This just shows that you don't need expensive gear to dj well!
This just proves you need to be James Hype
If u can master the art of mixing on cheap equipment you will be amazed how much better u sound using top end gear.

@@kaleb7299 have u ever been playing in front of a crowd like the ones He gets?!
Its not how Well you press the buttons but how u manage to deal with pressure and mistakes. Everyone can do the James hype shit inside the bedroom
@@kaleb7299 and what’s wrong with planned sets 90% of main stage djs nowadays has pre planned sets or the same set for a full tour.
Speaking as someone who got a DDJ400 a couple of months ago just to play around, the only thing about this set is I'm torn as to whether I am inspired or utterly depressed.
Amazing stuff on modest equipment. It genuinely needs to be applauded.
I'm depressed because I'm 44 and my time came and gone and I will never be as good as any Deejay. I only start to Deejay 4 years ago. Well I don't call myself Deejay. I only play for the fun and love for music
@@helderalmeida2790 Don't be I'm also 44 jears old.
I used to play in some clubs.
And at the first edetion off tomorrow land.
I don't now wich software program u use.
I tryed them all.,for me virtual dj is the best . Automatic phrase mixing etc. Analysis in witch key the song is.
Try it out! The hacked version is easy to find.
@@helderalmeida2790 I am just joining the club at around same age :)
Remember there's alot of planning here. You can set up que points on upcoming tunes so as soon as your done with a tune, u can go to the next one exactly where u want it.
Kinda standard if your 'performing.
@@helderalmeida2790 dont be depressed about it bro
Epic, I just did my 1st beach set Yesterday...I just turned 54 and had a blast...Just doing some basics...Its NEVER to late...Lot of people loved it...May look at your class...Love this...
Bro! I'm 44 and just bought my first set of decks. I friend said i could never be a proper dj and i want to make him eat his words. Have been discouraged bc im so old... thanks for making me feel better
Just what the Dr ordered, glad to hear ya. It’s never to late, go get that flow and let ‘‘em all feel your flow. We can rep it. Age is just a number. People feel it no matter. It’s such a blast and ya get into the vibe…Send it to the Tribe and see ya out there…
@@Dr_Strangelove702 im 24 and having watched guys like james hype for years id love to get into it as well but i feel like its too late for me lol, it's super intimidating (even the beginner boards) but i suppose as in everything in life we start out as beginners and how skilled we want to be at it is up to us. Thanks for the reassuring words!
This just proves you don't need all the expensive kit to light the room on fire, you just need pure skill. This guy is a fucking God when it comes to DJing. Keep up the good work bro 🔥🙌🏻
thankyou g!
@@JamesHype thank you for explaining 😊
@@popcat9335 Explaining what? He didn't say anything the whole time
No it proves when you're James Hype it doesn't matter
Crazy just how much planning is involved in these mixes
I 💯 agree, his Rekordbox must look like Mrs Hinch’s living room
In this case, way too much 👍 but he does smash it up 👍👍
Crazy how many drugs this guy takes before performing a mix.
@@mollymurphy999 bro, u clearly have no feeling for music, if u dont look like u are about to OD before a drop and during a session. U aint FEELING it
@@siggmaisters1531 And that's on god ;D
I need to specifically comment on this video. So quick story. Was getting into djing in my late teens and into early 20s. After a couple incidents involving hard drive failures and loss of my music, after my house was broken into and my MacBook stolen along with drives, after equipment breaking and being low on funds, I stopped.
Fast forward 13 years later, im 34, at a new low in my life without many interests and no direction.
Randomly saw this video and saw that controller with only one cord... and most importantly saw you tearing it up and you made it look so fun. Ive never even heard of you at that point, yet you Inspired me to get a stand alone (I went with denon prime go). I'm regretting I stopped mixing all this time.
Now fast forward a few weeks, I'm not feeling nearly so low, and I'm realizing I need some pro equipment which I ordered.
You're incredibly inspirational in what you do and how you do it. Thanks buddy. You help people in ways you might not even have considered.
3:20 ia one of the best mixes I have ever seen in my life for real. Its sooo good
I felt your back watching this
Also the fact this guy doesn’t even need to make these types of vids but does to prove you don’t need this expensive ass gear to be good is top quality professionalism. Absolute shagger. Love him.
@@lordbutler482 lol no
@@lordbutler482 not anyone can be a good dj
All you need is music and passion, realistically. Everything else can be learned
I know you arent supposed to compare your gear to another DJ but I always do. The fact that he kept his quality on that controller gave me a huge boost of confidence. Thanks for showing that complex mixes can happen on any controller!
I’ve been following James for a couple of years now on CZcams and it’s easy to see that he has a pure talent in DJing and you can tell he’s loving every moment, I was so chuffed for him when I started hearing his tunes being played on radio 1 !!!!
Keep up the good work James hype xx 😘
I've not heard anything as good as this since the legends of the 90's...Good to hear a new legend in the making..this is nothing short of Tuuune. So much energy...brilliant
I love listening, and watching James Hype mix. Back in the 90’s, I loved Bad Boy Bill because he was incorporating a lot of his scratching, and DMC DJ battle techniques into his sets, and then all of the creativeness just went out the window. Obviously DJ technology has changed things, but between all of the the old school DJ tricks that are available, mixed with today’s technology the sky is the limit. Unfortunately almost all DJs don’t want to go the extra mile to taking their DJ talent to the next level, but James Hype truly takes it to the next level. He’s also showing us all the new things that are possible in today’s world with all the great technology that’s available to us now these days.
plot twist: he's a giant, using regular cdjs
Hahaha
This gave me chills, just hands down AMAZING
Pure talent. Enjoyed the whole 12 minutes!🔥
Very good 👏
It's a showcase of what sh1theads like u might be able to achieve on your tin-pot bottom end controllers. Have you seen what this guy does on 4 CDJs in clubs, live, for hours?
@@lordbutler482 then maybe check out how many people can do what he's doing in the video versus how many people can write frustrated and embarrassing comments on CZcams 💜🫂
@@lordbutler482 lemme ask u bruh.. point blank yes or NO.. do you dj? do have access to dj gear?
At least when I see you mash it up on CDJ's I can justify to myself that I can't mix as good as I'm just using DDJ800... this now makes me feel I need to work harder LOL. Great mix!

I have such a appreciation for James Hype. He is indeed a real DJ
You are the best. I done a dj school 13 year aho, but i give up long time ago. What you are doing is pro level mind bloing.
Professor at the controls💥💥 Gentlemen and ladies, hats off 👏
You have been always my inspiration to mix creative mixes.
If you were able to make this on a ddj400 then I think the only limit is ourselves.
DDJ-400 has almost the same functions than any other new gen consoles. Only difference is the size of the buttons. Even the length of the pitch faders are not an issue here since he is not using them (wondering if this guy's knows how to beatmatch using his ears only?!)
... A DDJ-400 has ten times more functionalities than a DJ really needs. :-)
That’s awesomeness to the core! I really enjoy your content, very energetic plus pure skill thanks for giving me motivation to become the best of myself.
That's got to be one of my favourite mixes you've done, you looked you were having just pure fun aswel!! Good times 👌👍👍
James looks like you're playing with a toy compared to the usual rig, but you still bang the tunes out! Proving it isn't the equipment that makes a good DJ. ;)
it's true to be a good dj n this only in the equipment
Absolutely - seems it doesn't matter what gear is provided!!!! 😍👍
anyone knows how he does that sort of wawa effect at 0:40? (he does at at almost every drop)
plz
Edit : solved so thanks to everyone who answered!
technically this can do more than a pair of cdjs
@@mike_gread just a loop that gets tighter and then he plays around with it
Incredible. This is why I aspire to be. A master on any and every device.
It’s not about the equipment. It’s about the MUSIC. If you got the rhythm, you can make it happen on anything.
James Hype is the man. This mix is sick. If you are in the craft and a DJ then you can truly appreciate this. Great job James Hyp🔥🔥🔥🔥
I have bought my 6 year old son the DDJ400 for Christmas as all he ever watches is James Hype, M Zone, Mark EG.

James you are one of my favourite DJs and to see you doing what you do best on a controller is skill. I love you DDJ tips course. Looking forward for more to come
I love everything about this video!!
The location, the choice of music, the fact he is playing on an entry level controller and him diggin the music! Good times! Not jealous at all 😅

Amazing to se a pro play on this deck, inspiering delux.

LMAO I love it brother the little baby decks and your managing around all the levels as always a flawless mix. EPIC!
I love your looping tricks
Super Sick, The 400 does most everything you need, I love it.
Thanks for doing this!
Damn, 12 minutes of pure talent🔥 wish he could teach me how to mix, this is pure feeling of the music🔥🔥
Search on here for his 'How I DJ' tutorial. All these techniques broken down.
Can you imagine this set on a beautiful summer evening at Ushuaïa or Tomorrowland? Instant happiness and one BIG smile 😃🎉🚀
Masterlcass in acapella mashups and hot cues. Awesome!
brooo its one of the best mixes i have evere heard.. props to u
Could you please do a ‘how to’ on this mix? I would like to know what songs and what effects you used so I could learn to do something like this myself. I have a ddj400 controller and I would LOVE to see you explain how you did some parts of this mix with just the ddj400. I’m sure A LOT of your fans would appreciate it too to see ‘behind the scenes’ and definitely with a popular beginner dj controller like the ddj400.
Great awesome mix and we love you very much ❤️❤️❤️
I love how James has to hold the decks when he does the volume chops 😂😂
Only way to get that true rhythmic rip of the fader I suppose 😂
James Hype..amazing work
WOW amazing mix.. on the DDJ 400. Thanks for the video.
8:15 is where it all changes for me!!! UNREAL
That set was better than other ones with “bigger equipements”
🔥🔥🔥🔥🥳🥳🥳🥳 another great set James love the mashups on the fly pure 🔥🔥🔥
Still one of my absolute favorite mixes. I always come back to it and just jam.
So glad to see you rocking out on such a simple kit!!! Really inspiring!!!!
This is insane! 🔥💥 This must be way more difficult than DJing on his 4 CDJs. Because he's pretty much managed to pull off a 3 deck mashup mix with only 2 decks 😂 He literally had to echo out of some tracks so he could quickly load the next one 👌 I'd love to see you do a DDJ 1000 or XDJ XZ mix with the 4 deck dual layers!
James your the man, sick mix
Being a person that is literally installing virtual DJ and never ever mixed this inspired a lot of me, thanks a lot I hope someday i can make things as you
Doesn't matter what you put in front off this guy he will always get party started 100% proper DJ
This shows you 2 things: 1) with this cheap equip you can do wonders. 2) this guy's dj abilities are something else
Hell yea!! 😂 this makes me happy bc im currently playing clubs in LA and SF and I practice on a ddj-200
This is a banging mix, I’m not this experimental mixing as I just mainly mix oldskool way but learning hot cues etc more recently and this video as taught me quite abit. Good work
Size doesn't matter! LFG!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Nice that you turn a beginner controller into like cdj mix almost .. using those samples like a God.. james your Killin it!! I see why this guy is considered the best in the world . Nobody does it like james hype !! Cheers mate!
great job. this is helping me on my journey
Wow perfect mix as usual 👌😁❤️👍
I just bought a DDJ-400 and someone said that you can’t mix as good on one but apu James just proves they don’t know sh*t
You can dj with even less. This guy is a legit dj doing stuff more advanced than most club are capable of on professional house equipment.
The best there is! Absolute madman on the decks
Tu buena energia no tiene límites, gracias por existir ❤
Mixing on point as always, sick mix bro! I'd love to see one of your two hour sets on one of these, big fan here and much love to all :)
I wonder how many people on the beach figured out who that was up on that balcony. Lol love it bro

I need to keep practicing! Great work James
I'm more into underground music and usually wouldn't listen to this kinda thing, but this guy is actually a decent DJ.
Glad to see the fader survived the set 😂
I can certainly say that before the 45 nights (so low I know) that I 've worked as a DJ, I wouldn't be able to apriciate this. Certainly doing the job, makes you realize how perfect this was.
dudeeee !!! just so clean !
Only 12 minutes? and in the CDJ 2 hours jajaja, thanks for the demonstration, I hope you cheer up with a longer session on this controller.
Start using the ddj 400 for your sets bro!

It's a pleasure to watch you playing man 👍
Sick!
James Hype let's goooo!!🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
This like the 3rd or 4th James Hype set ive watched and im convinced that this guy is a genious :D
I love this set
James you are super dope! How do you see where the music lines up without the screens on your other set? Doing it by ear, like old days?
looks like he has his laptop in front of him
the screen is behind the cam's view field. u can see him watching at something
It’s a controller - it needs a laptop, which you can see in a couple of shots
He has cue points set up. Most of the hard work is done before the set, all he has to do is press a button.
An amazing performer. Personally, just a bit too much cutting up and jigging around for my liking, but even so - an exceptional technical ability. Some of the mash ups and builds drops are insane.
Proper class that! Great talent and skills! 👊
Wow. Mad skillz Mr Hype.
