Sheer perfection
I love Blancmange's uniqueness both in sound and lyrics. Even their instrumentals stand out. Waves, for me, is the best song they did. It just has an indefinable something extra. Great to hear this extended mix. It saves me hitting "repeat" quite as often! :-)

Such a beautiful track. "Waves" sends me back to 1983, and seeing Blancmange at The Hammersmith Palais. A standing only venue, that soon turned into a magically happy sweaty disco of swirling synthesizers and sitars. Brilliant concert and all for £3.50.....although the memories remain priceless 🧡

@Pixie Pete I went to Ibiza in the 80’s and some DJ was playing Genetic Engineering by OMD but the intro went on for what seemed like ever.. I’ve searched for it since but to no avail.. all I can assume is that he’d mixed it himself on tape😳
I bought this record on 12 inch imported vinyl at a Tower Records in California upon release, and never saw it again. I love it! Best luck finding it, Wolfgang etc.!

I guess this is as close to an unofficial extended version as it gets.
Officially there never really was an extended version of this song.
There was however the original version, which didn't have the strings on it. (Can be found on first pressings of the LP, Happy Families.) That string-less version is also the longest at about 4.25.
What might top this (Ultra Traxx) remix, would be to create an extended version by mixing the two versions: The strings/no strings.
