Is the final version of the heat sink universal for use with the original and 2019 version of gpdwin2 or are there two different versions of the heat sink. I have the 2019 model and no way of gauging the if the heat sink I was sent is the correct version.

Inception Fitness I think the ssd cooling feature is separate option to pick and pay for on the indigogo project web page, it was for me just to let you know.
Have just installed the cooling mod and the nylon case, i'm getting 20 degrees cooler core temps than the stock fan and case at 12 watts. Much cooler to hold. Had to loosen one of the case screws as the case was compressing the ssd fan a little causing a buzzing noise. Thanks to the Phawx for the tutorial. I hope GPD adopt a far superior cooling method in the GPD Win Max, having to invest a further £90 on top of this premium priced device and risk bricking your win 2 while installing is just unacceptable. That being said the Win 2 is certainly a one of a kind device in todays market and I commend the developers for providing such an innovative handheld.

For the love of God don't put thermal paste on the vrm's theirs a good chance you'll brick your system. And don't put as much thermal paste on your cpu as he did, having that much thermal paste is dangerous for a system and does little to nothing in terms of cooling compared to the proper amount of thermal paste. At most you near a tiny dot of thermal paste on a system like this.

On the PDF installation instructions available on Indiegogo, the maker warns not to apply thermal paste on the copper/aluminium interface, as it would cause corrosion. I followed your instructions to the letter, so I'm a little worried. Should I remove the paste except between the chips and the cooling kit? Can you confirm?
The exact wording on the instructions is "Special reminder, liquid thermal paste will corrode aluminum, so it can not be used for filling the copper-aluminum contact surface. It can only be used at the CPU and insulated to prevent burning of the main board." So I'm kind of puzzled, because you recommend laying a lot of thermal paste between the copper plate and the aluminium radiator. Qo potentially this could cause trouble to a bunch of backers, if some misunderstanding occurred. Your input will be more than welcome top clarify this. I've also got back to the maker with the same question, hopefully we'll have it sorted out!
Hi I've just upgraded my win 2 ssd to 1tb. I'm using the m.2 22 42 kinspec 1tb ssd. It gets quite warm and the battery life has practically decreased. Any help please?
Darn… this cooling mod is not available anymore, just contacted author… that’s a bummer for me… just got my win 2 (first revision)… battery was dead and temps are crazy even at idle… I really hope projekt will be opensourced and somebody will try to produce it again…

Just received the finished cooling mod and 2280 case. He mentions that liquid metal thermal paste can't be used to fill the space between copper - aluminium as it corrodes it. If my thermal paste contains 10% silver does this affect the two surfaces? Thanks
Took my Win2 apart (not the first time but 2nd and now having issues) cannot work out how to get the microswitches for the buttons back on (they don't seem to screw in so must be a certain way) can you show a clear picture or give advice?
Phawx: Is there any chance you're in contact with the guy who makes these? He's been radio silent for almost three weeks on IGG. I'm worried that something might've happened to him. I vaguely remember him having to put all the production costs on a personal credit card since IGG didn't come through in a reasonable timeframe. Did that come back to bite him?
@@dankilov You could buy some cheap GD900 Thermal paste from aliexpress if youre not in a hurry. Performs equally to Noctuas NT-H1 and better than Arctic MX4. Tech Yes City did a video about it.
Late comment but I recently bought a GPD Win 2 with the third cooling mod already installed and I have no idea which side of the switch turns the extra fan on and off as I don't think Phawx even mentioned it or I just didn't catch after a couple more rewatches. This is something that's been bugging me for a week or so now and I can find no answer for this mentioned anywhere as I didn't get any of the packaging or instructions for the mod when I bought the Win 2, was hoping this video would give me this simple answer but it continues to elude me as I don't notice any difference in temperature or noise which side the switch is turned to.
How difficult or dangerous is it to do what you did?? My fan was having issues and now it stopped working my guess due to dust inside, however I’m able view the internet and even play some games and emulators, its just the fan wants to move but is stuck. I’m gonna open it soon but once I get the cooling mod and new battery I ordered and should i also buy new fan part as well?? Do you have any recommendation or a link to something that would help a novice like me when it comes to messing with the hardware of computer??
By any chance do you know if there was a problem with the speakers on the GPD WIN 2 8100y model since my right speaker doesn’t work. The left one is crystal clear and headphones have stereo sound. Both in windows 10 and Manjaro the right speaker has no sound. Not even a pop. Do you have any idea if other units have the same problem or is mine just defective? Is their a fix before I open my unit to attempt to fix it? Where can I get the cooler mod if the indiegogo campaign is over? Hope you can help.

I just followed exactly all the steps and now my gpd win 2 will not boot anymore... the ssd cooling fan starts spinning for about 10 seconds and then stop. The main cooling fan spins 1 or 2 centimeters and then stops as well .. I got a black screen no way to get it running

the heat sync mod is worth doing if you plan on upgrading the SSD for more memory

Does the win 2 get hot like the win 1? How is it when running dolphin or redream emulators without the mod?
It runs nice Dolphin, the problem is if you try to charge the device while playing, the gpd win 2 shut downs because the hight tempersture
