I wonder what it would cost roughly to get this done on two 50-inch wide polyester panels.
If you already have a sewing machine, all it will cost you is your time and a spool of thread. 🙂
When you measure 2 inches up from the bottom of the curtain I don't understand why you cut it. Will it be too short?
Hi Madelyn, there was a lot of excess fabric to cut away to make a hem for the curtains. I think they were about 40 to 50 cms too long. I pinned up the fabric until it hung at the right length on the floor then measured 2 inches up from the fold (on the excess fabric). I cut away the excess fabric leaving 2 inches for the hem. Hi there, I wasn't clear from your blog why you said not to have curtains finish just above or below the window sill? I have a lounge window with a radiator below and currently the previous owner's full length curtains are blocking the rad; or I have to leave them open and feel the cold/heat loss from the window; or I have to scrunch the curtains up to fit them kind of behind the radiator. Not sure what you would suggest here. There is already a roller blind but it isn't doing much warmth wise.
Just to add - I did find this video really helpful though, and plan to hem my curtains once I work out which off the shelf ones to buy!
