Put a cover over the crate, she wants to feel more protected and less exposed.
yeah sheâs acting kind of like sakura, when she was gonna have her babies and after too, animals just like smaller closed in areas, they feel more protected that way
@@flamazing718 exactly!
Yes
Great idea
Yesss
She is not feeling safe where they are. Strays often do that for safety reasons. Maybe cover the crate so she feels safe. If she senses they are sick she will hide them.
Thatâs exactly what I was thinking! She wants a sheltered area âher little spaceâ kinda thing đ„ș
This is exactly what Iâm thinking ^ Iâve fostered a lot of cats so although not experienced with dogs in this sense, cats are similar too. Also a humidifier would really help!!
Yes Joey is way too controlling with these animals, just let momma do what she wants. They know what they're doing and if you stress the mom out she will not take as good care of her puppies. Joey is a kind soul but sometimes seems very clueless to the care of these animals
We gotta make this comment the top one
@@stitches318 exactly! Heâs stressing me out with his over handling and as for those collars??? They donât need collars at that age!
You should have a camera so you can see what happens
Smart đ
I was about to comment that
Yeah smart
we need to make sure that this is the first comment he see's so he can remember to do it!
Lylah he does have a camera so...
Mama dog seems to want her babies in a covered area, like a cave type situation
Yea, she's trying to keep them extra warm since she knows they are sick. Momma knows, I say leave the puppies where she put em and adjust the area accordingly and go from there..
@@rhey81he already has a whole area for them why would he put them in that place when he already has a whole set up for them and it would make no sense. He just needs to lock her in with something else.
@@alyssaTT456 he has a whole setup site but she doesnât feel safe in the open. Thatâs why she keeps moving them to a covered place.
Mama knows best. I know he made a nice area... but she's a street dog. She needs them to be hidden. This dog is stressed, not crazy stressed but stressed. The plus side ... she just whimpers when he handles the pups and she trusts him and has not been aggressive at all.
Instead of thinking what makes him comfortable for filming or handing... he needs to look at what she is telling him.
Easy fix. Just constructing a den in the area he already has should work. Try just putting in a table that has some heavy sheets hanging down (with minimal light pass through) with the entrance not facing the gate opening (where you go in and out). make sure there is loads of comfy bedding and see how that works. She is looking for something where the puppies cannot be viewed from all angles (most important from above), and a place where they will be warm.
@@rinl.6924 I like the table with the blankets or sheets hanging down to create a den idea. That should work perfect. I also think he handles them to much. Some dogs, even if you've had them for years will move the pups if they're handled to much.

Not sure if anyone has commented this yet but it looks like she is part Belgian Malinois. They are an extremely protective breed but also very smart. Her neck gives it away, it's very long.
Yes, and the face, along with her markings. I would say she's some type of pitbull belgian malinois mix based on her structure as well
I thought the same. My family have a rescue mali mix and she is very sweet but very vocal and loves her the under the stairs cupboard as her little safety den.
i thought the same and the puppies look malinois ish
Look up "black mouth cur dog" she is 100% one
@@laurenb92 i mean shes most likely not "100%" anything. Belgian Malinois is a totally a fair guess.
In the last video when she kept moving the babies, she probably sensed that they didnât feel good, and she kept trying to make them feel better or more protected and safe
makes sense
Why donât you set up a camera to see how she is getting out?

They need to be where she wants them. Sheâs anxiously trying to let you know she doesnât think they are safe. Let her keep them in the crate and put heavy blankets over the 3 sides so she feels more protected.
You HAVE to respond to mama, even though you have info she canât comprehend (the garage is safe). Her milk supply depends on her feeling calm and safe.

I feel like sheâs been crying so much because she knows they are sick
Upper respiratory infections are quite common with puppies. They just need some antibiotics and they should be fine. Momma seems to be in real need of attention. Could be the reason she's moving them.
Ya, with a title like "very sick" I thought they had Parvo.
@@Kebersox Im pretty sure its a URI. I have seen it many times in both puppies and kittens. The snotty noses is a pretty good sign.
I agree. When he called her âAnxietyâ I was like EXACTLY. She will take some time to adjust to a household with a routine.
@@Kebersox oh God me too I was so scared!!

I was legit so scared
She might want a more den-like situation for the puppies with a "roof" like one of those plastic crates. Not sure how to achieve that but that might be why she keeps moving them, she may feel they are too exposed.
Placing a blanket over the whelping box with an opening large enough for her may help. Heck even a tarp covering half of the enclosed area may make her feel safer.
THIS! when my dad bred labs, the kennel was all walled up, but inside was a smaller roofed kennel. They like feeling safe and enclosed.
After seeing her move them to the crate and then under that table - It seems like she wants to have the puppies somewhere with like a roof over top for protection. The open air set up probably makes her feel a little unsafe.
I know Joey is trying to help but this makes me really anxious đ She is not being dramatic, she is worried as hell and doesnât want them there. He will sure learn from this experience, so that is a good thing!
Hes not learnt and hes done this 3 times
She was probably so distraught bc she was feeling them sick and didnât know how to tell Joey :((

They definitely need to be covered. She isn't freaking out for no reason. If she keeps moving them and stuff, it could end badly. So make her feel safe, that's your job as a foster.
It's also his job to get them to a vet so he's doing good on that part.
Heâs doing an awesome job!!!
Thats probably why mama was hiding them and wanting to protect them and had so much anxiety because she knew they were sick đ„

Buy her a fabric pop up childrens tent!! She wants her and her babies to feel more sheltered & protected. She's looking for a cave lol
Try putting a cover or a makeshift tent over the whelping box. She's most likely moving them because it's too exposed and out in the open for her to feel safe.
mother dog: Realizes she can get out and move the puppies
also her: *its free real estate*
I usually put a towel over the cage it makes it feel less exposed. Safe little cave for the puppies. Love youđ
Definitely bring the mom and pups to the emergency vet to get a check up as soon as possible before itâs to late just to be sure
Try not to act stressed around the babies in the whelping box since dogs know when you are stressed. Acting stress around them in that whelping box might make her feel it isn't safe since you acted stressed out in there. Also, I would put a blanket over their cage, it makes it feel safer, and it will keep the babies warm. I would install a camera in there too because the whelping box is really high and her jumping over it with one of the babies to hide them might hurt them, especially if she were to accidentally drop them during the process, or bite a little too hard if she isn't holding them properly. I understand that this is your third time but once you have a pregnant dog that is "aggressive" or actually will bite you if you come to close to their babies, you need to learn how to handle that and I am afraid you won't handle it very well or will get rid of it, it is important to clearly know their body language and google won't give you clear information to tell you what all the signs mean, most of what google says is a myth or untrue, talking to a breeder for advice would be better than using google, especially since you're dealing with a belgian malinois (mix) who are complex and need owners who especially know a lot about dog body language.
Coming from a previous career as a veterinary behavioral technician, I completely agree. His heart is in the right place but he needs more tools to understand canine behavior.
while i completely agree with Joey needing mare resources to care for the dogs and to understand their behavior i do not believe him to be they type of guy tu just "get rid" of a dog when they become aggressive towards him.
I think itâs too open for her. Dogs like caves or dens. Makes them feel safe.
Yes, like Wolves and Coyotes!
Put a cover over the crate so itâs mor private for her
I'm slightly worried by those higher walls, if she tries to move them again she'll have to jump and she might drop one đŻ
I thought this too đ & should she be jumping like that? Idk anything about this kind of stuff, just a thought
I thought the walls were too high also.
I was worried she will jump and land on/step on them and I really think she wants them covered, something above their heads (she tried cage roof and the table).. he could try covering them with a tent or blanket and maybe make 1 of the walls shorter
I honestly think something terrible happened to some of her last liter and that's why she's doing what she's doing out of instinct đ poor mommy

Hey Joey! I am not a professional but I do work at an SPCA and from my experience and what I have been told by my vet clear discharge such as snot coming from a pup's nose is not much to worry about. Just like big dogs and humans we all get runny noses from allergies, colds, and more. On the other hand... if the snot continues, becomes thick or greeny-yellow than you should consult your veterinarian. This could mean they have a cold to flu due to exposure to other unvaccinated animals, or germs anywhere. You are doing an amazing job at taking care of these animals and you are doing the right thing.
I hope nothing is wrong and that they will get better!
You're right and that's good information for people to know. Colored snot means infection in humans and animals. In the clips at the end the snot looked yellowish to me so I'm guessing they probably have an upper respiratory infection, which as you will know from working at the SPCA,is very common in puppies and kittens. Poor babies,I hope it's just a URI and not anything more seriousđ„ș
Joey PLEASEEE place cameras around the garage so that you and we can get a clear picture and answer of what happens at night because this almost broke my little sister's heart
On the small bright side there is to this situation, at least they're with a great foster owner in a safe place instead of where they were before. I send the puppies all the love I have right now! đ„ș

Ok there is some creepy sickness going through animals rn because my hamster is sick and the CZcamsâs that I have watched today all have at least one sick animal and everyone in my classes have had or has at least one sick animal too
Every ten minutes I have to pull open my hamsters eye again and wipe off the discharge im trying to get an appointment at the vet but most of the spots are full. To all of the people with sick animals or recent animal losses I hope you and your animal(s) get better soon.
My hamster also has cushings disease at the same time as this cold or sickness and it's really sad seeing him just sick and crying for the past couple days.
Stay safe everyone and if you have a pet go give them a hug.
some animals can get covid and itâs also cold season so it would make sense for a lot of them to have colds or allergies
