    I strongly recommend checking out the Kumho’s V730 tire. Great price and amazing track ability! Made it easy to feel the suspension and limit of traction

Kudo’s to your FC build, even though we can hear the cutting out from the tune, the idea that you can go out and wail on it like that and not have it grenade is a testament to your ability as a builder. Time for bigger brakes, and some fine tuning, and that 1:31 will turn into a 1:29 or better. Congratulations, Rob! Well done!

  • @TurboHappyCar
    @TurboHappyCar Před 2 lety +54

    Love the FC content! Rob, sorry if I missed it, but have you done the DTSS eliminator bushings (rear steer) for the rear suspension? The FC's have one floppy bushing that allows the rears to change toe angle based on dynamic loads. It was a cool feature when the car was new, but those bushings have turned to crap over the years. Replacing them with solid bushings makes the rear less prone to snapping out.

    • @HuhnK0t
      @HuhnK0t Před 2 lety +4

      was done on the NA aswell back in the day, from my experience with swapping them out to PU ones i can only recommend to put in softer pu bushings in the spot where the softer original bushings were, the suspension is built for that and i can assure you it's way better than going all solid. this way the car keeps its natural feel but on steroids!

    • @TurboHappyCar
      @TurboHappyCar Před 2 lety

      @@HuhnK0t Are you referring to the NA Miata? From what I can tell only the FC had the DTSS "Dynamic Tracking Suspension System", as a band aid for the cost-and-space-saving (janky) semi-trailing arm rear suspension. The NA has double wishbones front and rear which doesn't have the same bad habits (bump steer) as the semi-trailing arm. For the FC, 33 years later those bushings are pretty floppy and unpredictable. My first car was a 1987 non-turbo FC and I autocrossed it a couple of times. I made the mistake of pressing the brake pedal while turning and immediately spun. (I still have an aversion to trail braking 😂) I got and installed the DTSS but didn't autocross the car after that, so I can't tell ya from first hand exp if it worked. But it's it/was a pretty well known issue on rx7club.

    you need proper race bucket seats in there, and 5-point harness. It makes a huge difference. You were flopping around pretty bad in there.

    Just some tips: After some laps like that hold the car with a block on a wheel, if you hold It with brakes or handbrake the rotors will fry the pads and your brake fluid might boil. I noticed you were using a lot of force holding on to the seat i get the stock seats for what you want, but some propper bucket seats will change the car and your experience completly for the better. Otherwise keep it up and sign up to every track day you can and have fun and specially dont obsess over times. I liked it but I would prefer if there were some outside vehicle cameras, like on the 4 corners, and if the cameraman would film you actually going around the track from the stands so we can see whats going on, because at times it felt like we weren't getting the full picture.

    I think after the hard work and dedication you put into the cars, you aren't afraid to push them and yourself to your limits, that is why content like this is so good. I want to learn what can go wrong and I also want to see you learn and develop the cars into something even more capable

    This was awesome to watch. Just the entire journey of seeing something built. Engineered to what we call peak performance and then make it happen. See it put into use. You are the creater and user. And that's something so awesome to see and experience along side you. Thank you for sharing this. Im curious to see now that you got to this stage how will you improve. How will this influence your next performance aspect of your cars and seeing the redesign of that and how it impacts when you go back to testing it. Seeing major results? Or consistent? Your awesome Rob. Keep up the amazing insane work. Your drive for knowledge makes many more of your followers strive for more as well. Bless you.

    Thank you for the quick aside on the throttle blips under braking. I have been struggling to figure that out for a while, and it's helpful to see _any_ instruction on it.

    Looking good! Nice to see some driving on the channel! :) Just one small thing I thought of during the video. Looks like you can move the seat forward a click, now it looks like when you turn you extend your arm and have to lift your shoulder. That wears the body and loses some control

    Track and more track please! Racecraft is so different to driving on normal roads but very rewarding. It will be good to watch the car evolve too as you learn how to set it up in race mode. Thanks for all your content. Great job!!

    So glad that i need to comment on what i saw..really glad you are getting your car dirty in the track..i understand the fun of building a supersophisticated fast car,but fast car exist in the roads and not behind garage doors..give your self more time to push your cars and learn from their limits,and if they break..
    I quote "if it is broke,it wasnt good enough"

    Loved you talking about the aspect of vision in driving. Me and my dad always quote Mikhail Mamistov, the unlimited aerobatic pilot. His term for it was "look widely" . Use your whole field of view, stay aware, look where you want to go.
