If you watch Judge Funmi often you will agree that she does not joke with DV. I guess the excerpt of this episode aired on youtube focused on debt recovery since that is the main reason the lady sued.

I am in a better place now where am pampered and literally worshipped. I couldn't believe that i was that gullible n naive in 2014 which he took advantage of.. After watching this video, I finally realized that there are only two reasons why this tantalizing, exhilarating, gladdening and razzle- dazzling video would enhance different assertions.
One is the collective use of colloquial abstract representation of normative assertions owing to the distinction in regulatory and derogatory affirmative relations to binary patterns.
The second is that even I don't know what I said above and I've just wasted 20 seconds of your time.

Domestic abuse should be taking very serious in Nigeria to protect women. The Judge didn't say anything about it, or did I miss the part? Is it a norm over there? The guy should be thrown to jail, and also how can we tell if the lady will receive her money? I'm not happy about the judgement and the approach, not a good representation of Nigeria justice system in a serious case like this one. The lady is emotionally distress, where is the support for her? The outcome is very disappointing.

This kind of girl needs spiritual prayers and not moral advice. To go through all of these things and still say that she is deeply in love with the guy is so annoying to hear. @@boladalejoseph3236 No, that is not true. Assault is a crime and it's not based on the marital situation of those involved.
The case brought before the court was indebtedness and the relief she sought is for the defendant to pay his debt and contribute to her monthly medical bills because he was the cause of the injury. If she had died him for domestic violence or assault, the judge would have ruled on that.
Don't be surprised. The plaintiff did not due the defendant for domestic violence/assault and a judge will not make rulings on reliefs not sought.
The lady wanted the defendant to pay his debt to her and also be responsible for the payment of her monthly medical bills because he was the one who inflicted the injury on her and she supported her claims with a photo of her injury.
If she had sued him for assault, the case will not be treated as a civil case but a criminal case and sent to the appropriate court. I believe this court deals with civil cases.
If it is to be treated as a criminal case, the lady will not be the one charging the matter to court; the police will be involved. They will investigate the matter, get hospital report, interrogate the accused person, and after gathering enough evidence to prove assault was committed, they will charge the matter to court. The case will now be the state versus the plaintiff.
If she wanted to sue him for assault, I believe she would have been counselled on the steps to take.
This judgement is based on the reliefs sought by the plaintiff; she wants her money back and payment of her medical bills. So , the judgement shouldn't surprise you or anyone else
