Tks for sharing n this video was much appreciated! I particularly love material testing n since I like working with brass, your video just made my day. Please keep up the good work 🤩
Awesome Katie! I decided to subscribe to your channel because of, well, a lot of reasons. You are good at making videos and making jewelry in general. You are smart, logical and I am totally in love with your smile. OK, it wasn't because of your smile... actually, ok a little. Whatever... ok, alot! What can I say, I'm caught! Bye for now, I have some brass to silver solder. lol
I would braze it using a brass filler rod and oxy acetylene torch, not too much heat. Just be sure to prepare the joint with a bevel. Sand it and blend it in when finished
You mean as a better alternative? Why would you do this method over hers? Just asking as someone who just bought a soldering iron to solder with brass and copper and is scared of torches. lol
Hi! i buy brass wire solder through RIO GRANDE JEWELRY SUPPLY -brass wire solder, item #132201 www.riogrande.com/product/brass-wire-solder-20-ga/132201GP/?code=132201 i use liquid aquiflux, but any jewelry flux should work. www.esslinger.com/aquiflux-self-pickling-liquid-hard-soldering-flux-for-jewelers-choose-size/
Have you ever soldered a sterling silver bezel to a brass back plate? I’m wondering how easy it would be to do this. If you have which solder would you suggest for this please? Thank you!
i have! its a little tricky because the brass gets hot and wants to melt the fine silver bezel. i would say try easy silver solder or the brass wire solder. i would suggest soldering on a charcoal block, heat the block up with your torch, place your fluxed piece of brass onto the block, heat the brass a bit THEN place your bezel onto the brass and solder the bezel down.

Hi Katie! What heat source is best for the brass solder?
A handheld butane torch works great. :D
