Question: I thought that the lacquer was clear but you called it “gold lacquer”. So the lacquer of a brass trumpet is actually not transparent but has an opaque color itself like paint (gold), which means that when you look at a lacquered brass trumpet you’re not actually seeing the raw brass underneath? Interesting horn. I would like to know the make model and serial number, please. Is Feree's penetrating oil a real deal maker? Leagues above 3-1 oil, Liquid Wrench, etc?
Thanks for showing the tool, but the extraction technique you use it's to rustic and ordinary Should be smoother in order to protect the instrument. Any ways thanks so much, because that give me a better idea to design other type of tool, in case if it not in off space to work. CHEERS!
The tools are a bit more brute strength. On slides that are brutally stuck like this one was it was necessary. On instruments used daily you may never need this much force, but it's important to know that you can remove these severely stuck slides. Because of the taper and no locking mechanism hand strength is required. Gentle techniques require heat and patience, but results in burnt lacquer most of the time. This method minimizes lacquer burn with minimal harm.

You mentioned that you would use sand paper. What grit would you use on slides?
