Damn I needed a good laugh. I’m in automotive locksmith and what you’re charging is ridiculous you don’t need to do all that to program a Volvo key. And I don’t know any dealer that charge of $1600!! Are you just making this stuff up and then you guys take someone’s module for over 24 hour period of time and then for $800 put a key on there and send it back??? That’s loco!
There are a ton of places that will do it for $250-350. My nearest Volvo dealer quoted $1300, and claimed that the CEM needed to be replaced, which is not true, and a company was able to come to my house, cut 2 keys, and program them for about $450. Not cheap, but fast.
so, i'm trying to help my nephew out who thinks his 3 yo threw the key to his 2008 volvo c30 away! i am glad to read your comment and know that locksmiths can do this! he did get locksmith quote for 575 in corpus christi, which still seems high!

Volvo shop in San Francisco can not program my key. my car is in their yard for 2 weeks now. their best excuse is "the vehicle is sleeping" i'm assuming that they are referring to the module or computer of the car. can you help me? my Volvo is 2002 S60. i would appreciate your response. a referral to a key maker would be great too. thanks!
