  • This year marks the 375th anniversary of the witch trials in Huntingdon that saw 9 women and men accused of witchcraft. Why were people such as these targeted, and what evidence was used against them? In this video, watch infamous witchfinders Matthew Hopkins and John Stearne explain their techniques to a local citizen who is concerned about the presence of witches in Huntingdon in 1646.
To find out more about the Huntingdon witch trials, visit the Cromwell Museum's new exhibit, The Trial of the Huntingdon 9, on display until 18 July 2021.

Very nice vignette. Pity that I won't be able to visit the museum to see it. Nearer me though is the Pendle Witch Museum at Barrowford which is well worth a visit if you are ever in this neck of the woods.
