Very, very nice. The version I'm most used to hearing is from Kentucky fiddler J.P. Fraley, who I believe also heard it/learned it from Aly Bain. Back in the late 80's when I was in my early twenties, I accidentally stumbled into the Fraley Festival at Carter Caves, Kentucky and fell in love with old-time music, mostly because of Margaret's. Just a lovely tune!
Hi, I so enjoyed your video. I've been playing a very basic version of this song for years, but never heard it this way. Thank you! I would also love a copy of this music, since I'd been playing it by ear up till now.
Aly Bain has a very broad repertoire, and many top quality videos from his TV shows. Bruce MacGregor plays the West Coast style, and is a member of Blazin Fiddles. His style is relaxed and easy to follow. Paul Anderson plays the North East style- very energetic and muscular.
Did you ever notice how quick people are to deflect credit for songs written by anyone English? Whether it be Pat Shuldham-Shaw, James Hill, Charles Jefferys & Sidney Nelson, Harry Clifton, Peakfiddler, John Kirkpatrick or William Shakespeare someone wants to put the credit elsewhere. Usually it's John Q. Traditional ----- (you pick the country.)
my cat HATES me playing the fiddle, she's also giving me dirty looks just playing this on my laptop.........I have to wait till she goes out of the house to practice.
Appreciate your style of teaching this and the background story, thank you!
Thanks Kathy!

Hi Michal. Glad you liked it. I went to Zakopane a few years ago and heard some great fiddle music there!
Another good lesson, thanks.
Thanks Joe!
Beautiful
Thanks Mitch!
I've been trying to find good Scottish fiddlers recently. Do you reccommend anyone?

@@TheFiddleChannel Much appreciated. This will give me something to chew on for sure.

I'm so sorry to hear that. My cat is very supportive of my fiddle practice while the rest of my family is not!
