TOP 10 | Best Runway Walks (2017-2021)
czcams.com/video/tzQThhRK7GU/video.html
I’m not just sad about the models look at all these dead legendary houses….Oldham, Mizrahi, Alaia 1.0, and even Anna Sui and Mugler retreated to fragrances…
I worked in fashion in Paris through the 90's, honorable mention goes to Jerry Hall, nobody can project like her. the absolute best runway model is Naomi Campbell, I have never seen anyone glide when the walk, her movements were fluid like a creek flowing over pebbles, a chocolate syrup being poured onto ice cream...I never saw it in videos, but the first time I saw her in person I was gobsmacked at her quality above and beyond anyone else!!!!!
@@firstlast1604 i8ippp no p try to aasa, Amen xxx
My hedgehog waits for me to feed him/her. I try to give my hedgehog food which settles him/her. Such a beautiful creature! Xx
Why are women not allowed to have breast I don't understand
The way Naomi flicked her hair forward so the back of the dress could be seen..
Skill and pure elegance.
@MyTheory Bitch link?
Iconic.
Dam whew!!
So smooth with it
Yasmeen! She came, she conquered, and she magically disappeared. "Every flower has a season and a reason." - Said Someone Wise
well said!
Yasmeen worked for almost 10 years, a lot of people seem to think she only had a short career.
@@fred8433 I think they mean that she left her career too soon and she could have been more famous and gotten more attention.
@@katemosssimp4011 10 years is not too soon for a model and she got plenty of attention back then. She was just not all that interested in being a celebrity I guess. Tatjana Patitz had the same mentality.
@@fred8433 i'm saying that's what people usually mean. of course 10 years isn't to soon but she never wanted to be a celebrity so thats why people think she should have stayed longer so she could have gained attention. however if she was model famous like Naomi Campbell and left sooner then people wouldn't really complain thats what I personally think
i'm so glad Yasmeen is finally getting the recognition she deserves...she tends to be a bit forgotten because she disappeared back into private life rather than stay around the fashion world like Naomi...i do think Linda should have been top 10 over Christy.
I agree that Linda should have been top 10, but I would've replaced Helen Barquilla personally (partially because Christy is in my top five 90's supermodels list but I really do think her walk was superior to Helena).
Disappointed that Linda got only an honourable mention. Knowing how to work those cameras and photographers was her specialty and there’s no arguing that her catwalk is right up there too 😊
Most definitely, Evangelista was much more fluid.
Absolutely Tom. Yasmeen rules. Too bad the clip of her in a Versace show removing her sunglasses on the catwalk: can't recall the year of the show, wasn't included here. Now THAT gesture was genius. And I think Naomi is over rated. She appeared selling herself, not the clothes. Tyra is ridiculous. And yeah. Linda should have made top ten. Surely she ranks better than Eva Hergova? Whu? That her name? Don't ask what I think of her. And glad that Shalom Harlow made the list. Very versatile.
@@MrBounce01 agreed.
Yasmeens walk has so many layers .....the hips the face the figure....she's like a dream....
Yes 'layers' is a good word. Its multidimensionality and nuance, as if every walk was customized to the clothing. I especially enjoyed Yasmeen of 1991 and 1992 with her 'walk of life'.
So true. And that body is to die for.
Yasmeen had a killer walk that could not be beaten...Plus exotic looks and a killer body...Perfection personified...She is The Queen Of Catwalking...Big Time...
dont forget her hair!!! just magnificent 💕
Nah....face not that pretty
Shalom Harlow's face during the Versace walk was everything
Totally agree.
honestly she was doing these kind of unique face expressions everywhere at fashion shows. like that for her
She brought side-eye and face to every show. so many models have no expression at all. They walk great and look great but are missing that special something that Shalom had.
To Meoueo, What time?
I got chills!
This era of models were the epitome of high fashion runway. Their catwalks were so refined, tight, crisp, elongated, poised, and never missed a beat strutting in a straight line all while their upperbodies were relaxed. They elegantly flirted not just with the camera but also with the audience.
Yasmeen, Naomi and Karen are the trinity in terms of catwalk in the 90s
amen to that. yasmeen 1st. Karen 2nd. Naomi 3rd.
Switch Karen with Shalom and there you go
I dunno Shalom is amazing but Karen was widely regarded as having one of the best runway walks from designers to other models.
@@soraiabranco8687 ur wrong
@@Mamzellex03 Shalom is great, but she can be very hit or miss. Some days she can snatch our wigs like a stealthy assassin, other days she can give us diabetes with her over-the-top caffeinated walk. She is just too much of a tomboy rebel and hipster to be restrained by the norm (typical Sagittarius). That's why she quit ballet, and went for tap dancing. On the other hand, Karen is consistently great and sexy in the runway. She understands her niche as the sex symbol, and she does it so effortlessly. She makes clothes look expensive, and sells you the fantasy that you can look sexy on the clothes she wears. On the other hand, Shalom is more of a classic beauty like Christy Turlington, but with the edginess of Linda Evangelista, so she is the perfect mannequin for haute couture.
The best thing was that each model was allowed to have her own style and personality shine through. PPl were watching the shows even without much interest for the clothes, these girls were selling everything. Nowadays we have insta-models who look likethe same washed out zombies on the run and I wonder what was the reason which led to this.
I think its bcz designers didn't want any supermodel anymore. They cost them a lot of money and they want to be in the "top"
Models these days are probably bland because the people who run fashion shows essentially want them to be walking coat hangers. They want all the attention to be on the clothes and not the model
@@meh5421 Yes 100% along with models who are less known, that can't do a simple bland flavorless walk are easy to just replace now, because every model back then had a signature thing to their own walk.
Because fashion designers are tired of models getting all the attention instead of themselves who made the clothes. You can even hear high fashion models of today say that they are not the main focus when doing modeling shows but the designers who created the clothes. This is why high fashion models these days are chosen for their unconventional looks. Designers don't want to pick women who are conventionally beautiful as their looks and aura will take away the designer's shine. In short, ugly is currently in trend in the modeling and fashion world and has been in trend for quite a while.
@@minxili3317 I choked for laughing too much at 'ugly is currently in trend in the modeling and fashion industry'. Looking at today's model, most of them are average looking at best. There are a few that really beautiful, unforetunately not popular. So part of me agreed on this.
Naomi stalks like a jaguar down the runway, incredible walk
I agree and cannot see how others would even write a response about not being (in this UNOFFICIAL countdown) #1. I am 53 and have never heard of Yasmine-except the Y. Bleath(sp) who is notable. Naomi is, in my opinion, top gun. Undeniably the best, who has professional moves-she glides with effortless grace and personality that I have not seen since. Love you Naomi.
no words for YASMEEN!!
Yasmeen ALWAYS understood the assignment and was absolutely breathtaking! So glad she was #1. Special shout out to Shalom H. too...super underrated versatility.
Shalom has one of the most stunning faces I've ever seen. Strikingly beautiful.
Totally agree.
Love this! The 90s had the best catwalkers
take a look at the early 2000s models

@@juliannabigfootpena4284 Both eras did.

90s supermodel era was pretty boring if you ask me
Man 90's models really knew how to walk the walk.
Muse, Yes, Sir.
YASMEEN, Karen mulder, shalom, Helena, Naomi, christy, Eva, Tyra
I love how we all already knew which the top two legends were.
Omg I love Yasmeen so much! I would want a walk like hers, so sexy and confident without being too strong! LOVE
Without being too strong like Naomi and Tyra? Lol
Her walk is forced. Nothing natural and fluid.
Exactly! I think the best way to describe Yasmeen's walk is very confident, feminine, poised, and precise instead of sloppy and all over the place.
@@donychicago Tyra's walk is the definition of forced
@@dollynina8992 Agree.
Not just the women, but the clothes were sensational.....happy days.
We all know, YASMEEN THE QUEEN 👑
Yazmeen is like a model silhouette drawing comes to life, great body line
Back in the day at some point Naomi and Yasmeen were called 'The Panther' and 'The Tigress' due to how sultry, sexy and smooth their walks were
yasmeen was so iconic!!!!
Shalom Harlow is in my opinion one of the most beautiful women in the world. She’s stunning from head to toe and she sure can WALK 🤩
Она высокомерная ,вульгарная и ходит как пьяная
People who didnt know yasmeen must’ve been shocked and wondering why naomi was at #2 😂
Why everything has to be competition, it’s modeling. all of them have different style , csnt all walk the same , Yasmeen was amazing so is Karen, Eva , Naomi and so on
@@milax2730 who said the others weren’t amazing? And who said it was a competition? Yasmeen is superior and she rarely ever gets recognized for it! Every day ppl say naomi is the best catwalker that doesn’t mean its a competition
@@tahjsuer46 Naah! Naomi will always be the one and only Catwalk Queen 👑. Yasmin's walk is not as flawless as Naomi's.
This CZcams channel favours Yasmin that's why they put her at number 1
@@reeree4973 No. Even Naomi was inspired by her. Naomi said too that Yasmeen is the best catwalker
@@johnphilipteguihanon8293 naomi was not inspired by yasmeen naomi was mentored and inspired by catwalk legends from the 70s And 80s lol including iman
Something I knew all along- Yasmeen is the BEST catwalker of the the ‘90s. But it’s great to see that someone else was passionate enough to make and post a video with Yasmeen at the No. 1 spot! Bravo!
Agreed!
There are several videos that have been out for a few years still have her number one.
Yasmeen served you ELEGANCE, when she walked that runway!!!!
Naomi has the same walk each time which is legendary no doubt, but Yasmeens walk transforms with each outfit.
Oooh this list is so so good!! All the best of the best here. Really good to see Helena Baranquilla recognised with her sultry swaying hips. Love Eva's smiles and bouncy walk, her Mugler vamp appearance is stunning!
Shalom's side looks at the end of the runway are sublime. She kills it in couture for 90s Dior! She steals those show with all her expressive looks.
Cool and Serene energy of Carla Bruni. Classy blonde Karen Mulder smouldering with panache and sweetness. Naomi the panther, sassy and arching her back with those beautiful kick turns.
Then we have the Divine Aura of Yasmeen Ghauri. She has the most goddess vibes out of all models. She is in the moment, she isn't thinking or trying to walk, she is at ease and we the viewers feel it. She is credited with creating a new way to walk on the runway in the early 90s. She speeded up the runway walk. Nobody can come close to the fluidity of the rolling of the hips and ultra refined poise mixed with warmth and sexiness. Her black dress walk for Versace AW 91 show is untouchable and imo the greatest runway appearance of all time. She will always be #1.
So many great honorable mentions too! Charming Gurmit, gentle walker Sonia, Emma's Mugler SS 91 walk aka reveal (its more like a performance just watch it!! ) wearing the metal armour shield/breast plate with wig and cap look is one of the best things you will ever see. Love Nadja's robotic like walk with swaying neck moves from side to side.
I call Yasmeen goddes, because she is 💖.
Wow I can’t agree more with your descriptions, you’ve really studied her movements
Helena who???? Do you mean Christensen?
Naomi Campbell and Yasmeen Ghauri were the iconic catwalkers of the 90's!
Shalom also
Yes ! Yasmeen is no 1! I’m sooooo happy !!!!
And yes ! 90s supermodels are incomparable !
Karen - the most beautiful
Eva - Marilyn Monroe, the best smile
Tyra - the most successful
Yasmeen - the unforgettable
Helena - unique look
@@vcyre She is successful financially.
@@vcyre regardless.....
But still to take into account where she got started ...
Yasemeen = Imaan Hammam. She’s one of the few of today’s girls that are enjoyable to watch during a show.
Imaan is gorgeous not to mention her walk she was an icon and don’t got me started with yasmeen, I love her also!
You forgot yamine wejnaldum (sorry for the spelling)
Yes! And Imaan always says that Yasmeen is her biggest inspiration
Yasmeen is the best of the best, so fluid, like chiffon underwater. Each and every one of these gorgeous women is unique and beautiful.
Idk why I’m OBSESSED with how fierce Helena Barquilla walks to the music at @3:48
Underrated!
To CS 9511. The walking was dynamic: The music was too strong for the outfit.
Yasmeen had the best walk ever! Period!
I don't think any one has topped Iman.
Naaah that’s Naomi
@@barbzb304 Naomi herself said that Yasmeen had the best catwalk please. 💀
Naomi and Yasmeen are by far untouchable.
Yasmeen always threw those hips around. It’s such a great sight to behold!!! Catwalk GOAT!!!
This has to be the most accurate and the best list I’ve ever seen. I do agree that Linda Evangelista should have been in the list and not an honorable mention. I think Helena Christensen is also better than where she was listed. But it does appear that Yasmeen Ghauri and Naomi Campbell vie for spots one and two. But I will always believe that Yasmeen Ghauri is the greatest runway model of all time.
Ikr, Linda and Yasmeen knew how to sell clothes and also be themselves at the same time on the runway.
Yasmeen walk is beyond Naomi’s constant flappy bird walk.
Could have done without Tyra
@@alright14 naomis walk is art if you don’t get you don’t get it
Shalom Harlow - hands down number 1 (close second - Naomi.) Third: Ines Dela Fressange (although she's early 90s)
Linda wasn't fierce enough. She barely had a personality unlike some of the other models of that time. She was boring and plain in comparison.
YASMEEN ALL THE WAY.
Tyra Banks’s signature style and aura made all these luxury high fashion brands seem so affordable
down to earth queen with her affordable cheap walk
Yes her walk is so fun and fierce
@chihamwong6974 You’re a hater
Carla Bruni unique. Great personality, presence, a regal way to walk.
Yep i love herrrr
Yep i love herrrr
Who back then could have predicted she would be France's 'First Lady' some day.
Completely agreed with you. While she wasn't as fluid as Naomi and Yasmeen in her movement, or effortlessly sexy as Karen, she was far more versatile than them, as the other three had a very signature walk. Carla understood who the character woman for each fashion house was. If you see her walk in Versace Fall 1992 (6:17), she takes slow but sultry steps in that red S&M dress, while slowly undressing her red puffer jacket to give off the sexy and steamy vibes of the Versace vixen. She does this also in the leopard-print dress and baroque-style jumpsuit (6:43), as they were also garments that emphasized a similar silhouette. On the other hand, in the opening of the show, she portrays a totally different woman, wearing a mini-skirt dress with a denim jacket. She plays onto the youthful and flirtatious girl role, by looking a bit shy and demure at first, but toward the end of the runway, she confidently does several ballerina twirls with a more jovial disposition, emphasizing the floridness of the skirt, as well as demonstrating her playful but deceiving nature of a coquette. When she walks in the long-skirt floral dress with the crinoline (cage underskirt) and denim shirt, she emphasizes the bell-shape roundness of the ballgown by shaking the long skirt in a pendulum-like motion, and doing several waltz-like turns, selling you the fantasy of how much fun she is having in that dress. But she also makes sure to not forget the Versace woman, as she seductively plays with her hair by swirling it aggressively.
Then, if you see her in other shows, like Prada, she walks far more understated and modest, with a more demure expression. She takes slow but gentle steps, with no gyration of the hips whatsoever, and does a minimal pose, with a slow 90s turn rather than a full twirl. In more sophisticated designers like Dior, Givenchy, Valentino, and Saint Laurent, she would walk more regally, by elongating her neck, maintaining a more still frame by keeping her shoulders back and stable, making herself look more statuesque and aristocratic. If the garment came with a veil scarf or cape, she would extend one arm sideways, in a straight form (not bent elbow), allowing the fabric to flow gracefully like a feather with the breeze of her elegant walk. She was not a one trick pony at all. Sometimes, her walk would have symmetric form, with either both her hands on her hips, or no hands on her hips at all, or it would be asymmetric, with only one hand on her hip. She just knew when to use which form for the right occasion.
If you see her in any 90s Chanel show, she portrays the typical French coquette. She appears more jovial and playful, looking from side to side, while smiling at the audience, to give off the flirty vibes. She also puts her hand in her tiny Chanel jacket pocket, to sell the cute look, but also demonstrate that the jacket comes with pockets. Toward the end of the runway, before stopping, she crisscrosses her legs with her feet being pointed down at a sharp angle, to emphasizes the tone-ness of her legs, as well as putting her hand around her pelvic area to seduce (for example, 6:51), especially when she wears a swimsuit (Naomi said Carla was the first girl every designer would go to when they got a swimsuit in their collection). When it is time to do the infamous 90s twirl, she makes sure to kick one foot out to show off her killer legs, and stick one hand out, slightly bent, to emphasize her femininity with a move that is totally reminiscent of the infamous drop the napkin technique. Her signature flirty pirouettes were just genius. Not to mention, she would play with the accessories, so well. Whether swirling a small cute bag, taking off her sunglasses toward the end of a runway, unbuttoning her jacket on time, putting a hand on her pocket or waist. This woman was a master at the art of body language. A very nuanced runway model indeed.
She was so creative that even Viviane Blassel, a legendary French television fashion journalist who has filmed over 100 thousand fashion shows, said Carla Bruni was the greatest runway model of all time. She said that Carla was the most intelligent when it came to the showmanship of the clothes, and she knew how to tell the story of the collection from the very moment she would step onto the runway. In the 25 seconds of walking that she had, she was able to demonstrate the full potential of the garment so creatively and ingeniously. Not to mention, she knew how to display the clothes for the cameras so well. She was such an excellent collaborator, that Viviane said it was always such a pleasure to film her.
I tottaly agree 🇮🇹
So very right ! Yasmeen ! If a first place has to be given, then it truly goes to Yasmeen Ghauri
11:15 is the best moment! Naomi never disappoints
Oh baby take it easy. All they have to do once they’re onstage is walk, pose, and make sure the right angle hits the dress for pictures. Then walk back. I work in Fashion Week and let me tell you it is not complicated. To flick your hair so your back can be seen is like saying “my friend is so smart, she crosses her legs so that everyone can see the slit on her dress”. Yea… genius! Who would have thought of that! … Never disappoints 😉

Tyra’s walk was not very high fashion, I’m glad she went commercial. Victoria Secret was perfect for her.

i’d wear all these outfits, nowadays fashion show clothes are hideous
Well i mean fashion back then was less bold in colors but more patter-esque and much more wearable in every day fashion, I guess? Fashion today is more bold and bright. I guess it's all about mix and matching pieces together that would be deemed unwearable.
I'm just guessing designers throw on more accessories on the models to sell more. I'm not sure
I’m tired of modern minimalistic style

They couldn't use things that didn't exist in their time and pretending they wouldn't all be on sm if it had existed back then is laughable.
So many of these models are great chameleons, completely changing up their walks and behaviors depending on each brand’s unique feel. I think that’s truly what makes a model great, and it’s something we’re seeing less and less of today as brands become so homogeneous and models are treated less like people and more like glorified clothes hangers.

I have worked a fashion industry and have been able to get to know her and what a beautiful soul she is! She is so down to earth, funny and always easy to work with! And she take her work seriously! Great working ethic was always her best quality and you are so right, she is maybe most underrated catwalk, high fashion model. Such a shame! Because, She have it all... and she deserves more remembering!
Thank you and peace to you all ✌🏽❤
