these people are fakers, and it's annoying that they made another show about them after it was demonstrated that the "flirting couple" in the first series had a child together long before they started filming. When they lie once, they have lost ALL credibility. I'm amazed they went ahead with this show, given that it is tainted beyond belief due to that first season.
That said, I fully agree with your sentiment, but wish the show was about REAL people fleeing the Amish, and not fakers who had left years before.

Actually, I have seen a video about a group of younger ex-amish that live together in a big house and kind of help each other out. It is almost like a halfway home until they get more adjusted to "English" culture. They exist, but I mean, it was just in one town (I think the one I saw was around the Lancaster, PA area) and the Amish live in multiple states, so it might not be available to everyone.

You dont actually need an ID to fly domestically per the law. Those real id signs are not factual, they just want you to get a real id. If you dont have one the TSA will do extra checks and make you wait. This person saying they cant fly was just for tv. Ultimately it is up to the TSA for if they consider you a risk or not with no id, but most of the time they let you through.

This video hits home for a lot of people from so many backgrounds - not just Amish. I feel horrible for what these 2 went through. I feel encouraged to go out and explore when they boosted the courage to go out and explore what we know as the norm. I feel heartfelt for how that girl felt, after having feelings for someone for a long time, he made the surprise move. I felt complete upset for them from their parents reactions. I was shocked to discover their lives refused them any sort of identity - which made me feel upset for them when they found the ticket counter.

I think they were more curious about the existence of escalators and wanted to experience as much of the "English" world as possible, so they decided to use them instead of the normal stairs. Just imagine being in an Amish community for your whole life, with your exposure to the outside world being the occasional glimpse of cars, riding in one occasionally and the occasional rural McDonalds; then suddenly going somewhere like a big airport or a mall, and seeing a bunch of technological devices that you don't even know the names of. Yes - that is why religious fundamentalists are dangerous in all forms. muslim, catholics, amish, mormons, jehovas, budhists - honestly - if they turn it up too much, it's unbearable. This whole video I was collecting my jaw from the floor - how the hell can you live like this and force other people, your kids to live like that. These communities are seriously limiting the potential of all the kids living out there having no clue how the real world operates. At least give them options, don't shut them off from the outside world, views and experiences.
These girls - getting out there are now putting themselves in serious harm because they are as naive as a 10 year old. It only takes one malicious guy to take advantage of them and there are plenty of psychos in the open.
Makes me angry with people who think their conservative religious beliefs give them the right to impose their limitations on their children.

Parents that tell their children not to come back are toxic and manipulative. You're kids are not extension's of you to do exactly what you want, they are individual human beings that still need guidance and support.
Edit: I understand being scared and or upset for your kids, but outright telling your children to never come back is shitty and as I said above, toxic. I don't care what generation you grew up in, if your folks did this to you, it was still wrong and I'm sorry you went through that. I also understand that this can be a generational thing. People used to do things to their kids that were aweful and then those kids grew up, realized it was toxic and wrong, and decided not to pass that down into their kids. Not all parents do it out of malice, regardless it is still harmful and wrong.
