  • Buddha’s recognition of women’s spiritual potential, the history of Buddhism has not been free from sexism and patriarchy. Women in Buddhist societies have often faced discrimination and oppression, both in the monastic and lay communities. For example, the rules of discipline for nuns, known as the Vinaya, include eight special rules that subordinate them to monks, regardless of seniority or attainment. Some scholars argue that these rules were added later by male editors, and do not reflect the Buddha’s original intention.

This is incorrect Tibetan Buddhism has now the same Geshe programs for woman as men and get exactly the same ordination as men , there is already a lot of woman geshes and high nuns like Pema Chodron and Tenzin Palmo, Tibetan Buddhism respects and practice the feminine Divine as there is female Buddha's like Tara and 21 emanations of her also Varjayogine , Parjaparnamita , Magig Lobdron and many other female Buddha's, also great Buddhist teachers of the past like Yeshe Tsoygal consort of Guru Rinpoche, so please get your facts straight before posting a video like this.
