- Peruere... Or should I say The Knave, Arlecchino, is a character that Hoyoverse certainly put a significant magnitude of thought and effort into designing. From her lore to her animations, the Fourth of the Fatui Harbingers is full of fascinating easter eggs, details, and references.
Since I am finally bringing back this series, I don't think there is a better candidate to come back with than her. Peruere is pretty much completely inspired by a combination of some of FromSoftware's best characters, and since the Souls Series happens to be my favourite franchise of video games ever, this was a blast for me to make.
By the way, if you think this video has a lot of information... Just wait till I get to her lore in a few weeks from now.

When I played the Arlecchino story in Japanese because I am more familiar with this language than English by ear, I noticed that they talked about the origins of his abilities in the Arlecchino miscellaneous as "Akatsuki". That immediately led me to Naruto and I noticed exactly the same thing.
Something that caught my attention about the appendages on Arlechino's back is that they have the angles with details that I have already seen before on the heads of the elemental beasts that have drank the blood of gods/dragons, the small wings on the back of the devouring narwhal stars, as well as design similarities of the Azdaha and Raiden Shogun items

To add onto the naruto reference, madara unlocked the third eye after absorbing the ten tails, whose eye is also the sharingan. Only then was he able to reflect the eye to the moon creating the crimson moon that subdues the people to his eternal dream. Madara is then replaced by Kaguya, which was defeated by Naruto (who has the six path's sun jutsu) and Sasuke (who has the six path's moon jutsu). With both six path jutsu, sun and moon slowly appear on Kaguya's sharingan, slowly covering it and combined together forming an eclipse that cover Kaguya's sharingan. This sequence seems to influence how Khaenriah transitioned from the Crimson Moon dynasty to the Eclipse dynasty

This is why i cant fully agree to the claim that people have been saying that Arlecchino's first act was "spoiled" and rather was more so given a visual to info we already knew about our Knave prior to her character release. There is so much info that was given to better understand her character and hints to what we'll get in more acts of Arlecchino's story quest.
Arlecchino's outfit design also seems to be inspired by the black/white swan dichotomy. This represents the duality of her character (white swan = purity, virtue, control over emotions, restraint; black swan = unrestrained passion, taint, a metaphorical hunger for vices). Her personality exemplifies both swans perfectly. Also, Swan Lake is a theatrical production whereby (in Ballet) the same ballerina performs the role of Odile (white swan) and Odette (black swan). Arlecchino can hence be interpreted as the very dancer who plays both parts. There's additional connections to this: the theatrical imagery in Fontaine, Arlecchino's introduction in the Fontaine trailer with her controlling a stage production, the swan in Fontaine's waters (the 'Darkwing goose' is regarded as a cursed omen of abnormality and uncertain calamities) which represents her, and of course the Commedia dell'arte.
Both the swan and angel interpretations lead to similar conclusions. I'm gobsmacked by your Alichino + Hellequin connections!

As a fellow Souls enjoyer and badass ladies enjoyer, I instantly fell in love with her. When I saw her leaked concept with Lady Maria as a reference?!? I was so overjoyed, you can't even imagine. She's probably my fav Genshin character so far. She's a gift that is just keep on giving, imo.

Fun tidbit, when she uses her burst Arlecchino says Tsuki no yo ni eien nari, which translates literally to "As eternal as the moon" or something like that. And what was Madara's big plan? Casting an eternal tsukuyomi

For some reason this made me think about Crimson Moon from Tsukihime. Crimson Moon was "The Ultimate One of Moon" who was summoned by/to Earth to fight against human corruption affecting the Earth and to return it to its natural state. Well, he eventually tried to take Earth as his own Kingdom and was eventually defeated. However his "Marble Phantasm" and kind of super vampire fairies called "True Ancestors" that were created as his image were left behind and it was his goal to be reborn through them as a being that was not seen as will that is against The World. Closest thing to being being his reincarnation is Tsukihimes main heroine Arcueid Brunestud. Her abilities include things like Mystic Eyes that can paralyze and control you and ability to control reality through her Marble Phantasm... TL;DR Woman who is carrying the legacy of Crimson Moon and is able to stop you with her magical eyes and is able to do Domain Expansion too.

Eyes all over her outfit, almost a suit, an outcast with light and shadow motives that loses clothes and jump on strings during her boss fight. Element? Yea ofc it's fire.
In a world which has 7 man made and therefore fake and imperfect pillars made of power imitating divine piercing the land to prevent the shadows from spreading, but probably unrelated right? RIGHT?
Am I the only One Who sees a bit of resemblance to Ozen the unmovable from made in abyss:

-cursed/mutated arms
-"sane" member of a "mad" group
1000% it's one of the first characters I thought of when I saw her design, might definitely be an inspiration!

I'm still so confused by the seemingly random 2 blue "eyes" on either side of her with the 1 red eye beneath them, and no one talks about it.

There is no reason to count her Scythes as legs. Just count her human legs.
Spiders have legs and "arms". Their arms are called pidipalp. They are the short appendages by their head.
It makes perfect sense to count her human legs.
Btw the eyes in the boss fight when she is in the air remind me of the murals in the domains, it has 6 eyes on the wall, its almost the same shape too. 8:19 btw those also are I think meant to be a reference to the Seele logo from Evangelion.

I think the blood moon is something that many cultures experienced over the years, which formed a superstition that usually represents something more divine and powerful, or of something like a portal that would take a certain person to a higher consciousness, which makes sense that Naruto would come in
It's interesting that the moon has so many cultural references, and I love the fact that it is directly correlated to Khaenriah and to many of the characters that are from there, like Kaeya and Dainsleif, but Arlecchino having Khaenrian descent just makes her so fascinating. Seeing that she's one of the few Khaenrians to overcome the curse and use it to her advantage, and that she is this over-powered leader of the Hearth just makes her background so intriguing. Hoyoverse did an amazing job in designing her, and it's the one of the many reasons why Arlecchino is by far, my favorite character.

You make the BEST lore videos by far - my adhd brain struggles with longer videos but with yours, I'm gripped the whole time and am bummed when it ends!
An "x" over a character's eyes can also signify that they're deceased, so maybe Arlecchino has a borrowed lifespan since traversing the fire of two worlds. Perhaps the crimson moon's powers come from Teyvat's version of limbo, could even be something from outside of the firmament.

She is snezhnayain because she has the same vision shape as childe's vision she most likely to be cursed to have a crimson moon descender implanted within her by dottore back when the old knave used to offer the kids of the house to dottore for experiment
5:15 also shares the VA as well as owning an orphanage like raven does. The difference comes in how they treat their kids (and weapon types, and color schemes) but besides that arle can be considered a raven expy.
This is not true. Raven's VA is Kobayashi Sanae, she voices Tighnari in Genshin. Arlecchino's VA is Mori Nanako. Their CN VAs are also different.
Incredible video! I love everything about Arlecchino - IMO, she's the best character in Genshin.

Cool video tho Iam surprised that there is no similar video analyzing or thread about neuvillette in the fandom even now. It's so disappointing with how much people are missing the details about his deep lore and all the yonic symbolism references he got in his design. Like yes we still barely have much lore about his birth and past life but in his last story part we get a confirmation about the fact that the hydro dragon is the original creator of life , which linked him directly to tiamat the primordial sea mother goddess . Which potentially could be his first name

When you talk about Peruere's connection to Sister Friede, you mention her having two sisters....
I was just thinking the other day, how Peruere has her strong ties to one of the three moons of Teyvat...
And how Peruere very much represents a reaper of death, making her a "moon sister" whose role is to cut a person's string of fate
How fitting that she has all these spider themes present, including *red threads of fate* huh?
Could it be that Peruere also has two "sisters" of her own, with their own ties to the Teyvat moons? Perhaps these "sisters" all received some curse-like power from some ancient serpentine entity that opposed the Heavenly Principles?!
Even if she's not literally one of the fabled moon sisters, she clearly has strong connections to one of them. Which makes me look at the Khaen'riah dynasties a LOT more intensely...
Because right now we have the Eclipse Dynasty (aka Black Sun) and the Crimson Moon Dynasty (aka Balemoon). Since the "eclipse" of the Eclipse Dynasty appears to be a moon blocking out a sun...
This makes me think there MUST be a third dynasty, preceding the Crimson Moon, that will likely ALSO be named for a moon. (My personal headcanon: Columbina is from this dynasty, and it's why her eyes are being kept hidden from us players)
And if my thoughts on that are right? It helps tie together my own personal theory... that Khaen'riah *is* Celestia.
And the lunar palace could possibly be in Khaen'riah.

*TL;DR:* After hours of discussion with a friend of mine, I am CONVINCED that *Arlecchino* is an *Self-Annihilator* marked by the shadow of the *"Black Great Sun"* which destroyed Izumo and Takamagahara in H:SR... and seems to be either _the same_ or _akin_ to the one worshipped by the Khaenri'ahn Eclipse *(a.k.a. BLACKSUN)* Dinasty in Genshin... which may (or may not) also classify her as an *Herrscher* in Honkai's terms.
I just realised that the two Fatui khanre'an characters are named after clown-like characters, Pierrot and Arleccinno. I wonder if it's relevant 🤔

Wings of Feasting, its a KFC special item but in the west they gave it away if you subbed to specific streamers on Twitch that were approved of by Mihoyo. The lore of them is Alice telling Klee all about different dragons well before that lore was really delved into by the game.

I will only disagree with that part that you claim Arlecchino belongs to the Crimson Moon dynasty because she can't jump out of the water like native fontainians. Don't get me wrong, I'm not arguing with you that Arlecchino doesn't belong to the Crimson Moon dynasty, she does. It's just the statement you made in 2:58 implied that "not being able to leap from water" was equivalent to being a member from said dynasty, which doesn't hold truth for any other character that's not from Fontaine. She not being able to jump out of water only means that either she wasn't born in Fontaine or that she does not hold a vision from Fontaine, (I'm not sure which one so I'm listing both of my hypothesis). The only person that does not meet that criteria and can still perform such skill is none other than the Traveler themselves, and funny enough they don't meet either of those criteria either. It's an amazing video regardless, I'm just nitpicking ;)

@@3u760 We can know from where each vision is based on their design, and Arlecchino's is the same as Childe which means she got her vision in Snezhnaya.
Visions from Fontaine also come in two different designs, one for Pneuma and other for Ouscia alligned individuals, and Arlecchino can't use neither of them.
@@Hyuinn Fontaine's vision does have Pneuma and Ousia mechanic, so I also wonder about that too. But in her vision story, it described that she received vision before her fight against Crucabena. She got 3 power source, bloodline, vision, and delusion. So the thing that's on her back must've been delusion (?)

Your voice audio quality is so bad compared to the music and sound effects. If you're not planning on improving your voice audio quality, then don't put in any sound effects or even BGMs. They drown out your voiceover, which is made harder to listen to and understand due to their poor quality, and your accent.
