@@GB.512eBay all the way, but you have to know what to look for. I look for 1. Well lit pictures from many angles. 2. Do they show pictures of damage areas? 3. Look at the sellers other cards and how they rate condition. Gives you a gauge for what they think things are. 4. What kind of description did they use? Is it generic (I hate these) or did someone take the time to genuinely describe the item? 5. Look at negative reviews if not 100%. 6. Find good sellers, save them, and continue buying from them. You'll have more trust in the quality when it's someone you buy from often. 7. Message sellers and ask if they have similar cards that they don't have listed. Great deals that way... Literally no idea why I'm sharing the golden secret of eBay, but you're welcome! ☺️👍✌️
I was born in 1990 uk 🇬🇧 & being 9 years old when Pokémon base set came out it took over my life 😂 my mum worked at a Salisbury’s (superstore) and after a night shift she left 2 on card base set packs on our dining room table for myself & my brother to find in the morning, I opened mine and pulled the charizard. I will never forget that feeling. So charizard for me always 👍

Nidoking is very underrated in my opinion, never understood why he wasn't talked about more. I have the complete sets of Base set, Jungle, Fossil, Base set 2 and Rocket all in one huge binder. The cards are all between excellent to mint.

The reason for Hitmonchan being the cheapest was because
1) It was available right away within the Blackout Theme Deck.
2) Among all of the Base set holos, it saw the most play in the tournament scene within Haymaker decks.
Because of this, everyone who played the TCG wanted to run Hitmonchan in their decks. So finding Hitmonchan wasn't difficult to find. In fact, because of the amount of Hitmonchan out there, it's actually more common than Machamp was. In fact, Hitmonchan was the most used of the holos in the entire Base Set. Blastoise, Chansey, and Alakazam were distant seconds.
As for Mewtwo's price...it's cause Base Set Mewtwo was absolutely useless in practical play. Plus, like Hitmonchan, it was in a Theme Deck (Zap!). The Movie Promo Mewtwo saw more usage and was more sought after.

I've just about completed base set within the last few months, I was gifted a shadowless venusaur and started from there. Now all I am missing is Zard and Blasty
Black Lotus is the top TCG card IMO. Never even once have I HELD a Lotus, let alone own one. I own 7 Base Zards, including a NM Shadowless one.

My pokemon card collection was stolen in highschool. I had about 1/3 1/2 of all the pokemon including the holographic starters. I decided to see what it would take to get it back and apparently it's possible 😭 thank goodness Charizard isn't like 10k

I still like buying a case of a new set. Open 2-3 to complete majority of the set and hold the other 3-4 booster boxes sealed for resell in like 10-15 years. I have a good amount of base set near mint and I'm planning on buying singles to finish it sometime next year.
I've never even heard of the black lotus and I've been into tcgs on and off since the 2000s, most people that aren't into tcgs still know blue eyes white dragon

If you are buying PSA I would never go below a 9. You almost always grab a 9 for the price of NM Raw. I only go lower if it’s a very expensive grail card for the PC

I completed base set unlimited. Then moved on and completed base set shadowless. Now im working on conpleting 1st edition base set.i started collecting again before the boom that came with the pandemic and the card that got me collecting again was the hyper rare chaizard reshiram gx.

Id say overall Charizard is more sought after over Black lotus since I would assume more people are into collecting pokemon rather than MTG, even though I love both games, I play YGO as well, and I think Blue-Eyes White Dragon is for sure iconic for the game, as well as Dark Magician.
MTG sells more cards annually than Pokémon TCG believe it or not

I've been wanting to buy a master set of base/jungle/fossil. I saw some ebay auctions and one was going for about 2000$ wasn't sure if it was good or not. I also saw a Japanese set that included the 3 + rocket set going for 2500$

so since i play all 3 i would probably say black lotus, Charizard and blue eyes. Base set blue eyes is in the realm of these iconic cards. black lotus prices are in the thousands making it one of the most valued cards in all of card gaming.

Of course I found out when I was dead broke too…sucked so bad lol.
