- Tucking into my very first Afternoon Tea Challenge at the Songbird Cafe-Bar in Elland, England! Under the watchful eye of @Beardmeatsfood and Mrs. Beard, I tried to become the second person ever to defeat Britain's BIGGEST afternoon tea challenge.. but SOLO! Teams of two have one hour to finish a tower of assorted sandwiches, meat pies, salads, cakes and sweets, along with a cup of tea or coffee in order to win their meal for free, a groovy medal, and a spot up on the Wall of Fame!

I'm from the UK and Afternoon Tea is dainty sandwiches with the crusts cut off.
The cakes tend to be small and pretty not 1/4 slabs of gateaux.
Never seen coleslaw ,pork pies,salad or pickle on them either🤣
Ya right, doodlebug, but i have had a diddy pork pie with relish, betimes, mid afernoon.
Ive been to many afternoon tea in Canada….. and you are correct, this is extremely large portions.
That's the point. It's an eating challenge.
It said the largest afternoon tea so I think instead of putting a shit ton of food or big sized if the things and not asssss much although there is a lot of the food regardless haha

The casual, relaxed way you complete these challenges is SO much more fun to watch than the other gross people out there. I love Atlas and now you too. Great job!
Now those sandwiches and cake slices are way larger than the normal tea sandwiches

it does say "largest" so that could either mean giant or a crap load, this restaurant chose Giant

I really liked that the stuff they put into the challenge to bulk it out was all really suitable for the theme: not just a huge pile of French fries.

Of all the foods to make a challenge out of, I did not expect there to be one for Afternoon Tea. The platter looked amazing too!

I have actually been to afternoon tea with my daughters when they were younger. The American Heritage Girls troop in Omaha, Nebraska has an annual tradition of having a mother/daughter tea. It was one of the highlights of our year. We would have the little finger sandwiches and then some fruit and veggies and then the top layer would be the sweets. All of that would be washed down with tea poured from delicate china tea pots into our antique china tea cups. It was very posh, but we loved it. I miss those days.

Normally the food at afternoon tea is finger food. The size of those cakes look like something i've not seen before
Had me giggling Katina and first thought that came to mind.. Pinkie out and up. Love the "coffee" vs "tea" a true American reaction. I think you could have beat Beards record little lady, never hesitate to take down your hero's you will make them better in a competition.
I felt my arteries hardening when you were working on the chocolate cake and my fear was all that sugar and frosting would have knocked you out. Glad to see you took out Tea for Two! Well done!

It was a good thing we Americans joined forces with the Brits to save Frances refinement and class after they were taken over by Germany. French food is my favorite, my grandparents were from Great Britain. There is a lot to offer from both countries.
