My top 10 songs of the 80s. Age of consent , close to me , fish below the ice , Get the balance right , the killing moon , Enola Gay , Gates of steel , moving in stereo , Bad(U2)….and this song here!.. but there’s also The killing jar , cross eyed and painless , Grey matter , never tear us apart…. Oh well I can go on all day !
1982, compartía el cuarto con mi hermano mayor ( el de 17 yo de 11 años) el tenía una radio casette de la marca Crown, puso el casette y sono este tema. Una agrupación fuera de este mundo, lo máximo Blancmange.
i agree....best song by blancmange by far......should have been an A side in my opinion......i reckon if we get enough hits on it they will re-release it....oh hang on i am dreamin again!!!!....hahha....still great after all these years....excellent xx
Blancmange was sooooo huge ... So True ... I remember that track each single times it was played ... how people rushed on DF How no one was speacking anymore only hypnotised ... slow motion of new wave .. you could hear depeche mode on radio, you coul discover Blancmange only in clubs and I jut LOOOOOVED THAT
Yes, I was a teenager in the 80's, and indeed, Blancmange, Kissing the Pink, etc were only to be discovered in nightclubs. Great times! Gone forever....
Reading these comments I am so proud that I could listen to Blancmange as a small child as my parents somehow managed to have this album on a tape. In Hungary. Years before the iron curtain has fallen. Not to mention which album was on the B-side of that black TDK cassette: It was Talking Heads' Speaking In Tongues. Yeah, the music taste of mommy and daddy is really cool. 😊
we had dj who would mix this " if i could give u a mirror" by eurythmics and then mix again with " love by your side" the extended mix by the thompson twins. then " games above my head" all three songs were perfect for each other.
it was really ashame that alot of great new wave songs never made to the masses. thank god for K-ROQ in pasadena. they were great at putting alot of of the 80's music for us to enjoy. remember groups like leisure process. yazoo 20/20 donny iris bronski beat alice cooper came out with a new wave song called " drones" spandau ballet kate bush peter gabriel blondie's EAT TO THE BEAT. early joe jackson slow children the list goes on.
Now that I know that this song is about sleep paralysis it makes perfect sense to me. I open my mind and listen to blancmange and have perfect clarity in understanding their music better than ever before.
This about the Devil attacking the narrator in his dreams while wide awake only later to tell of his attacks. Be forewarned since the Devil only mocked him but didn’t kill him in the end. So it’s hopeful by the end of his ordeal. All that plus some of the best programmed beats of that golden era.
My friend, you have just made me so, so happy!! :) Thank you so much, this is the best version of this song, used to play it to death back in the day! Gracias from the UK !
Just listened to the official London Records album version also. Seems that the tempo was a bit slower on what the radio was playing, and the treble a bit muted. Same as on my Mange Tout album, but I'll need to go buy a turntable in order to truly corroborate. It's much more powerful the way I remember it....
and its gonna be alright....alright...alright.... blancmange..EDM Pioneers..influence progressive house to trance to techno. saw then saturday at the red gallery(may 2015)..wouldnt have looked out if place at the hacienda, the wag, spetrum, shoom. on.it.
@djscotty1111 im not sure you understand the envy this 21 year old feels right now. clubs now don't play amazing tunes like this, just dubshit and autotuned garbage. nothing would make me happier than to walk into a club with music like this on all night.

80s was truly the BEST times to be alive.....
MultiMrMiles oh yessssss
"Game Above My Head" just put my soul in the dance floor in the early morning before the end of the dark night, before dawn in the 80s

Blancmange criminally underplayed on the radio at the time. Should have been huge.

we had dj who would mix this " if i could give u a mirror" by eurythmics and then mix again with " love by your side" the extended mix by the thompson twins. then " games above my head" all three songs were perfect for each other.
Stumbled across this band back in '82, always a winner
Back in time that music was real music
Excellent remix. Adds to the original. Even better in this 12" version.
Holy Moses. What a mix !
Takes me back to The Exchange hotel, Oxford St Sydney in the 80's, what a time to be alive.

KROQ and KNAC were a life line at that time. Occasionally I could get 91x from San Deigo. It was a dynamic era musically.
Pasadena from 1980 to 2001....I pray that God will return me to Paradise soon!!
The godfathers of new wave radio, KROQ-LA, WLIR-NYC, CFNY-Toronto, the spirit of radio...
(I think that Alice Cooper song was called "Clones.")
Chrrr....ssssss.sssssleeeeeep
Think your a Freak on drugs!
such an amazing song. so glad i grew up in the eighties with bands that blew out minds with their music........love it....
With a little remix it could have been an excellent James Bond theme song.
Rare case of a remix that might actually be better than the original. This has a more minimal sound and I like the more prominent bass.
Check out “Reap the wild wind”… one of the only cases of a remix bested the original…Also “Bad” live by U2!!
@@anthonycastaneda6939 - Agreed. This extended play WAY better than the single. Better groove, and the bass line really pops!
Happy memories of clubbing to this in my younger days. Thanks for uploading.
Timeless........
