    It’s a nice kit, I put one on my ‘95. Bought so I would not have to pull the axles. Turns out my axle seals were leaking so I ended up pulling them anyway. Nice kit and fairly easy to install. I also replaced my master cylinder with a ‘02 Tahoe mc, worked out very well. Nice video!

    props on cutting out those inner plates...time saver from opening up the diff, and pulling the axles.

      I've watched a few different types of kits installed and some of the mounting plates require pulling the axle seals as well. I don't like the plates in this kit but the calipers and rotors seem like the best combination so far. Seems like the plate should fit tighter and not be able to go around the lip of the seal...

    Just got a 2wd 2 door Tahoe, got a lot of the suspension “done” for now, in the middle of body paint right now. It’s still my daily so. But a very helpful video, excited to put this set up on mine I’m sick of the drums too man

    Bro you are absolutely right about drum brakes. I was talking to a buddy of mine about them, and I told him they are a safety Hazzard! Its a reason why manufacturers UPGRADED from them. I'm about to do the same thing on my OBS too. But I'm going through the rear-end as well, gonna do a posi on it

    I was told one time that converting your rear drums to disk was not a good idea bc the rear disks would grab just as hard as the fronts sending you into a skid.

      I haven't had any issues,
      The proportioning function in the master cylinder is still there
      The front to rear bias will not change

    Rear disc brakes are a headache, I will take drums any day - yes the drums are more difficult to rebuild, but you might do it twice in the life of the truck - the discs are always giving you issues

    Hey there, I noticed you skipped the clip at 9:30 , did you have any trouble getting that black bracket onto the axel body ? It looks too tight to just slide onto it. Any tips?

    Did the emergency brake line match up What's what they gave you in the kit or was there any mods you had to do?

      I had to use a longer emergency brake cable, if I remember correctly i use one from 3500 that I picked up from rockauto

    If you haven't swapped out your master cylinder.. Swap it with a NBS master cylinder.. I have a 02 MC on my 96 Short Bed.. Really gives you a firm brake pedal..

      It is a nice kit, simple to install
      That back plate was a bear to cut off plus I had my concerns about the calipers being too close to the air bags but everything worked out good

      A static drop would be nice too
      There's something nice about a lowered chevy

    does it make much a difference? I had new drums and shoes and stop just fine, not sure if I do this if it wont be much better or if the truck value would even go up

      Yes it makes a difference.
      as drums heat up they lose stopping power. Remember manufacturers stop putting drums in the front for this fact.
      It all depends on your expectations to do it or not.
      I did it for the increase in stopping power plus....
      It just lookz cool!

      The rotors are from a 94-96 Chevy Impala SS
      The bolt holes on the rotors will have to be drill out slightly 9/16 drill bit.
      The calipers are from 79-85 Cadillac Eldorado

      I had to splice in a 6-8 inch extension to make it work, the passenger side was no issue

    If I was to ever need to do a brake job would I just get pads for the front and rotors for the front and put them in the back?

      You would have to get rotors and pads that corresponds to the setup that you have for the rear.
      My setup uses rear calipers for a 79 caddy if I remember correctly. I would get rear pads for a 79 caddy.
      My cross drilled and slotted rotors are from a 95 Chevy impala SS

      It would appear that way but the second side went faster
      I didn't want to fool with draining the gear oil, sliding the axles out and the associated mess.
      It would have been too messy and added more time to the project.

    Okay here's the real question did you have any clearance issues with your wheels because I see stock will on ground they didn't see if you put it back on but see I'm one that doesn't want to run twenties on things I don't like twenties I like normal sized Wheels

    hanging the hardware is easy, What i cannot find out from anybody is how the brake balance is , the calipers need more pressure than a drum wheel cylinder and I worry about stopping power without a new master or proportioning valve.
    Not one aftermarket company who sell these kits even mention brake balance. some offer a Master none offer any info on balance. I'd like that info

      @@juliodiaz8280 you can get the slotted and cross drilled rotors that is meant for an impala ss to work
      The holes for the studs will have to be drilled out a little bit though
      I have since upgraded to that style rotors
      I will make video as soon as it warms up outside. 14 degrees is too freaking cold

    Looks like you have a lot of experience on mechanic jobs ! Question ! My back up lights doesn't work at all ! Bulbs are good , wires are good ! Any idea ?

      Did you check the for 12 volts at the bulb socket when the back up lights are on? You can use a a test light but a volt meter would work best

      Did you check the reverse switch?

      Be sure to measure the inside diameter of the drum to determine what size you have

      You can either measure across the drum or take it to the local auto parts store to match it up

      Now bare in mind not all stalls have the same characteristics, some will slip more than others and some are hot garbage
      I would suggest doing some research on the stall you plan on going with and get some reviews

      I had to use a longer ebrake cable for a 13" drum setup
      The kit also includes cable stops just cut the excess cable off

      @@Slicpartna I've seen this shop online, and I've been wondering of the kit is reliable and are the brakes alot better than drum? I have a 1997 chevy suburban 2500 4x4 Wth a 454 so it's very heavy. It's very noticeable that I need more stopping power. Would tou recommend this kit?

      Also be mindful of the brake pads that you use...
      Different brake material has a different friction coefficient

      Hey the brackets slide over the axle tube then just orientate them to the mounting holes on the axle flange
