That thumbnail picture he looks like George Thorogood I've never seen Pat with hair so short but all that aside, Pat's one of the best and still kicking it hard! Age hasn't gotten in his way.

I remember seeing him in a bar in Gatineau, Quebec several times in the 70's with his band "Red Hot". Pat stood out from every other guitarist in the region; a true virtuoso. The rest of his career is typical of many musicians of the era: found success, found drugs, found bottom. Some make it and some don't. I wish him all the best - he was a hell of a player back then.

So, no mention of the “darker side” of his career. . .Nose Candy!
Once he started doing it regularly, his band mates started distancing themselves from him.
Pat Thrall and Tommy Aldridge left. Travers lifestyle had drained his budget and his nice $300,000 sound and light system was sold to pay debts. The record company saw the signs and pulled most of his backing.
To revive his career he joined a band and started to write more commercial songs, but failed.
He used his previous success to continue touring, playing his old favorites…but he never reached the heights of his past.
“Go For What You Know” is one of the best live albums ever!

I was just listening to Crash and Burn which made me think to look Pat and check out some videos. And I noticed this. Very interesting. I really wish more people knew about his work. I'd say for my favorite, it would be a toss up between "Go for What You Know" and "Crash and Burn". Really all his stuff is very good and quite varied in sound. Thanks for the video.

The stint with Thrall ruined Travers. The music was great… but he got insecure about his standing in his own band as keyboards became more prominent and he was the one playing them… while Pat Thrall was dazzling audiences with his guitar playing. So he moved Thrall out of the band. And that was the beginning of his decline. Btw, if you want to hear a killer record check out the Thrall project called Automatic Man. With Todd Cochrane (‘Bayete’) on keys and vox, Doni Harvey on bass, and Santana’s dazzling Mike Shrieve on drums (and Impakt electronic percussion), the first eponymous record is killer.
