Been cutting for 18 years and Im charging $30 but learned to do 20 minute clean cuts. 3 cuts per hour Im making about $90-$105 an hour and thankfully almost always fully booked. Everyone tells me to raise price but I feel comfortable at this price/time ratio that I am doing right now. Dont even have social media just do clean work and treat people with respect and it has worked for all these years.

Raise your price because you're worth it not because of comfortablility off experience alone you're worth 50 then convenience on top and character on top of that you deserve more peace of mind and down time 💯 keep current customers at their current rate and charge new customers something you feel is acceptable but more I bet they pay it brotha
KNOW YOU'RE WORTH MORE, THAN YOU PAID. KNOWLEDGE IS PRICELESS!

Bruh... I won't mention any names or "mentorship programs" specifically, but it is refreshing to hear you talk about not only bringing value to your clients, but also recognizing the value your client brings to you... I keep hearing this one guy talk about how nobody's cutting hair for the passion or how much you should hate cutting hair and not bend over for a client.... I am so sick of hearing it. Thank you for reminding me that it's actually ok to love what I do and for money to be important but not EVERYTHING. I was really starting to think maybe I was crazy.

You are absolutely 100% correct. The bottom line is ethics. Charging absurd rates for a haircut is unethical. You have to charge appropriately for your services. People want to cut corners. Everyone Wants to “come up” that’s a horrible mentality to have. Hard work and consistency is the correct path

Great vision for how the barber business can change during a recession. Many of your viewers are young and dont remember leaner times when the easy money wasn't flowing like it has been over the last decade.
Another way barbers can prepare themselves for a changing economy is to own some corded clippers and learn how to repair them.
Countries all over the world are nationalizing or talking about nationalizing their lithium mines. This is the key mineral that operate all our cordless clippers.
We also have to consider whats going on with the Taiwan/China/US relationship. Almost all semiconductor microchips are made in Taiwan. What happens to that chip supply if some kind of military conflict breaks out? All cordless clippers are electronic devices that have microchips in them. Corded Oster 76, Wahl Seniors, Andis Masters, Andis T-Outliners do not use chips. Get some, buy parts for them and learn how to work on them. They're cheap and good insurance to own in a changing world. You never know what might happen.

Damn man, I’m used to paying $20 for a clean fade and lineup, and that’s tip included…I got this new barber who’s only 25 years old charging $35 per cut and that’s not even with tip, so I usually give him $40-$50 depending on how above and beyond he goes…. This is insane to me, since I go once a week/once ever two weeks. Just to see this video and kind of realize my guy’s not charging too crazy high I guess… it’s just bro, I make $18/hr as a fork truck mechanic, work as a chef on the side with my culinary degree, while donating plasma to make ends meet. I am currently trying to get a management job just to make $28/hour… all I’m saying is I’m freaking grinding and money is tight. I can’t afford to be spending this kind of money at the barbershop like I wish I could. And this is just myself alone bro, I got a two yr old son and a 6 yr old daughter who need their hair done as well! Long story short, I got myself a nice pair of clippers and t liners and shavers and now just do clean bald fades on myself from watching videos like yours! I feel like there are a lot of guys who are in my shoes, and just can’t afford to go to the barbershop even on a monthly basis! It suck’s because I’m all about supporting my local barber and the shops and stuff. I’m all about skilled trades and the value of a dollar! It was easier back in the day tho to walk in the barbershop with a $20, and come out fresh as f…still dub back in those days still was something!

Oh yea and meant to say as well, in my personal experience- some of the more veteran barbers out there charging a little less are way more booked, than the new barbers like the young one I go now who charges $35 and is always changing times on my scheduled appointments, when we do have a time booked he’s always like 5-10 late or running behind from the last cut…and honestly I drive by the shop all the time because I live in town, and I never see him up there or his car in the lot…and I’m like wtf…does he even have any clients or work consistently?….I’ve always thought this and have been going to him for like almost 2 years now

I’ll be honest I was in a pretty good place to go up in price (I thought) went up from $30 to $40, didn’t lose any clients and felt fine. but then where I’m located (small city in Canada) the recession hit a year later really hard, I didn’t lose clients as much as I just lost frequency, and now I learned the lesson the hard way. Wish I stayed lower at $30 to keep my books full thru the recession and now I even debate going back down but not sure if that’s a good idea or not

Yeah, I can't see charging $100 for a haircut. Theres a fine line between making what you're worth and what's fair and just ripping your clients off. You can make a great life charging $50 a cut if you're booked out and still give your clients a great value. To me, there's no reason to be greedy.

    • @Bossiocuts
      @Bossiocuts  Před rokem +2

Sure, I f’d up quite a few times but I got better over time. Barbers priced me out, I was more than happy paying 35-40 bucks a week for a cut, now they get 50 bucks 4-5 times a year from me. @the one I'm growing my hair out and cutting my own hair now. Just have to pay 60 to 65 bucks to get braided up every 3 weeks

50$ a week is already wild. I get a haircut every 3 weeks. Because of price and also cuase getting haircuts every week can’t be good for your hairline

    Sup big Boss!
Love the impact you make on the world big dawg. I’d like to share some things that help me. In my opinion:
You only get two things in life… and only two. (Time) if you’re lucky, and (Choice)…. So you better choose where you want to put your time it’s all you get. We arnt promised tomorrow.
We are spinning on a rock in outer space around a ball of fire stuck to it on our phones in bassio’s CZcams comments. None of this makes sense….so… since none of it makes sense we should all just make as much positive impact as we can before we go to make the world a better place for your fellow humans that follow.
Also… the hardest thing to do is “usually” the right thing to do. That’s why it’s so hard…. Take risks and go for your dreams.
-A fellow barber that followed his dreams. Love y’all

A lot of it is the youth. When you’re young you wanna floss. And there’s pressure to floss too. You see the baddies with a certain type of guy and you wanna be that guy. But it ain’t the way long term.
When you get older the shiney superficial stuff ain’t that shiney no more because you seen it.

Yes but lots of men over 30 too, not enough mentors because it’s also older guys

hey chris i have a question, what if you raise your prices and your still booked? do you raise your prices again when you just raised them or do you wait a certain time? (just wondering because yes money is nice but I would also like to have some time to breathe and time with family!)
