Hey! My dad has a cat named “Otis” and he nicknames her(Otis) “Hurricane”. (At first my dad thought that his cat Otis was a boy, turns out she(the cat) was a girl.)

The weatherman just said water temperature was nothing unusual as Otis made landfall. He then goes on later to say that the warming ocean resulted in more intense hurricanes. So, what is it? Also, it seem that Otis gained strength over land, which is the exact opposite of what hurricanes do when they make landfall. Something is fishy here. Who has an explanation? Natural or man-made?

It started weakening before even reaching land just because of the presence of the land. once it made landfall it rapidly weakened. The water temperature being high off Mexico isn’t unusual. The water being as high as it was allowed Otis to become a category 5 quickly
