- After six weeks of exploring Albania, we wanted more of those places you know are out there, but nobody talks about. And Bingo, sitting quietly was the Osumi canyon - even more impressive than any images we'd seen, but the best bit, we had it all to ourselves.
Thereafter our last few days were a mix of playing tourists, problem-solving and being determined to find one last incredible park up, before leaving this truly unexplored country.

Thanks for letting us see the Osmuni Canyon & Berat through yourselves after we had to turn back after our vehicle couldn’t take it. We moved on north after that and really understand what you mean about the north, it was a real experience (not necessarily a good one) but we’ve met with nothing but welcome & friendliness from some good people. We’re having to head home now (England) but will follow your travels & definitely return to Albania when possible. Happy travels and don’t let the ‘proverbials’ get you down, you make a lot more people happy. Keep safe.

We were pleasantly surprised with Albania too. Berat was great and we actually stayed for several days, as you say the people are so friendly.

We are just outside of Vlorë at the moment, heading south tomorrow. North of here has been meh, but we are looking forward to following your tracks generally for another 3-5 weeks. We will keep an eye on your route through North Macedonia although we will be going to Kosovo first.
Totally get it, that's pretty much how we felt.
Hang in there, there are great spots out there and hopefully the weather will hold.

Thanks again for sharing your travels. As for the negative comments, well you just can't please everyone, so I guess they'll just have to get on with looking elsewhere. A question please which you've no doubt answered many times. What gas setup do you have? A mix of refillable and bottle? We're looking at extended travel and assume this is the way to go, apart from all electric if you can afford that setup. Thanks.
Hi Brian, you're absolutely right, you do get these people.
We currently carry two gas bottles from different countries, they're not refillable but we only use them for cooking so they last an awful long time.
The plus side is that you can get bottled gas everywhere and it's pretty cheap, but it takes up space.
On our next build, we'll fit an underslung refillable LPG tank to the chassis (approx 30 litres).
We've had the refillable bottles on previous vehicles and it's worth having, LPG is readily available across Europe and the Caucasus (although it isn’t available in Morocco or Finland).

How do you guy's manage with water waste, power and clean water when on long travels. I would soo love to do what you are doing. I borrowed a motorhome in July only for 3 nights. Went through quite a bit of clean water and the grey water tank filled up in no time. Also managed to break the toilet cassette 🙄 lol
Hi Gaz, a big part of it is getting your head around what you actually need.
Water usage is key and one of the reasons we moved from a motorhome to a truck was so we could carry more water.
We're pretty frugal, even with 370 litres, and can last for 10 days if needed, but that's maybe not showering every day and even then it's on then off, soaped up, and a quick rinse.
We usually park off-grid, so we simply leave the waste tank open, this is better all round as it doesn’t stagnate, particularly when it's hot.
The best upgrade was our compost toilet, as that was the one thing that forced us to come onto a campsite.

Do you find it hard to find places to park the large motorhomes you have had and do you ever feel that you are restricted with the size? Me and my partner are torn between a large motorhome and a slightly smaller one.
Hi, it can be an issue in certain places and if you’re in rural spain, Portugal OR Italy navigating those single roads can be a challenge.
But to be honest, anything around 7.5m in length isn’t an issue, our old tag axle Knaus was 9m and some camp sites just say no (not many).
If you’re talking about Europe in general overnight parking isn’t a problem.

Albanian could become the hikers/eco-tourists Croatia of Europe with better marketing and investments into close-by motels/hotels with these views. I have no idea why they leave their country like that since it def got it's own niche and unique charm.
You're absolutely spot on with your assessment, there is a small presence of investment in Theth, with a zip line being built and lots of hotels popping up, but they've got such a long way to go.

there is no such thing as ottoman style architecture, berat is a example of traditional albanian architecture.
