I just love how much everyone else hates Opie, too. It's one of the best parts of the show, to me-- When he does something obnoxious and un-funny 500 times, I notice it and get pissed off, and find that I'm not alone in my disgust for that hack of a man-hole.

So Opie and Anthony couldn't have the whole Sandy, Patti and Bobo sexual discussion but at the same time Stern was allowed to have women using sex toys and doing far worse? I'm late to the party but it seems like basically Sirius bought out XM to make sure their half billion dollar man Stern had no real competition out there. They buy out XM and don't want to release O and A for fear they go back to terrestrial radio and smash Stern so they figure it's cheaper to pay them enough money to keep O and A signing back up contract after contract and put the screws to the show so they cant do anything that will directly compete with Stern. So in reality Sirius' Stern deal cost them the half billion dollars they paid him, the cost of buying out XM and the cost of paying O and A for years. Mel and Stern must have been serious butt buddies for him to spend all that money into putting his boy Stern on top of the radio world.

Well neither opie or anthony have contract obligations now and they certainly arent killing stern
I doubt the merger or any of that stuff was the result of the Stern rivalry. They said a few times during like 2012-2015 that it wasn't even that serious. Stern was all already off terrestrial radio when they started doing the half and half shows so it's unlikely that had anything to do with it either. It was all just the usual corporate crap.
Sandy kept asking for money. Thats probably the main reason they wanted to shut it down.
