron, there's a team of smurfs in the next match and I'm just going down non-stop, I hate that
The afk bots are the real problem. Smurfing is yucky, but even when I was iron I believed no one was good enough to beat me, and now that I play against ascendant and immo regularly the same holds true. You can learn alot by playing against monster aimers. To win you have to evolve. Develop a new strategy, use your utility differently, buy different guns. Aim is one of the least important factors in this game, when I first hit diamond 3 my HS % was 8% some games I would drop 20 kills with 0% HS. No more excuses. Most players don't learn anything bc they don't pay enough attention. Be the player the smurfs fear. And always remember this "The higher the rank, the harder the spank."
I like the people who use different account ranked like immortal peak so they can rank decently high like acendant in the beginning so they aren’t smurfing and then use a challenge to make it fair
True. There are SO MANY valorant "creators" that say that they haven't been playing on ranked no more and "only" plays with their "subs" in "classic"

I know its an old video but smurf detection is indeed working.
There is the real elo/rank and also hidden elo / rank.
For example if I play on my gold smurf I still get matched in a diamond lobby, if I play on my diamnond account I still get thrown into immo/high asc games.
There was a clove with the name "i miss her" and she or he got 46/3 on silver lobbies, we got absolutely cooked and i lost my rankup game
I love going against smurfs since it teaches me a lot and makes me better. Crying and complaining doesn’t help so just try your best
The problem with current smurf detection is people who are genuinely good when starting, like ex CS player or just a CS player in general also gets put into the smurf lobbies.
I feel like the ability use can be tied to smurfing as low elo ability usage is quite weird etc
Rank system is so dumb, I constantly get 23+ kills in a game, try contributing to everyone in my team giving comms, entering to site first and leaving space for everyone to enter yet no comms, both teams accuse me of smurfing and my team does like, 5 kills in the whole game each

i went form s1 to plat 1 this act and trust me what was holding me back was the amount of afks i get in my team and ppl that doesnt care about rank i get atleast 6 afks every 10 games
Its a little ridiculous that smurfing isnt encouraged by riot but plenty of HUGE creators under big name orgs are doing it literally every update and NO ONE at riot says anything to them

I recently had a game where my opponents were 4 irons boosting an ascendant which sucked playing against.
I have seen one guy idek who anymore it’s been so long but he would do those racing to immortal vidoes but he would just use one of his 2 accounts and would only play against people at his skill level no matter the rank. This made it actually fun to watch and challenging in lower ranks since he was always playing diamonds and above

I was in iron and use to 1v1 my old radiant friend. It started off as not being able to get frags to having a 60-70% chance of getting frags… So while you can learn from somebody way higher rank than you, it’s bloody difficult. 😭
One of the cringiest things a Smurf would say is “I Smurf your peak”. They’re always so proud and egotistical about their rank.
yep i'm hard stuck iron 3 because i either fight smurf's or full bronze lobbies of people who have been playing in those lobbies for months and adapted and i can't adapt
I agree that smurfs are a problem and the only type of smurfing i agree with is making a new account from scratch to play a new agent. There isnt a good way to get all of the necessary gamesense for a new agent by only playing in high immortal/radiant lobbies you just end up throwing the games. By making a new account BY YOURSELF you get placed much higher (plat/diamond area) which is at the point where aim alone can carry you in val and you work your way through plat, diamond, and ascendant to learn how to properly play the agent. Unrated is useless for this and 99% of people dont have enough same elo connections to make an effective scrim lobby.
There is a very easy way to fix smurfing, just require a phone number. They already do it in premiere, and wouldnt be too difficult to implement. They could make it required to play apart from custom games and practice. This would make so that if a smurf is punished on one account, they could punish all of his accounts. This would also help deal with bots, since the accounts with that phone number would be caught. And since riot allows, and even recommends having multiple accounts, this could allow them to work on battlepasses across them all, and share skins.
I don’t see smurfing as a big problem, I’ve seen few smurfs, and I don’t see that games aren’t enjoyable because of them.
Attacking in platinum elo with most teams isn’t enjoyable, for example. Players don’t make use of numbers advantage, don’t use utility, wait until the site is full of enemies to enter suicide, don’t refrag…
Out of 10 matches, 8 matches have an inm smurf at least. It is an issue for new players and people that are not as good.
Yeah I don’t learn anything when the enemy Jett runs it down mid and kills 4 people holding good crossfires and peaking well just because the Jett can flick headshot every single person
