  • When Jenny Gray was six years old she decided she might like to work for her local zoo in South Africa.
Jenny did eventually get a job at the zoo, as the CEO, after a career in engineering, transport and finance.
All of those jobs - being the head of a bus company when Apartheid was crumbling, trying to make sense of debit and credit cycles in banking - made her think deeply about ethics.
But nothing made her question ethics and morality more than working at the zoo.
Zoos have a controversial history. They were initially built by kings and caliphs as private collections to display their prestige and conquest, but eventually transformed into scientific, educational and conservation institutions.
Many people still feel a bit "funny" about zoos, and Jenny has been investigating why that might be.
