This reminds me of a protest against Fidesz in Budapest just days before Hungary's last election, where the participation of Ukrainian refugees turned off many voters who might otherwise have voted for another party. They were turned off by refugees receiving assistance getting involved in Hungary's domestic politics.

Is Adam Sage on holiday there, does that make him the Paris correspondent? The President appoints the Prime Minister. It seems to me that President Macron miscalculated in calling for parliamentary elections - much in the same way that Cameron did in calling for a public vote on Brexit in June 2016 (earlier I had heard Cameron say that the Brexit vote would take place in 2017).
