I like the cut! How do you differentiate between trying to blend the sides more versus leaving them longer and allowing some overhang when it comes to curly hair? I feel like I see most people kind of leave it a little longer so it's a little bit of an undercut/nonblended look. For your son's hair, you blended it, but there was like a stark contrast from the blend to where it got curly.
I found that curly hair generally looks best a little undercutted personally. When you truly connect curly hair, it always becomes short because of the curls bouncing therefore not actually looking like the shape you tried to get. Hard to keep length while having it technically connected, also curls always look kind of connected even when they’re technically not
You can do the same with curls and a taper. If u cut graduation on the sides with scissors, you can cut it longer and not technically connect it to the taper therefore keeping curl. It’ll still look good cause curls bounce and blend naturally
