    i really appreciate your videos. The subject of boot fitting is complicated if you want them to fit correctly so your channel is tops! A little humor thrown in is great

    @Ivan Punda - Hi Ivan, Thanks. With what you're describing, I would highly recommend that you go with the 27.5 Hawx. With 12mmm of clearance it should be spot on for giving you the balance of comfort and security. If you are comfortable with a US10 shoe, 27.5 is a good size for you. The contact in the toes you feel is the liner being completely new and not yet molded. It will feel too tight at first, but trust that it will expand and gain more length. Especially if you are skiing off piste alot, this snugger boot will give you the feel you need to ski well. If you can wiggle up and down with your toes it is a good thing as this helps promote blood flow through your feet. And the Hawx is a great boot in relation to toebox height. So what I would recommend is combine a heat mold of this new liner and include a footbed. No need to worry about tearing up your liner with your toes, make sure you cut your toenails short. Another feature of the Hawx boot is the memory fit where the plastic can also be heated and molded. If the length continues to bother you, it is quite easy to get some more space in the shell. Ski boots will not shrink in the cold weather and your feet will not likely get bigger. Hope that answers it all :) Let me know if I can help further! All the best. Craig

    Hi John, thanks for the support. Yeah very familiar with the hot rod boot and with what your saying about extra layer of plastic at the instep. The key for you to get them on easier is all technique. It will be hard to type it out, but if you send me an email at info@patriotfootbeds.com I will send you some better pictures and a quick video showing you how to do it. (also couldn't direct reply to your comment, so I hope you see this) Cheers Craig

    Hi. I got a new pair of 26.5 Lange xt free 120s. Maybe skied in them a week. My left boot has been stretched as I have a bunion and that foot is 26.5. My right foot length is 26. My feet still ache pretty bad under the metatarsals, left more so. I’ve got a instep height of around 27-28 depending on where measure. When I do a shell check I can get 1 finger sideways pretty easily at the back. One finger flat at the instep and 1-2 mm at the 5th metatarsal. That’s post stretch. My fingers 1.5cm. I’m going back to see the boot fitter in Wanaka in August. Just wonder what you thought. Thanks, Chris.

    Great videos!
    Now I have a problem choosing the boot size :-)
    My foot measure is 27,5 MP, on sidas measure tool.
    My running adidas shoes size is US 10, or 44 Euro, or 280 JP -mm.
    When I try size 28 of Atomic Hawx 2.0 110 there is a 19mm free space between shell and my heel and with size 27,5 there is 12mm free space between.
    So size 28 is very comfort and when I try size 27,5 I feel very snug and I like it, top 2 buckles of upper shell area is perfect, only problem is toe box. I am a afraid that I am missing 1-2 mm in front of my big toe. I feel a little pressure on my big toe with forward lean.
    Btw, when I have try only liner of 27,5 size my big toe is touching(make pressure) on front of toe box of the liner. But I can move my toes up with liner and I am also afraid that I will tear up the liner with my big toe!
    Can You please help me with advice what size is better for me for all day skiing off and powder ?
    Are my boots going to shrink on cold weather, or are my feets going to get bigger in the boots on cold weather doing lot of skiing?
    Thank You a lot in advance !
    Best regards,
    Ivan

      Ivan Punda Hi Ivan. I'm in this exactly situation right now. I usually ski with 28.5 ski boots (Head Challenger 120 28.5), but my MP measurement on a Sidas measuring tool is actually 27.5 (and I also confirmed this measurement at home with a ruler against a wall), so the sales guy from the ski store strongly suggested to buy 27.5. So I bought the atomic hawx prime 90 27.5. When I do the shell test at home, I have around 15mm clearance at the heel. When I only test the liner, my big toe is bulging out the liner and the rest of the toes are kind of folding. When I wear the ski boots and lean forward, my toes still touch at the front and it is hard to wiggle them. I wore the boots at home, standing, leaning forward and walking every once and then while watching TV for 40 min, I couldn't stand the pain on my toes and my feet felt a little bit numb, it was hell too tight all over the place, very uncomfortable. I don't know if I should return them or just go ahead and try them on the piste. How was your experience with your new boots? Did it work out fine at the end? Thanks in advanced Ivan for sharing how it turned out at the end. And as well Craig, awesome content on your videos.

      @@juanesteban8938 Hi Juan, I still have little pressure only on big toe, but it is not problem for me to ski all day off piste and pow with that pressure. Better then with loose fit :)
      Now, I have to buy new boots ( since my soon 12 year old will take my Hawx2.0 110 from me ) and now I will probably go again for 27.5 Hawx Prime 120 since liner platinum is feeling awesome. Before that I will try Nordica Pro Machine120 and Salomon X Pro120, both 27.5, trying to find that extra 1 or 2 mm in front of my big toe. :))
      Best regards to You and Craig (Patriot Footbeds) too !!!

    My instead circonference 1.5inch longer than my foot. No wonder nothing fits me....

    • @PatriotFootbeds
      @PatriotFootbeds  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah you will want to focus in on higher instep boot models. Possibly even upsize to accomodate if needed.

      @@PatriotFootbeds I just bought Technica Mach1 110 HV. My outside toe go numb in them, but I have no notable pressure point. I may be missing 1 or 2mm in the last, but it's not unwearable. I will wear them a couple more days and then go back to the shop for the included boot fit.
      I expect to have them punch the shell at the pinky toe by 1-2 mm and grind some material on the top of the tongue of the liner.

      @@1067148 Nice, yeah tecnica is one of the best for instep height! Great to hear they are working well. Yeah it may settle in or it should be able to be punched out pretty quick!

    Does changing the heel height by putting something bellow make the foot go at a different angle forward and therefore making you step harder on the fornt of your foot and less on your heel?
    Great videos by the way.

    • @PatriotFootbeds
      @PatriotFootbeds  Před 9 lety

      Hi Alex, Yes, A heel wedge will increase the angle under your foot and thus pushing you forward.(see Forward lean and Ramp Angle) In this video, when I refer to a volume reducer it is a shim that is of consistent thickness under your liner. It lifts you up evenly in the boot shell giving you a tighter contact and feel throughout the boot. So really 2 different applications. And thank you for the feedback:)

    • @alexapirot32
      @alexapirot32 Před 9 lety

      Patriot Footbeds Thanks for the express response. Could I use for example a leather cut out the shape of the footbed as a volume reducer since I dont think I can get my hands on one in the stores in my country.

    • @PatriotFootbeds
      @PatriotFootbeds  Před 9 lety

      Sure, it is worth a shot. A high density foam or a dense material like bontex will be your best options if you can find them, For the simple reason that it wont compress as much. It will be better to trace the base of your liner to get the correct sizing.
      Also we will have some in our store very soon. Please check back! Cheers:)

    Thank You Craig a lot!
    Is it possible to shrink the shell with memoryfit oven?
    I have just read on Atomic web site: "Just choose the bigger half size boot and adjust it down"
    I think that it is better to stay with 27,5, do You think that too?
    Thank You!
    Best regards

    • @PatriotFootbeds
      @PatriotFootbeds  Před 8 lety +1

      +Ivan Punda Yeah mate, I think the 27.5. You will be happier long term. The memory fit does not shrink the shell. It allows for expansion only. The statement on the website is only because there are no real half sizes. Always judge the fit by the shell fit. Thanks. Have a great winter :)

      Thank You a lot, You are the best!
      Sorry for bothering You so much!
      My previous boots were Atomic M110 28.5 size and I had to go to your colleague Nevada shop in Tignes for boot fitting during my ski day :-(
      He made me sidas custom footbed(still good, like new) and had added some U ( up side down U) pad on back side of the liner to hold my heel. It was much better skiing afterwards :-)
      Now I am going to use that sidas custom footbed in new Hawx 2.0 110 size 27,5 ( It can fit in liner, I have try it, it is only 2 mm longer then original Atomic footbed. ).
      It feels like super snug, without pressure points.( only that little one on big toe)
      Shell I have try with this footbed on bare feet and with ski socks on, free space was 10-12 mm. (more without footbed).
      So, thank You a lot one more time, You have just solve me the biggest dilemma!
      God bless You!
      Wish You all the best!
      Ivan

      @PatriotFootbeds  Před 8 lety

      Ivan Punda No worries Ivan. I would suggest that you trim your sidas custom footbed to the same length as the atomic footbed. That way it will not curl up in the front and put pressure on the toes. The rest sounds perfect! Enjoy the skiing!! :)

  • @fernandog.aguirre2791

    Wow , I can't believe that my boot fitter at Mt Bachelor fitted my boost almost like a racer. Yes very responsive but after two hours I need to get off my ski boots before start to crying!....WTF!!!!!
