Your experience represents the new updated facilities in LAX. When you say you don't understand the complaints it is for that reason. Prior to its completion LAX was an airport to be avoided no matter what it took, it was horrendous. But you are right the new setup makes a massive difference.
Really nice trip report again! I like the way you recorded :) LIKE for your video!
What a comfortable flight... The meals also looked very good but above all nothing heavy... now you have to try Australia to London!!
Would love to fly this product on the PER-LHR route! But my next trip to London will be in economy :( but onboard the Qantas a380 via Singapore!
Thanks for this review, I’m on this flight in BC early next , good to see what I can expect.
Thank you for watching!
Fantastic review Tom!
Thank you!
we are doing this journey in October so thanks for the review.
Thanks for watching!
Nice Qantas B787 ,,,i like it
Thank's sir tom,,,
Brilllliant review Tom, thank you
Thanks for watching Michael!
Your welcome
Thanks for the great flight review. Keep up the great work. Cheers from Lisa
Lisa Hall thank you Lisa! Such a nice comment 😊😊
Great video! It is always tough to “Turn Right” (economy) after you experienced turning left.
In 2015 I flew Virgin Australia LAX-SYD economy, somehow I managed to get 7 hours sleep that flight.... probably drained and after spending 2 weeks on a Contiki tour helped haha! Excellent video Tom! thanks.
Welcome back Tom and you have done a great job with the Flying Kangaroo...the hard part about flying in Business class is you want to ONLY fly Business Class in the future!! Qantas do have a great Business Class product and the newer seats are fantastic!! Well done mate and I look forward to your next adventure ( hopefully in Business Class!!)
Cheers Craig - thanks for staying with me! And yes, it was so hard to go back to economy 😭
Qantas is 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯❤️❤️❤️❤️
I often have issues with the seat controls on the 330s. IFE good but not as good as their competitors. They moved me 4 times on one occasion for a working IFE 😂. I find the crews are always very hospitable, particularly the jetconnect crews.
Great review and very happy for you to fly long haul business class. One day I may be able to afford business class as well. LOL
Save your frequent flyer points! That’s how I do all of this !
Thanks for watching
I flew the Virgin Australia product ex Bne to LAX and returned to Sydney on Delta in June 2019. Must say that the new Delta pods beat both QF and VA with their sliding doors for privacy. The Virgin food was average(Starting to reflect cost control!) Delta food was great and portions were very reasonable. The Qantas menu is due for review and rejuvenation.
Would love to try Delta One as well! Thanks for watching
The problem with connecting from the qantas services from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane is they all arrive within 30 minutes of each other at 6am. When they arrive of your going onto New York on Qantas you have 1 hour and 30 minute layover. Most of that time is spent in customs and it’s hell! This is my experience but if yours is different let me know!
Also I subscribed!
Thanks for subscribing! Enjoy
12k!!!!
Thanks for the great trip report. After watching ur video I think I will keep Qantas in my to-try-list. Hopefully the sky is free and open for flying soon. Great footages and every scene is clearly described. :) and I wonder, do you use only iPhone for filming the entire trip report?
I hope so too! I'm itching to get back in to the air again. And I use a combination of my iPhone and my GoPro - it's amazing the video quality you get from these little devices these days!
The transfer from Terminal 4 to Bradly isnt hard but its quite some distance. Not a few mins walk as is implied here.
FYI - there is a shuttle from domestic to Tom Bradley Int’l so you don’t have to go thru security again! Hope we are all traveling again soon.. I hear that Virgin is reduced to n,y Domestic AU flights... 😢
sad the 787 dosent do the brisbane- los angeles routes anymore
Can I ask how much the seat was in Aud?? Good vid
Hey Thomas! Thanks for watching :) I used points to upgrade from Premium Economy to Business Class for this flight!
Ref connecting in LAX - it depends entirely on what you are connecting from and to. A domestic to international is easy, particularly AA to oneworld, as your bags will be through-checked. And the new walkway connecting the AA terminal to TBIT makes it easy - it was more complex before this was built. Conversely, connecting International to International is an absolute nightmare, as you have to land yourself, clear immigration, clear customs and find your way back up to departures, with your bags. When I did it, there was no signage to departures from the arrival hall, and it was very unclear. The process is slow, and very unfriendly. This is all because the US does not permit airside transfers international to international, unlike other countries.
its now operated by an A330
Yep. It’s very disappointing that a downgrade of aircraft on this route has persisted for so long!
@@ThomasMackay But we also have United and soon Delta servicing the route with 787s and A350s, so hopefully that might encourage Qantas to upgrade it. Qantas are suffering from aircraft shortages, but I remember before the 787 the route was operated by the 747. Qantas has a tone of new A350s on order for project sunrise and another batch of 787s to replace A330s. We also have United flying to San Francisco and will soon have American flying from Dallas, so there are plenty of other transpacific options.
Do you pay for the bar request of spirits?
No, it’s all complementary/inclusive!
Do you get to keep the pyjamas?
You sure do!
@@ThomasMackay You have flown Premium Economy to US, haven't you? Do you get pyjamas in that class too? Or just in Business? I have my first US flight for 6 years in 129 days. Then I have a second one in late November. Both times I am flying Sydney -LAX, but returning DFW-Sydney. In between, I will be in Orlando at the theme parks. I am requesting an upgrade to Business for the return flights. I have a 5.5-6hr drive home once I get back to Sydney.
Great videos, since you have flown this route in business and premium economy is the extra expense ($1000) for business worth it?
If you’re tall, and sleep and comfort is your priority, then I would absolutely recommend. (And if you can afford it of course! Haha)
@@ThomasMackay thanks
Connecting in lax is unbearable if you are flying into lax from most international airports, you even need to clear customs collect bags and check them in again if you are going on another international flight!! Which also means getting either an ESTA or a visa!!!
That's a fair point, and I must admit it was more involved on the way from BNE->LAX->DFW than it was for the return. I also think that transferring with American Airlines is definitely much easier as well, because there are airside corridors.
@@ThomasMackay yeah and clearing customs can take forever, since nearly every foreigner has to clear customs manually :(
