I have been Chinary's assistant since 2020. In some ways, I take this to be my own way of getting a graduate eduction in composing. I learn so much just by communicating with him!
Chinary has helped me (and so many others!!!) come closer to the purpose of art and music, but might I also add that he has helped me come closer to the Buddha... not that we talk about it much at all, but being in his artistic and (consequently) spiritual world has pointed me in more directions than just musical ones.
The title comes from my first meeting with Chinary in 2018, where I showed him a piece I later discarded, and his first comment was "Harmony is but one sandbox..."
Those who know Chinary's music will recognize all the things that I have lifted from his music to make this tribute, most notably the very end...
Upon hearing this and guiding me to the finishing touches, he said: "Remember, you belong to the Art Domain... NOT human reality."
