    EQ makes everything better, it's like puttin butter or bacon in your chain. Great video and I'm gonna get one of those pedals!

    Thanks, this is really useful stuff. That “underdrive” concept, to get sort of an anti-lead-boost, is particularly intriguing. Unrelated to that, I wonder if one of these would help me with a soundhole pickup that I haven’t been getting along with… as many of them do, it’s got this clanky, Strat-neck-pickup-esque thing happening on the plain strings that is very unpleasant, at least in an acoustic context. I suppose I’ve got to figure out what that problem frequency is first, and if I’m lucky, this EQ pedal will have it. Cheers man!

      Sure! Check out the Empress Parametric EQ or something similar. That’ll give you more control over which frequencies you need to boost or cut.

    Hi, would you still recommend the hx stomp for acoustic-piezo combination [4 years ago]? That's what I've got and is all I can afford but someone's offered a really
    cheap second hand one. Thanks.

    Thanks Alex, some great examples here. I tend to prefer the seven band EQs like the boss ge-7 or joyo you showed which has the same bands as the ge-7... Just a little nerdy aside about the Mesa, they added the Mesa 5 band EQ on the "Express +" models which actually came out after the og express amps but not for very long. I think they discontinued them around the time that they came out with the markV 25 and 35 series amps. Either way I think using an EQ pedal in the effects loop of any amp could have a similar effect as the Mesa graphic. Cheers!

      Oh cool! I thought I had recalled the store clerk saying the opposite, but my memory isn’t too great haha

    EQ is a very effective way to shape the tone and transform the sound of any guitar. I used a Boss GE-7 before I started using Modelers. The convenience of being able to instantly recall any number of different EQ settings in a Modeler has made EQ an even more powerful tool for tone shaping. Do you find any significant tone differences in Pedal EQ versus Modeler or DAW EQ?

    • @AlexPriceMusician
      @AlexPriceMusician  Před rokem

      The only difference to me would be between different types of EQ pedals - parametric vs graphic vs something super simple like an amp’s EQ. They all kind of have a different purpose.

    EQs also cause a phase shift. You also get tonal variations due to these phase causing changes in the overtones and harmonics.

    What's the name of the Mic your using to talk into? I've seen it around but I have no idea what brand or model.
