    Very good review. What is the best lens for mft in this focal distance based on your experience?

    I think the BMPCC4k is a 1.9x crop (basically 2x) not 3x FYI

    • @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons
      @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons  Před 4 lety +2

      the BMPCC4K didn't exist when this video was published. It came out in 2017 and the video was published in 2015. I refer to the original pocket camera that came out in 2014.

    Great review. I came here because I am looking for the best Wide Angle lens for my GH5. I might go for the Panasonic 7-14mm f4.

    What kind of Voigtlander lens i have to choose for shooting video in restaurants and hotels in low light 17.5mm f/0.95 Nokton or 10.5mm f/0.95 Nokton I use Panaconic G6

  • @FantasyCouch
    @FantasyCouch Před 4 lety

    I do simple youtube videos on a tripod with my GH4 and am debating on getting the 12mm Leica or the Voigtlander Nokton 10.5mm lens. Which one should I get??? I have the Voigtlander 17.5 and absolutely love it but I need something just a tad wider since the camera is so close to my face.

  • @MelodeusForever

    they should come up with a way for your camera to name the picture before you output it. For example, naming it in code like F095X3FT10.5MM so each time you take a picture the name shows up and that could give you a reference but for each picture you take, stopping to name it can be timely. But if you can set up a folder hierarchy where you can save each shot could help you remember. Or you can simply create a task list and set up a range like 10 mins first 15 shots one setting, then next 10 minutes another setting and so forth. Tedious but would be simple if Panasonic comes up with a way for you to easily set up a folder structure with quick naming options. Maybe setting up a menu setting where after each shot, a menu pops up asking what the settings are and which folder you want to save it in and you can name the folders... then it can save to the file. Of course features like time and date are settings in the background, so more than likely they can set up some menu for this characteristic. But I'm curious of what you guys think. Maybe the idea is dumb.... lol.

  • @tonylouisvisionvideography3469

    The problem with this lens is sharpness at maximum aperture. But it does have nice other nice qualities

  • @OberonCooks
    @OberonCooks Před 5 lety

    Hey man, great vid. Thanks a lot.
    I’m pretty sure you’re mistaken on the BmPocket crop factor, since it’s an MFT mount making it x2 compared to 35mm.
    Cheers bro!

    • @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons
      @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons  Před 5 lety

      The crop factor is determined by the sensor size, not the mount. In the case of the pocket camera (the original one mentioned in this video), the sensor is smaller than m4/3 so the crop factor is more severe.

    • @OberonCooks
      @OberonCooks Před 5 lety

      Mathieu Gasquet the difference is the aspect ratio, having 1 adicional mm on the long side and 3 less on the short side. Still a four thirds sensor size.

    • @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons
      @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons  Před 5 lety +1

      The BM pocket camera (first version) has a 12.5 x 7mm sensor. The average micro four thirds camera (Olympus, Panasonic etc) has a 17.3 x 13mm sensor. The BM pocket camera sensor is smaller, therefor the crop factor is more important than your average m4/3 camera, meaning higher than 2x. Plus if the aspect ratio is different, the BM pocket sensor can't be 4/3. Indeed, it has a 16:9 aspect ratio which makes perfectly sense since the blackmagic camera is designed for video only.

      @@MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons This rewiew is about almost 4 years old and I think many compares automatically nowadays to BMCCP 4K , crop factor about 1.9x to fullframe sensor and there's the confusion :)
      "Blackmagic Pocket Camera 4K Sensor. The sensor is a four thirds sensor, which measures at 18.96mm x 10mm. This sensor size is a slightly different aspect ratio compared to the GH5 sensor which is Micro 4/3 Sensor, measuring at 17.3mm x 13.0mm."
      Thx for nice review anyway about this lense. I'm just starting my career and totally noob anyway, but going to get bmcck 4k on my first camera and looking differnt lense options(that's why stumbled in this review anyway :)

    • @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons
      @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons  Před 8 lety

      +Mark Robinson I am not sure if panasonic cameras have an audio memo option, the GX8 doesn't for example. But you can always record a brief video for a few seconds. It's the same thing in the end and the video file is saved in the same folder next to the last picture you took.

    You mentioned LUMIX lenses are sharper, but are they as fast or as wide?

    • @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons
      @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons  Před 8 lety

      +noreaction Lumix has a wider zoom lens but not a prime lens. The faster lens they have is a f/1.2 (42.5mm Nocticron).

    • @burkerow
      @burkerow Před 8 lety

      I think what he meant was "fastest" not "faster". The problem is that it's 42.5mm not 10.5. That's a huge difference.

    • @jay4627
      @jay4627 Před 5 lety +1

      Huge difference in lenses you are looking at. Panasonic Leica 12mm f/1.4 is a very good compromise between those two, and gets my vote for a wide and fast lens. If you need even wider the laowa 7.5mm f/2 is also very good and much cheaper

    What's the full frame equivalent of f0.95 on a GH5?

    • @joeltunnah
      @joeltunnah Před 4 lety

      f/1.9

    • @uhadonejob
      @uhadonejob Před 5 měsíci

      f0.95. The amount of light entering and hitting each pixel is the same. There is a more depth of field than ff but the relative brightness is the same. People get confused because there is less sensor area to illuminate.

  • @Rastinfilm
    @Rastinfilm Před 7 lety

    when you use 4/3 lense on such body, would the crop factor effect the focal length? in other words, what this 10mm lense would show comparing 10mm on FF? thank you

    • @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons
      @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons  Před 7 lety

      With micro 4/3 the crop factor is 2x. So this 10.5mm lens has the same field of view of a 21mm for full frame sensors.

    • @Rastinfilm
      @Rastinfilm Před 7 lety

      Mathieu Gasquet thanks a lot. so what would be the widest (field of view) solution that you can achieve with this body? this lens plus speed booster maybe? or some other setup?

    • @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons
      @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons  Před 7 lety

      the widest native lenses you can find are the Panasonic 7-14mm f4, the Olympus 7-14mm f2.8 or the new Pana-Leica 8-18mm 2.8-4

    • @Rastinfilm
      @Rastinfilm Před 7 lety

      Mathieu Gasquet hmm. but all these are fisheyes i guess, so distortion would be extreme on tge 7mm end... that is the biggest issue comparing to FF bodies i guess..

    • @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons
      @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons  Před 7 lety

      They aren't fisheyes but rectilinear lenses. You can see our review of the Oly 7-14mm here:
