Man all those screens taking away from the drive at night. Ambient lighting is nice every now and then, but for driving, there's nothing like a good analog gauge.
I doubt you can find a Bentley for 30k but you can try. If you mean Audi, Mercedes, BMW, it is basically the same thing just a different engine. The GTI is built on MQB platform, it's just a cheaper and reliable Audi. The Golf R for example is just a cheaper Audi S3 and is better than the Audi S3 too.
I’m from the future, don’t buy a fancy car for college, it’ll get wrecked by your friends…. Save the cash and when you graduate buy a house instead of wasting years of your life renting an apartment.
It has a heavily worn set of autocross tires on the front, that’s why it’s so loud; that debacle has been discussed in most of the reviews that used the Euro spec cars they had brought over for journos in the US; cubics will say it was to reduce understeer more than the car with stock tires actually would, VW claims the fronts on the cars brought over were shot and they couldn’t source the OEM summer tires (Br. Potenza S005) here in the US quickly enough; so they went with RE-71s.
The interior is probably my biggest issue with this new generation. Yeah the gauges are nice to look at and functional, but the plastics look very Jetta-like and not any nicer than what was in my Mk7.
@@ARentz07 It's more how things are angled towards the driver and the digital cockpit. No idea how the fit and finish is for the other stuff. The engine and everything is so similar to the MK7 that it needs more to wanna upgrade it. Hell with gas prices lately might end up trading mine for a regular unleaded car shits getting painful dropping $60 on each fill up.
Unreliable? Have you driven a Volkswagen in the past 10 years… Sure maintenance can be a pretty penny but unreliable is not a term I would put hand-in-hand with Volkswagen anymore.
@@bbaskett yes I have and so has a good friend and a family member. Terribly unreliable for all if us. We all got rid of them. It was always some issue. That's why I made the comment.
@@tsav6952 were they brand new? Or were they higher mileage, not well maintained cars? Cuz the thing with some European cars like vws seem to have a lower tolerance of poor maintenance, (as well as harsh driving behavior)when compared to less complex Japanese ones.
I love watching him caress all the surfaces - so relaxing!
Oooo been waiting for this 🙌🏻

Oh Volkswagen, my favourite car 💗💗💗💗💕💕💕💕😊😊😊
Cool golf
The infotainment touchscreen this gen is a disaster. Hopefully a firmware update will eventually fix it.
Have you experienced it or just taking advice from someone else?
Dios y después Volkswagen
price?
Great car but i honestly don't know who buys them new when you can get a used 1-3 years car from the Premium segment for that same amount of money.
Older enthusiasts with money / lease
someone has to buy it new in order for you tu buy it second hand
Because screw buying a used car that might have been thrashed.
@@mattymatte6289 BINGO! Cars like these, who knows how hard the previous owner drove it.

I’m currently a high school senior so that will be my first car for next year when I graduate high school and go to college

are the switches below the display illuminated?
It doesn't look like it. BIG omission on VW's part.
🤙
Tire noise?

Neeeeever get out of your car with the engine running -- unless you leave the window down some. Just in case you lock yourself out by mistake!
Like the interior changes but not enough to trade in my ‘17 GTI.

Cool cars but the quality sucks. Rattles and squeaks and unreliable. Too bad I like the design.

VW is very unreliable, we’ve owned 3, all of them have been money pits.
