It's my favorite ELO topic. It is a melody that transports to the eighties and reminds me of my first love. Thank you for existing ELO and for such a beautiful song. Total Blessings.
ELO and Jeff Lynne the best ever MUSICALLY!
ELO FOREVER!!!
The world IS good with Jeff in it😉
YOu need to do "Concerto for a rainy day". Side three from ELO's "Out of the Blue".
Love it when you review ELO. This is one of my favorite songs. Unfortunately, it's also hard for me to listen as whenever it comes on, it reminds me of my wife who passed away a few years ago. The last verse hits home ...especially "..she makes smile, she tries to sing".
Please keep going down this ELO rabbit hole.
So sorry about your wife dude. The 3rd verse is beautiful and such an awesome tribute ❤️
My condoleances to you, dude. There's nothing to say to to make you hurt less. All I can hope is that you'll be able to find comfort in your loving memories and the knowledge that you have loved and have been loved. And that's more than a lot of us can chalk down on our blackboard of life. May your god be with you.
So sorry to hear about your wife god bless you and your family. Stay strong
THANK ELO
Here's a second vote for " Diary of Horace Wimp ", a different kind of story song.
Yes! SOMEONE needs to react to our dear Horace Wimp!!!
Let's get the whispered chant going:
"Horace... Horace... Horace... Horace..."
I was going to suggest Diary of Horace Wimp also, it's delightfully unique.
@@unrulyjulie4382 there is at least one reaction to it on CZcams, actually. _Midnight Blue_ however, deserves one. And if Harri loved _Need Her Love_ I am curious how his reaction to _MB_ will be...
Try "Stranger "by E L O. It's simplicity makes it a great choice. One of my favorites.👏
Oh a memory. It feels it comes across the sky intro. Guitar is amazing. And it's clever chorus with the choir.
I agree with the comment about “Midnight Blue”, my favorite Jeff Lynne ballad.
Jeff Lynne can do it all! The best ever!
Jeff Lynne's voice is so beautiful no matter what the song!
Lynne of course produced the Beatles anthology free as a bird it's real love
Beautiful love song by the ELO. Discovery is such a Great album.
Regards from Chile :-)
Hello:
Thanks for making and uploading E.L.O. s " Need her love" reaction.
It´s a beautiful song.
Why don´t you do an E.L.O. ´s " Midnight blue " reaction , HarriBest ?
" Midnight blue", a precious and immortal song, recorded at Musicland Studios (Munich, Germany), owned by the Italian musician and producer Giorgio Moroder.
You can see the influence of Beethoven, Bach, Wagner and Johann Strauss, in addition to that rich mix of styles, ranging from the doo wop of The Platters and The Chordettes, for example, through the sound and heritage of The Beatles, until the disco style, represented by Barry White, Van McCoy, The Bee Gees, Donna Summer (who also recorded in the same studios, like Queen, Elton John, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and many other greats) and others.
There is a touch of Viennese waltz as a whole (The theme itself is a waltz, but with a slower rhythm), an iota of bolero, as well as blues, swing and the aforementioned doo wop (The influence of African music it's undeniable - I think.)
All a bitterness that makes this beautiful ballad, an ethereal song and without equal.
In its part of strings and choral arrangements, Jeff Lynne, its composer and main voice, Richard Tandy, keyboardist of E.L.O. and Louis Clark ( R.I.P. .), who conducted the orchestra.
Kelly Groucutt ( R.I.P. ), bassist for E.L.O. , was his second voice and part of the choirs, too.
Among many other details, it is worth mentioning that this song used the synthesizer, recently launched on the market at that time, the Yamaha CS-80, the same one with which he created immortal melodies, the Greek musician Vangelis; and sound engineer Reinhold Mack (who was very close, in his work, to Queen), used Sennheiser microphones, placed at different distances, in order to create a magnificent surround sound environment, similar to that of the interior of a cathedral. This is very evident, in two other ballads present in the album "Discovery" (1979), to which this song belongs, "Need her love" (With a strong Gregorian chant glaze) and "Confusion" (With a marked accent in Richard Wagner's choral work.)
Lyrically speaking, in one of its parts, there is a reference to a verse from the play "Romeo and Juliet" (William Shakespeare): It says "... But what's the difference cos' they say what's in a name ..." ( "... But, how much do they look at what is in a surname ..." )
It is intuited that the song refers to the furtive encounter between two lovers, at the stroke of midnight, in a desolate place, which must end before dawn, so as not to be discovered by those close to them.
This song was not made as a single, on either side of the Atlantic, but in Australia.
Thanks again for uploading the video.
A hug , amigo.
Greetings from Chile, South America
Great love song. I love the intro with the guitar.
Very ethereal love song.
nice step... I need, I need her, I need her love
I'm in love of this song ❤ great reaction 😊
This is a beautiful ballad and of course I love it. I have to admit however that I've always preferd Jeff's ELO ballads "Midnight Blue" or "Don't Walk Away" a little more than this one. You should give either one of them a listen.
Agree with you totally. Don bluth made an awesome animated video for Dont walk away. Xanadu had some awesome work from ELO.
Ticket to the moon!.. please
An absolutely gorgeous song ❤️
_Time, Gentlemen, Time!_
Harri you must react to several other songs off this album Shine a little love , Confusion, and Midnight blue great songs off a great album Discovery From your friend the biggest ELO FAN
Gracias Jeff Lynne
Seriamente, ELO es un grupo excepcional. Cualquier canción de ellos es valioso conocer.
Correcto. Qué tremenda banda. De las mejores de todos los tiempos.
Brings back great memories ❤
This ship left port a long time ago, but the song is one of my favorite ELO songs because of its lush, romantic old-world-type of charm. It's like a reflection of the feelings you get from watching Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers swirling across the dance floor.
Very lonely song...when i listen the song i need her love i cry ...very nice song...
Need Her Love was never released as a single in the UK. Besides Jeff both Kelly Groucutt and Bev Bevan also did some of the backing vocals. Jeff Lynnes ELO is the current iteration of the band who hav been performing live. Aside from Jeff the band mostly comprises the Take That live band led by musical director
In my country (Uruguay) Discovery was released on video, I was already intrigued by what I was going to hear so I prepared myself. Without a doubt, one of my favorite songs was Need her love, that sad atmosphere seduces you but as you say it doesn't make you sad at all (although sometimes a tear has escaped me). good reaction, cheers
@Cosmo Kramer So you are here too? I somehow missed this with Harri but late to the party or not, this is piggin beautiful. I just put it up on f/b for my friends. See you in another comments section, I guess? 😊
Stunning beautiful song from the genius of Jeff Lynne. Play it again Harri, there’s no one here gonna stop you.
Love it
Harri, thanks for the reaction, I'm glad you dug the song! And hey, there's no need to hold back on The Beatles comparisons--we ELO fans do it all the time, asking ourselves things like, "I wonder whether John, Paul, or George would sound best singing this song?", etc. So don't suppress your thoughts on how various ELO songs remind you of The Fab Four, because those thoughts add to your reactions! The only time ELO fans get miffed is if someone writes that ELO completely ripped off The Beatles and didn't have an original idea of their own--because we know that's just rubbish, typed by a troll. But naw man, we know you're an ELO fan--so bring up The Beatles to your heart's content. :)
Thank you Harri for reacting to another sublime E.L.O masterpiece and thanks also to Cosmo for requesting it 😊
My pleasure. There's plenty more ELO to come!
@@Cosmo-Kramer Thanks Cosmo. Love this and Midnight Blue, another wonderful ballad.

I hope you'll consider tightrope next time you react to ELO - its amazing- they always play it at every concert! (If you do, pls do the album version- ive not seen any great quality lives of it)
Fantastic track from a great album 👌. Elo calms me down when I get anxiety. Great reaction from you
He is so talent , song writer, producer worked with the Beatles, Travelling Willberrys, so underrated . As Always enjoyed your reaction
Geez I love your reactions and your intelligence
Discovery! My first ELO album. I was 9 years old. It's still my favourite. But did Kelly call in sick the day they recorded this video?
well Jeff Lynne did produce the Beatles on Free as a Bird and Real Love
Jeff Lynne vocalista de ELO mi banda favorita conocido por la crítica especializada como el quinto Beatle.
Your Going To Like This One Harri !
Yeah this is a great song.
Love this! Jeff Lynne is a a brilliant songwriter and singer, musician and producer! Genius! Saw ELO live in the late 70s. Amazing! Thanks for this Harri! Mr. Blue Sky by ELO guaranteed to make you smile and make you feel happy! 😊♥️♥️🎼🎵🎶🇨🇦🇨🇦2
MEMORIES !!!!!!!
Anyone notice that Jeff finished the "need her love" in the end? Love how he plays on lyrics.
Wow!! Great song pick and did not know a video existed. I was young but had this album. 79
Good catch on it sounding like the Beatles he hung around with George Harrison a lot him and George Harrison collaborated a few times also Jeff Lynn which is guitarist and founder of elo played with the traveling wilburys and there's a great video of him playing guitar with Tom Petty George Harrison and Prince on a video called while My guitar gently weeps it was a tribute to John Lennon at first Yoko did not want Prince to play because Prince did not know the song but Prince practiced it and then if you watch your video you'll find out
True, but he didn't become friends with George, or do any of that other stuff you mentioned until years after this song. It sounds Beatlesesque because the Fab Four was the greatest musical influence on him, from the perspective of him just being a huge fan of theirs. But yeah, while Harri can hear Paul singing this song, I'd add to that and say it sounds like Jeff is playing the guitar in George's style.
Different type of experience then this, but hold on tight and calling America by ELO are two underappreciated songs in my opinion.
I bet the 3 dislikes actually loved the song and just felt like trolling :-)
Doing my part towards that 50k mark!
I have been a ELO fan right from the beginning in 1972 and this song is my most hated song of the many.,listen to more mate because you might just be amazed
Love is part of me and hate is part of you. It's impossible not to love this great song. Go listen to acid rock.
Looking forward to this Harri!! 😄
So wish they would be live in America ❤❤❤
For a totally different experience, try The Diary Of Horace Wimp (same album: Discovery. In fact, the very next track).
Lynne wrote this for his then-wife, Sandy
Hi. Could you please ,please play four little diamonds from the album secret messages by the great E.L.O
I'm a sucker for a well-crafted ballad that isn't sappy or corny. "Sublime" was the right adjective. I was stationed in England when this album was still in the charts and they released the "Xanadu" soundtrack and "TIme" albums while I was there. It seemed every single went into the top of the charts, 14 ELO tracks from the 3 albums were released as singles. I was sad though to see the strings replaced with synths on "Time", it just isn't the same. I know it was a concept album set in the future and no doubt a futuristic sound was wanted but it's colder, mechanical.
I agree with you completely about, Time. Just could never get into it. The only track I kinda dig is 2095, and a lot of people seem to dislike it. lol
@@Cosmo-Kramer well, we already know we disagree about Time. At least I can say that I also love _Yours Truly, 2095_ as much as I love the rest of the album. However, I prefer hearing the album end to end, the whole story. And I don't understand how anyone could make words like "colder, mechanical" fit the songs of Time. Yes, it describes a future world that is cold and mechanical, using music. But the singing, the voice, the words! I just don't care, if violins don't play!
Just because - "synth" -, it's suddenly mechanical? Are Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk, Jarre - mechanical? Maybe, sometimes? Is Jeff Lynne? Never! The sounds may be made using electronics, but they are perfectly organic. And I believe quantum physics has nearly given up upon string theory also! :-)
Well put. Too many ballads that are sappy or corny, and too many apparently obligatory ballads on albums too. That’s why I’m usually not too fond of ballads. But man are there beautiful songs out there. Even beautiful ballads 🤣
@@NathanVeenstra For a non-corny, beautiful ballad, from a band you wouldn't think of as makers of ballads, try Led Zeppelin's, "The Rain Song".
There's strings on Time - just need to listen hard to isolate them
The music will be there for you to react to but your daughter will be grown before you know it. Don't miss that time of her growing up. Don't wear yourself out doing so many videos. Cherish the time with your girl.
This and Confusion. Thanks.
You need to do Fire on High
That guitar solo was very George Harrison don't you think?
Cosmo mentions in his intro that this was the last album of ELO"s "salad days". due to changing musical tastes. I'm sure his dismissal of the 3 piece string section had nothing to do with it. Oh and PS: Cosmo Kramer is a fictional TV character, interesting pseudonym
Gary, you're right, the strings are conspicuously missing in, Time. But so was the stellar songwriting we'd come accustomed to with ELO. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's still quality stuff, because Jeff doesn't make bad songs. But it's a pretty steep drop off from Discovery--an LP that had already turned off purists of the band. My sense at the time, and also now in retrospect, was that the new hot artists and genres didn't leave much room for '70s bands like ELO. Even Robert Plant said after their final album, 1979's, In Through The Out Door, that he had this inescapable feeling that Led Zeppelin no longer belonged, that the music scene had passed them by. He said that even if Bonzo had not died in 1980, they were on borrowed time. So yeah, that's what I was trying to get across in a just one page of copy, so as to not bore folks with a lot of reading when they're waiting for song to begin. Your point is well taken, though.
Hi Harri, I’m looking for your patreon link on here so I can subscribe to you. I will actually pay you to react to a concerto for a rainy day. It’ll be the best 19 minutes of your life, a musical extravaganza 😎😎
Hey John, just an FYI. Harri's already reacted to, "Mr. Blue Sky". And I'm a Patron and I've got the other songs from the Concerto on my list of paid reactions coming up. So if you don't mind waiting, I've already got ya covered. But if you're determined that the Concerto be listened to in its entirety in one reaction, then go for it, and I'll remove the 3 songs from my list. Lemme know, brother.
@@Cosmo-Kramer do you know the link to his patreon page? It’ll be such a shame to split those fabulous songs up, they just roll on, one after another 👍
